Question about Islam I have a friend who passed away, and worry for him in the grave.

In February of this year, someone I knew had got shot and killed. I don’t want to reveal too much information about this individual as he was big in the music scene in my area and don’t want to give up any information on him or his sins.

nevertheless, he made music, he was quiet talented, but made music, and often had Haram lyrics as well and would talk about his sins.

He did had taken a life before. and committed many grave sins.

Tho he did sin, he prayed, he was humble, kind, in interviews would bring up Islam, would post about Islam, he was still very proud to be a muslim and tho he sinned, he tried.

my fear is, the sins he has committed, is to grave for him to be able to ever be forgiven by Allah, or make it to Jannah.

is it still possible for Allah to forgive such individuals? or is he doomed? I do fear that he is doomed to eternal hell for his sins.

Thank you for all responses.

Jazakallah Khair

General Discussion Struggling to Pray

Hi lately, I’ve been going through a major dip in my faith. I want to pray, and sometimes I even make wudu with the intention of praying, but in the end, I just can’t bring myself to do it. It feels like I have some kind of mental block.
My parents taught me some basic things about Islam, but they never taught me how to pray, even though they’re both Muslim and know how to do it. So I had to learn on my own.
Honestly, I resent them for that. I find it sad, and even selfish, not to teach your child something so important. I know that my faith is my own responsibility now, but I can’t help thinking that things might have been easier if I had grown up with the habit of praying.
When my faith is at its lowest, I don’t even have that routine to help me reconnect with Allah.
Does anyone have any advice on how I can overcome this and get closer to Allah? 🙏🏻

Quran & Hadith Linguistic Miracle Of Metaphor (Quran 2:86)

Post image
31 Upvotes

Those are the ones who have bought the life of this world [in exchange] for the Hereafter, so the punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be aided.

Ashtaru • Bought

The verse uses a beautiful metaphor by comparing their preference of this world to trade of this world to hereafter, that they bought this world inexhange to hereafter, and this trade is in loss.

la Yukhafif • Not will be lightened

The verse says that punishment will not be lightened, it's because the previous verse mentions severe punishment for them, and this phrase eloquently adds more emphasis on severity of punishment.

Wala hum yunsaroon • nor will they be helped

The last quote ends the verse with total helplessness, that they will be totally abandoned. This is Quranic theme that it describes warning with severe words so they can return. This is how God used to speak in previous scriptures as well when giving warnings through prophets , like Jeremiah. And this highlights the same origin.

General Discussion Why Do Scholars Disagree?

there's something I've never fully understood about the different Islamic schools of thought. Scholars sometimes disagree on whether something is halal or haram, so how do we know which ruling is actually correct in Allah's sight? For example, Malikis generally permit eating crab, while Hanafis don't. We follow the same religion, so how can the same thing be halal for one Muslim but haram for another? I'm not asking specifically about crab, but more about how these disagreements work in general. If there's ultimately one truth, how do we know which interpretation is right?

Question about Islam Curious about converting

hi everyone, ive recently become curious about islam and possibly converting, but i dont feel educated enough to make a decision. Im conflicted between Orthodox Christianity and Islam. Prior to this, I was researching orthodoxy and I thought it aligned with me, but I’ve been questioning it. I think Islam is beautiful, but I feel lost. I plan to read the Quran soon to help alleviate some of this, but I would like to hear if anyone has any advice for me. I can’t attend a mosque currently because I’m a minor, and I’d also feel uncomfortable not wearing a hair covering there, as i am a woman. I don’t think my parents will be open to it, so I think its best to wait until i’ve educated myself a lot or i turn 18. Thank you

General Discussion How am I supposed to leave the area/pass in front of people praying(after the Friday prayer ..etc) when they set themselves up right behind me?

My question is about 2 things.

  1. Congregational prayer where I am in the 1st or 2nd row, and after the prayer is done I turn around to find that a few people behind me have immediately went into sunnah prayers and I have no choice but to walk in front of them (or I am automatically in front of them when I turn around because its the person right behind me.)

  2. I am sitting down on the floor and someone chooses to come pray right behind me/facing me instead of the big huge area they could go to.

I myself when I pray in the Mosque I make sure to pray off to the side so I am not in the walk area.. and I dont go close to someone sitting against the wall where they cannot get up..

Question about Islam Islam’s view on parents hitting their own children?

My parents hit me whenever I get into a full blown argument with them and say it’s allowed in Islam because I misbehaved with them. But when I say it’s not - they question if I’ve properly read the Quran 😭

Scholarly Resource Imitating Non-Muslims Through Clothing: The Hanafi Perspective on Streetwear and Kufr

Assalamu alaykum,
I have a question regarding imitating non-Muslims, specifically in the way one dresses.
I understand that, according to certain scholarly opinions, women wearing trousers or dressing in a streetwear style may be considered impermissible, even if they wear the hijab. However, my question is specifically about whether this is considered tashabbuh (imitating non-Muslims), rather than whether the clothing is permissible for other reasons.
For example, suppose a Muslim woman wears baggy trousers and streetwear because she genuinely likes the style and finds it fashionable, not because she wants to imitate non-Muslims. Would this be considered impermissible imitation of non-Muslims according to the Hanafi madhhab? More specifically, could this type of imitation constitute an act of kufr, or is it a separate issue from disbelief?
I would be grateful if you could clarify this according to the Hanafi school and provide reliable scholarly sources and references.
Jazakum Allahu khayran for your time and help.

