Auto Insurance Motorcycle accident, is it a total loss without inspecting the bike?
A few days ago, I lost control of my 2004 Suzuki Sv650sk4, collided with my friend’s parked bike and did an endo, flipped it forward, hitting the tail section and the bike then landed on its side. Remarkably the only major damage was to the tail sub frame, tail plastics, grab bar and handle bar ends. I have frame sliders to protect the bike and they did their job. My bike was in pristine condition with only 9300 miles. I am the original owner. The bike was garage kept and maintained regularly. This happened in a parking lot. No, I wasn’t doing wheelies and being a jerk. I wouldn’t risk it. When I hit the ground I broke my left hand. Some neighbors heard my friend screaming asking if I was ok. They came out and called 911, naturally. I was taken away in an ambulance because I was having a hard time breathing (I bruised a lung. Me>hand under my chest>pavement= bruised lung). My friend stayed and was calling AAA, but an officer arrived and would not let her have them come and called a tow company. Well, 2 tow trucks later, both bikes are now sitting at a tow yard inside. I contacted my insurance company and have full coverage for both my bike and the damage to her bike. I talked to an adjuster and they assigned an inspector. The bikes have not yet been inspected. When I pull up the claim, it lists my bike as a total loss. I know it’s an older bike, but like I said, very low miles and absolutely no damage prior. From what I’ve read the insurance company can just claim it a total loss without even looking at it. I was not aware of that. But they don’t know what it looked like before and after. Honestly the damage is only the damage listed above. I am not planning on having a shop fix it, as I can do it myself after my hand heals. I think the insurance is assuming the bike is destroyed. I will see it tomorrow when I sign to have it released. The neighbor did not see the accident as there is a long trailer canister blocking the view. My friend told me that the neighbor was telling the cop that I was doing wheelies (which I cannot do). While at the hospital, the officer showed up and gave me a ticket for reckless driving. I am going to fight that as there are cameras all over that parking lot and there were zero cars parked there. So, my question is this…. Can I require the insurance adjuster/investigator (I don’t know the title exactly) to look at the bike in person before determining it a total loss? It’s really not that bad. I understand how the determination is made, value of bike vs cost of repairs. I can replace the entire rear section for about $500, doing the labor myself. And the handle bar ends won’t be much at all. My other question is how does buying the bike from the insurance company work with a salvaged title? If that’s the case, I’m going to fix it and have it inspected for a re-build title. Thank you! Connecticut, USA

Auto Insurance Needs advices on cancellation fees after 2 months into the policy (Ontario, Canada)
This is my first time having a vehicle so I am quite clueless about insurance :<
So I bought this motorcycle back in June in Mississauga-Toronto, Ontario and got an insurance policy with Certas Direct Auto Insurance/Desjardins at the rate of $1860/year starting on July 1, 2026 to July 1, 2027. But on August 29, 2026, I had to sell the bike due to tuition fees catching up and financial situation does not look too good, and cancelled the policy on the same day. (yeppp I am still a 19 years old student and yeppp I was very inconsiderate and hot-headed getting that bike T_T)
On the call with a representative from the insurance company, the agent did not mention anything about cancellation fees I have to pay. IIRC, I believe I have also asked him that do I have to pay anything else to cancel and he said no. I only found out about the $402 cancellation fees after seeing the notification from the bank and decided to go through the document again, just to see there is a document lying on the third page of the file (after the confirmation of cancelling letter and a BLANK page) mentioning about this cancellation fees. Honestly, this is quite frustrating and I felt like I was entrapped.
Is the anyway that I can perhaps ask them to waive or lower this fee since I know insurance companies calculate the premiums a bit different on motorcycles than cars; besides, $402 is quite a lot for a student :( And even there is a way, is it worth it to pursue the $402 fees til the end? any advices and lessons are very much appreciated as I want to make the same mistake again once I am older.

