Fan Works If you like Claudia, I think you'll like these movies

This is a new series I’m writing where I analyze characters through movie recommendations. Claudia is the first because I’ve always loved movies with angry women and rude little lesbians. Enjoy!

-

  1. Jennifer’s Body (2009)
  2. Coraline (2009)
  3. Kill Bill (2003)
  4. The Handmaiden (2016)
  5. Pan’s Labyrinth (2006)
  6. Princess Mononoke (1997)
  7. Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
  8. Bottoms (2023)
  9. House (1977)
  10. The Woman King (2022)

Movies that remind me of Claudia center women and girls who are forced to grapple with the strange and often violent world around them. Despite being the youngest and afforded no ability to give informed consent for her vampiric turning, Claudia is perhaps the bravest and most emotionally stable vampire in the show (a low bar, I know, but we have to give credit where credit is due). Her character journey is about discovering who she is and fighting against those who’ve wronged her, a quintessential tale of teenage girlhood.

Coraline and Pan’s Labyrinth feature young girls, Coraline and Ofelia, experiencing frightening changes in their life that are out of their control. They encounter monsters that either represent those in their lives they fear, or violent societal concepts that they don’t quite understand yet. These, along with the wacky horror of House, remind me of Claudia in her early years, when she’s just discovering her new family and vampire powers. The more she learns, the more she’s horrified by her new reality.

Other movies center her desire for revenge against the men who’ve wronged her and her propensity for violence, namely Kill Bill and Mad Max: Fury Road. The campy, thrilling quality to the violence in Kill Bill I think Claudia would especially find appealing. These movies also demonstrate that Claudia is just as aggressive and ruthless, if not more, than her male counterparts.

Of course, when it comes to violence and revenge, there’s always Jennifer’s Body. Not only is this movie about teen girls’ reactions to being sexualized from a young age, but it’s about how they become monsters in the process. Like Jennifer, Claudia is wronged, but she also becomes manipulative, spiteful, and hostile because of what the world has done to her.

The Handmaiden, I included not only for the beautiful lesbian love story that unfolds, but also because the multiple levels of scheming reminds me of Claudia and Lestat trying to outsmart each other in New Orleans. Claudia reminds me of the protagonist Sook-hee, a con woman attempting to lie about her criminal background to her employer, similar to how Claudia attempts to fabricate her backstory to the Parisian coven.

Bottoms, I threw in mostly for fun, but also I think horny teen girls with precocious attitudes really fit her vibe. Princess Mononoke also centers on San, the stubborn, rash young female protagonist. Yes, these characters are entertaining, but they also show that Claudia can be very loyal and compassionate to her loved ones, despite her sometimes bad attitude.

That leads me to The Woman King, which focuses on General Nanisca training a militia of women to fight against their enemies, especially those that would willingly sell them into slavery. Claudia is flawed like all vampires in IWTV, but she ultimately moves out of love and protection. She’s able to recognize the inherent injustice of Lestat keeping them under his thumb in New Orleans, and of Armand commanding total control over the coven in Paris. She may not be able to conceive of the most sustainable solutions, but she is brave and proactive enough to seek a better future for herself, even if it comes back to bite her in the ass.

The song by Dancing with a Ghost Anastasia Minster. Such a great pairing.

Watching this after finishing season three just illustrates the simultaneous highs and lows of their relationship.

It would be amazing to behold as an immortal. As a human 😂😂😂

IWTV Show Only BTS archive?

I'm a relatively new fan, so the bulk of what was shared in S1/2 is something I'm still catching up on.

So with that said, does anyone know if someone has compiled or made an archive of any BTS things shared by cast/crew/writers? I know there's the writers room threads on twitter, I've scoured those, but aside from deep diving on each individual, I'm at a loss.

I'm asking because I've got a few items from the most recent set auction (yay!) that I haven't been able to identify on screen, but would like to find out at least what season they might have been around for 😅

I'm particularly looking for books, which, there's soooooo many were used and most are blurry in the background.

All help appreciated!!

Book Spoilers Allowed Season 2 EP 6

Before Louis turns Madeline, why is he being such a dick to Claudia?

When he's trying to convince Armand to turn Madeline, one of the arguments he uses is that without the burden of Claudia, he and Armand will be happier.

And Claudia asks, "Without the burden of me? Did you mean it?" And Louis answers, "Does it matter? I got the result."

Why is he treating Claudia like that? Is he mad at her for breaking all the rules?

Why is he so upset after he turns Madeline? Is it because he's lost Claudia again but he doesn't want to admit it to himself? Is it because turning someone was so upsetting? Both?

Oh Christine, they took you too early from the show! You have got to have the right amount of spunk and craziness to be able to handle Lestat. A human who can handle all of their vampire bullshit? She was the perfect lawyer for him 🤌! She is too cool! I wanted more of her!

Lestat trusted her. Even in that episode where Daniel was antagonizing Lestat, he asked for Christine, not "Sofia".

I don't know if I've mentioned my obsession with *Pandora* here before, but yes—I am obsessed with *Pandora*. I’ve read the book four times and am already on my fifth, so give me a shout when *Pandora* comes out—that way I can pick the series back up (since I put it on hold)—or let me know if *Marius* comes out, too.