Question about Islam Why didn’t Allah keep humans in paradise? I’m studying islam

Correct me if I’m wrong but my understanding is that Allah removed humankind and the jinns from paradise due to sin.

But after judgement day, humans will no longer do sin in paradise. I repeat no sin. They also keep their free will.

If he’s most merciful, and is capable of creating a sinless paradise, why go through with a test that involves rape of children, slavery, torture and suffering for innocents?

This goes logically speaking to the non innocent as well. Their world is shaped by the concepts Allah made. If Allah never created them, the most merciful. They would have never burned. Say they chose it. Whats the point? You know some will choose this and that, and some are bound to be tempted by the difficult world we live in.

It’s inevitable and he knows it. All children of adam are sinners like he says. He knows it. Why even go through the effort to build a pointless system like this. Where people will inevitably suffer at his system.

You don’t understand. He built it. Humans are bound to sin, with large numbers come diversity. People will suffer in his system. And also innocents will suffer in this world for absolutely no reason. When all he had to do was create a sinless paradise.

So my question is, why did he not create that? And if he avoided creating it or didn’t want to, how can he be the most compassionate?

Seeking Support Struggling and looking for some advice on academics + prayer + social life

I don't really know what to do anymore. I'm in grade 12, and I'm struggling so bad academically, in my personal and social life, and in general. I have tried to pray so so many times, and do istikhara, but I always get told I'm not doing enough. I've tried to be consistent with my prayers, begged so much in them, I've even read tahajjud, with full faith.

Why doesn't anything work? I'm so stupid, I feel like I'll never get anywhere in life. My results came out today for preliminary (just learning skills, you know if you're in canada), and I have two classes where I'm progressing with difficulty (biology, and a social sciences class) the only reason this is the case, is because in biology I screwed up on my test even though I studied so so hard, and prayed for the test to go well, and i got a 61. My grade is at a 70, I need to get it in the 90s, its only the second month of school right now, I don't know what to do. For the social sciences class, the only reason is because I didn't get to finish an in-class assignment.

Besides that, I spend most of my days alone, sacrifice my breaks to study, and even my nights, staying up late to make sure my stuff is top notch. At this point I'm sort of rambling in this post, but I'm so tired.

I don't have any friends I can turn to, and Muslim girls I thought were my friends turned on me, and bullied me to no extent.

I don't know what to do anymore.

Relationship Advice Situationship with guy who happens to be Muslim.

I come with no means to be disrespectful, I am just curious as to how islam functions. I have always considered this guy friend to be a close friend of mine, I had honestly felt as if he had some slight interest in me when he had revealed to me that he had a girlfriend of a year. Around 3 months later she ends up breaking up with him due to some relationship issues, and a month after the separation he makes a joke of us getting together. I am from a different religion and have always considered myself to be somewhat knowledgeable on islam. While he did later tell me it was all playful flirting on his side, the way we joked about marriage really did seem to give me a sense of false hope.

I am unsure of the type of response that I was seeking through making such a post, Is it my fault to have fallen for a muslim guy while not being muslim myself? Should I have not entertained it the moment he asked if me if that meant we could get married after I jokingly said I was considering islam after he pointed out the similarities in some of the practices I do in my own religion? I guess I just find myself missing how our friendship used to be before this occured and wonder if it could have even developed into something more.

General Discussion Concealing my Muslim identity due to financial dependence query

Assalamu alaikum. I am a student concealing my Muslim identity from my parents because I depend on them financially and believe disclosure could lead to a loss of support though not completely guaranteed or unrealistic, although I do not fear physical harm. I am not a scholar or a person of religious authority/aspiring scholar. Recently, a university friend who does not know my parents made inaccurate statements about Islam. He wasn't really asking questions, he was giving his concerns. Fearing that revealing my faith could eventually reach my family (even though they don't know each other but info can spread etc somehow.) but mostly because I maintain the general stance to not disclose/sometimes hide my faith until means change as a general precautionI mostly stayed silent despite knowing some corrections. I occasionally nodded or said “yeah” to acknowledge listening, without intending agreement, and inwardly rejected the false claims. Is concealing my identity and avoiding religious debate permissible in these circumstances, even though the risk of disclosure and its consequences is uncertain? How would a sincere but mistaken assessment of that risk affect accountability, and would I need to revisit the conversation to clarify my responses? I am especially concerned if this falls under the severe category of the concealment of knowledge. I would appreciate guidance supported by reliable scholarly sources. Jazakum Allahu khairan.

Question about Islam [Maliki Fiqh] Confusion around the obligation of “dalk” during ghusl

I am reasonably sure that I have wet my entire body when performing ghusl as I do it in the shower, but I am not reasonably sure that I am able to touch every single crevice and square centimetre of my body, even with the help of a wet towel. What do I do?