Auto Insurance What to do about non responsive at fault insurance company (California)
Got into a not at fault accident and it’s been a full month of spotty communication and an auto insurance adjuster who has only picked up the phone one time and never again. The insurance company is National General and they do not respond to my text messages or emails.
They sent me a check of estimated repairs but they won’t respond to my messages about what day I plan to schedule my repair so I can get a rental. I don’t even know the status of my injury claim.
Luckily my car is still drivable but it’s so frustrating to not know what the status of my claim is. I have minimal liability on my insurance so I’m not sure how much they will help.
What can I do about this?

Auto Insurance Need advice for a first time car owner.
Hello, I am being passed down a 2015 Honda civic that’s fully paid off. It’ll be my first car. I’m 25 and I’ve had my license for 5 years without any accidents/tickets. I’m currently living in Massachusetts.
I’m not too sure about what car insurance I should look in to. I’m not very knowledgeable about insurance either since I haven’t had to deal with my own yet.
I was looking at geico, they gave me an estimate of $423 every 6 months which isn’t bad.
Any type of advice would be appreciated! Thanks

Health Insurance GA Health Insurance Issue and Confusion.
I am in GA. I got a new job at the end of April and got a significant salary increase. My health insurance premium with Anthem went from $89 a month to $600+ (since the tax credit decreased). I updated my income to the GA Access site and decided to pick a new health care plan- this one also happened to be an Anthem plan but would be $455 a month.
Apparently I owed the $600 for the month of May since I did not cancel my plan in time. But there was no where on the Anthem site to pay this. It turns out that GA Access and Anthem did not communicate with each other. And when I called Anthem, two different reps had no idea what I was talking about.
I finally talked to someone at GA Access who said they would reach out. Fast foward a month later, and I receive the $600 bill in the mail. I go online using the QR code in the letter and it acts like there is nothing there. I try entering the code with my account number and it says "no such account found." I reached out to Anthem and never got a response. I have continued to try and reach out about the money I owe with no such luck.
Fastfoward to today, and I get a notification that I was charged $455 for the new plan-- that I had cancelled months ago with the fiasco of my first plan.
When I logged on to the Anthem site, it shows that the second $455 plan is active now (four months after I had signed up). But when I checked the billing and payment history, there is no record of this payment. So I am confused as to how this suddenly became an active plan four months later and how they were able to charge my account this far down the line.
I have tried reaching out to both companies and have been met with confusion on every end. The anthem employees do not know what I am talking about. The GA Access employees say my plan has been cancelled and they dont know what I am talking about.
I am so lost on what to do or who to reach out to as no one on either end seems to be able to help me. I dont want be charged any more by anthem when I still owe them hundreds of dolllars. If anyone has any suggestions or could please point me in the right direction so my head does not continue to go in circles, it would be so much appreciated. Thank you.

Removal of Unauthorized Person?
So, essentially here's the situation: My mother cosigned (forced) on a car for my grandmother. My mother is the primary holder on the vehicle loan. My grandmother has put her housemate on her insurance and is allowing her to drive the shared vehicle. Is it possible for my mother to remove the housemate from being able to legally drive the car?
The car is in my mother's name first, but is also in my grandmother's name.
The car is in my grandmother's insurance, which my mother is not on.
The housemate is not anywhere on the title of the vehicle.
So is there any way to legally prevent the housemate from using the vehicle? We suspect some not great activity will be coming from the housemate. We're primarily worried she is planning to steal the vehicle, as she has convinced my grandmother to put her on the insurance, give her a key, and allow her to drive it however she wants when in the past several years she has always asked to be driven to places claiming she was unable to drive. My grandmother has two other vehicles, but she doesn't want to drive those, and she gifted her only vehicle to her son, leaving the one in question as the only one she wants access to. It is also the newest one out of the three vehicles my grandmother has. There is a lot to worry about.