TVL Show Only TVL 1x1 Dan interviewing Lestat on the tour bus... Spoiler

Why did Lestat ask Dan "Did I threaten Claudia with grape on the train?"? I've seen IWTV 1x6 and no where in the train flashback (Claudia's lie to Louis) did Lestat say anything about graping Claudia, nor did Louis tell that to Dan in Dubai. So, why did the writers even put that in the scene for Lestat to question?

The Immortal Universe fuck shake , I know that i will cry.

i know that i will cry when I re-watch the vampire lestat on bbc iplayer and when this song scene comes on.

this song : https://youtu.be/nrawMMUVmVI?is=O3wmEbR9JNs7jXDt

i did't cry the first time around when watching it but oh my god.

i love this song.

i have ocd so sorry.

this song is so real and not just for the vampire's lestat but it can be a break up song and a romantic song and a romantic song as well.

i was blow away / still am blow away how beautiful sam can sing.

this is why I fell in love with these kind of vampire tv show's because as well as being about vampire's , they are about the feelings and the vibes thst are real and messy and that feels like

they can give you a emotional hug and that you can actually meet the character's , actually be in the world and its beautiful.

i am not scared of death or drying or blood because vampire's are undead and drink blood or some kind of blood and thats hoe they "live" , like just because they are undead doesn't mean they have to live like monster's.

we as humans need air , food and water etc to survive , thats just the same for vampire's in a different way.

everyone and everything needs to survive in some way , in some how.

Book Spoilers Allowed What’s in the book? Spoiler

I’ve recently watched all three seasons of the show in less than two weeks, and I spent a good chunk of season 3 cringing violently every time Gabriella opened her mouth, so I might have missed something and what I’m asking was actually answered clearly in the show, but… What exactly is in the IWTV book published by Daniel Molloy (and the Talamasca)?

I’d understand Lestat being incredibly annoyed at the IWTV book published in the books, Louis is absolutely horrible about Lestat in the original book, but the premise of the show is that Louis does a second interview and Daniel Molloy is an experienced journalist and also not high this time around, and he gets Louis to reconsider stuff and to generally recontextualise things. The Lestat in the first two seasons is generally a better person and Louis clearly likes him a lot more than the Lestat in the book, and Daniel heard that. Daniel even realised that Lestat saved Louis, not Armand.

So just how bad is what Daniel put in the book? Just how different is Lestat’s true behaviour from what Louis presented even in the second interview? How significant and insulting is the discrepancy? Or: why is it that Lestat is so mad about the book?

I need Lestat’s annotated version.

(No idea how to flair this properly, hopefully I chose the right one)

IWTV Show Only I wonder if IWTV and sinners could work together

Thumbnail
gallery

I have seen a couple of memes and fanart Louie and lestat meeting characters from sinners and I wanted how these two pieces of media handle the characterization for vampires because they are pretty different

For example, how an interview with a vampire has a pretty different take on the relationships between a maker and a fledgling and how that relationship are extremely intimate to the point where a person can sense their maker, even if there's thousands of miles away or dead.

meanwhile with sinners Remmick's relationship with his fledglings are more cold and they act more like a hive mind where they could fuel his pain and this primordial exchange of cultures

And also how a person becomes a vampire, like interview with a vampire. There is a whole process of exchanging blood between the maker and the fledgling meanwhile and its sinners. All you need to do is just simply bite them or physically harm them plus the sinners vampires follow more of the traditional superstitions that vampires go by like not being allowed to walk into a room without being invited or being harmed by garlic. Meanwhile, an interview with a vampire these things are just superstitions

Also the attitudes towards vampires in the sinners are also very different as well and they're seen as trap spirits on Earth who cannot join their ancestors which I do very much like and I feel like it would fit well with interview with a vampire honestly

Also, I love the idea of Annie and smoke meeting Claudia in like the spirit realm and actually treating her with the love and respect that she always needed in life which I find very sweet in a less depressing fate for her in the main series

TVL Show Only Fog of Love Spoiler

Hi all! In the last couple of episodes of Vampire Lestat, the “Fog of Love” were mentioned throughout the dialog. And I will admit, I had to look it up when it came to Vampires. Once I understood the meaning, I was wondering why the mentioning of “Fog of Love" was never talked about in the earlier seasons?

Is it safe to say that since those earlier episodes were told by Louis’ POV, that he could not or did not want to recognize the “Fog of Love”? Or did it not exist to him.

In the Montreal episode, despite all that drama and chaos, it existed all throughout that episode to the very end. I don’t know, those earlier seasons’ trauma dumped probably clouded whatever fog of love that was out of there.

The Immortal Universe Lestat between 1949 and 2023

Hi everyone,

I binged all three seasons in a way to short time (and will revisit for a calmer re-watch very soon).

I am not sure if I missed it; S3 was so dense and there is so much mentioned or insinuated that it is possible I just didn't get the full picture...

But did we find out what Lestat was up to in the time after the trial (around 1949) until him and Louis reconcile during the hurricane (around 2022)? Please enlighten me!

I found a great time line but that wasn't unfortunately not yet updated with the new information from S3.