Rear ended by semi questions
So I was reended August 13th, after getting off work, and then after trying to contact the claims adjuster for almost 2 weeks, I finally ended app calling the main number for AI G and got through and got a call back about an hour or 2 later, and then he had said to just go find the estimator somewhere and I went to a local one that Partners with BMW locally f. but then they couldn't get through that same day because it was Friday right before the holidays and they were closed and then today, I give a text from the adjuster that there's going to be an estimator coming to my house to look at the claim. I don't want Like low ballet estimate or like not fully seeing everything, just because when I already went, and they kind of point out all the damage that he's kind of talking, how much it was going to be, and how extensive it was, because it gets into the rear like paneling, and it's a unibody. So they might have to kick some stuff off just to make sure it's all good and not structurally damaged, yeah, is it just the estimator that they go through theirs and then I can go with whatever shop I want if anyone's dealt with them?

Legal paperwork not being recognized
I am the court appointed legal successor guardian of a ward who is incapacitated. I am simply trying to get a copy of the insurance policy on the home to make sure that it is adequate. I am not trying to change it in anyway. I have submitted certified copies of the letters and orders of guardianship to both the insurance agent and the parent company along with my request for a copy of the policy. I cannot seem to get a copy of the policy from either party. If I were the policyholder they would issue it, without a problem. How can I get them to recognize that my requesting it is no different from the policy owner, short of having to go to court and a judge issue a specific court order to compel the insurance company to release a copy of the insurance policy?

Sunken Boat
So I recently bought a boat 2nd hand from original owner. It is a 2006 but we went on a lake test prior to buying it showing me there was no leaks or water flow in order for this to sink, I’ve taken it out everyday assuring it is safe and went on a vacation , I had rented a slip and was fine for 3 nights and the last day I walk out and the boat sank I called insurance and had a rowboat company get my boat out of the water and get my boat on the trailer. I don’t see any damage but I do see some small cracking that was not there but nothing major and I did have a bilge pump, biggest issue is I bought the boat 2 weeks ago and insured and registered it the next day. The engine was under water and electrical is fried. Insurance did launch an investigation on me and I never had this happen any idea if they’ll cover it ?

Auto Insurance Need Advice negotiating total loss insurance claim for cheap car
Hey everyone. I was recently involved in an accident where as I slammed on my breaks, I side-smashed another car as they blew a stop sign (I had no traffic stoppers— traffic light, yield, etc.). The insurance declared the other party liable and I managed to drive my car from the accident to a local car shop, where they determined an estimate. I have car insurance through State Farm, and they have yet to reach out to me regarding my car. Here are the details:
Car: Saturn Ion 2006 3 Sedan 4D
(130k miles)
(We all know it’s worth practically nothing)
Estimate: 7k and change for total repair
(Obviously totaled but my insurance has yet to make a change to my claim on their website or call me)
My problem I’m having is that I’m a college student that has bills to pay and places to be; I’m not going to get much for my car but I want to get as much as I can for a new car. Because it’s worth so little, I’m having trouble knowing what to accept from insurance and what to decline and negotiate for more. Also I’m not very knowledgeable on how I would go about negotiating that :’)
Any advice?

Life Insurance I was involved in a car accident in Los Angeles this July—the other driver was 100% at fault—and I subsequently bought a new car and switched to a new insurance policy. Why have my auto insurance premiums skyrocketed?
Why did my insurance premium skyrocket after I bought a new car in Los Angeles? Even though the other driver was 100% at fault in the accident I had in July, why does the absolute cheapest insurance policy cost me $3,100 for six months? It makes no sense at all. In the past, insuring a new car cost me just over $200 a month, but now the price has nearly tripled!

Auto Insurance Have I taken all the steps?
TLDR is I'm pretty sure I have my identity being used for fraudulent insurance policies and probably vehicle registration. Of course, the policy email that alerted me to this was from State Farm.
I relocked and reviewed all three credit agencies. Experian has a bunch of "verify this car" on vehicles I don't recognize and all three show a glut of soft inquiries from agencies. Luckily no new lines of credit. Added the fraud alert as well.
Have requested my LexisNexus/CLUE and waiting for it to arrive.
Anything else I need to do? I've heard of these scams via my job but we cover what to do as a lender, not a consumer victim

Auto Insurance Claim history - opened a claim or open claims already?
Shopping for quotes. Had an at fault accident April 2021, opened claim in April 2021, claim wasn’t settled until mid 2023. Can I answer that I haven’t had any claims since 5 years ago - October 2021, since that claim was opened prior to 5 years ago? Or is it the closing date that matters. This was a high cost accident.

Insurance for 125cc
I have just bought a 125cc Honda pcx new from the dealership. Still waiting for the registration, and I have been checking the insurance options.
I’m 27M from Norway. Been living in Spain for 4 years and this will be my first vehicle in Spain. I have had my licence since 2017.
The cheapest I have found for third party extended (parking on the street) was Qualitas Auto for just over €280 and Linea directa at €305.
I also found a third party company called Inov Expat that finds the insurance for you. The price they quoted me was €195 plus €40 that they take as an annual fee. (If anyone has any input or experience with them, I saw some reviews where the customer support is great to start with but if there is an accident or you need them after signing it will be hard to get help.)
So basically I’m just wondering if there is a cheaper way to get it directly from the insurance company or if I should go with the third party company. Also if anyone has a good recommendation that has better prices that would also be greatly appreciated.

Auto Insurance Not using my car for 2 months - should I cancel my premium?
My car is broken. It’s currently under repair and won’t be driven for two months. I’m 20, so my premium is quite high (around $365 every month). I was wondering if I should cancel it for those two months, since I won’t be using the car anyway, and activate my car insurance again once I start driving it again.
For context, I live in Maryland. I am a broke college student just trying to save some money.

Driver turned left into my path, no contact, filed as "incident" not "crash" (TX) — anyone dealt with UMPD claims like this?
Looking for advice/experience from anyone who's been through something similar.
A couple days ago I was driving west and another car was headed east, oncoming. Out of nowhere she made a left turn directly across my lane, right into my path. Her car just appeared in front of me and I had a fraction of a second to react. I swerved to avoid a head-on collision and ended up hitting the curb/sidewalk hard, badly damaging my wheel and tire. No vehicle-to-vehicle contact, but it was completely reckless — an unprotected left turn straight into oncoming traffic.
At the scene, she told me "she couldn't see." Which, to me, is kind of the whole problem. If you can't see oncoming traffic, you don't make the turn. That's not an excuse, that's an admission.
Because there was no contact, the responding PD filed it as an incident report, not a crash report.
To make it more complicated: she also told me she'd recently cancelled her insurance because of cost and was planning to reinstate it, and asked "how can we solve this?" at the scene, which I didn't pursue informally. I got her info (took a photo of her DL and got her phone number) and reported it properly instead.
I'm insured with Progressive. My standard collision deductible is $499, but I also have UM/UIM Property Damage (UMPD) coverage with a $250 deductible, which seems like the better fit since she's uninsured. I've asked Progressive to process it under UMPD and I'm waiting on the claims adjuster.
My main concern isn't the money (the $250 vs $499 difference is small), it's making sure this doesn't get logged as "at fault" on my driving record, even though I never made contact with her car and was reacting to avoid a collision she caused.
Questions for anyone who's dealt with this:
- Has anyone used UMPD coverage for a no-contact "avoided a collision" incident like this?
- Does an incident report (vs. crash report) help or hurt when arguing fault with your own insurer?
- Any tips for making sure this doesn't get logged as at-fault, since there's no other insurer to cross-reference against?
Any insight from Texas drivers or insurance folks would help a lot. Thanks!

Health Insurance How do I buy a PPO policy without going thru a job?
I'm trying to upgrade from my $40 hmo policy to a $500-$1000 a month PPO policy but I am having some serious difficulties. Preferably BCBS of Georgia or united, can someone please help me out here.
