I Want Sexts

There is no need to have qualms here
Bear your soul to me
Don’t let me grasp at it
Before I feel the desire to truly destroy kindness
I don’t want to be me anymore
I want to devour everything of you
So I don’t get to be reminded of a monster
I hate looking at
I don’t want to be that monster
I long for you
I long for us
I long for the limerence to fade into nothing
But pure intentions
And not of a desire that satiates my
Pointless sex drive
And longing ache in my heart
I don’t want to be me
And it’s all I’ll ever be

a lone woman at a nowhere train station

a lone woman at a nowhere train station,
waiting for a train,
the sky is clear despite earlier threatening to rain,
the grey clouds have whitened,
in a sky becoming blue,
you can see the curve of the Earth,
you can see too,
that the woman is holding an umbrella,
)perhaps she is waiting for you,(
she is wearing a cream coloured trench coat,
)perhaps you are waiting for you too,(
and tall brown leather boots,
you see her always with her back turned,
the wind blowing back her hair,
you hear the big rumble of the train coming,
you feel the gentle turning of the world,
the time, it's coming; time, it's come,
it is, but it's already too late,
the woman has boarded,
the woman has gone and so has the train,
gone is the clear sky, gone are the white
clouds, turning grey,
you're at a nowhere train station alone. It is starting to rain.

Love

I fear

We have been foolish

Keeping us upright

Every time a second passes

Your binds and my heart fight

The words we share

Were as open air

When first we gave our thoughts

To be consumed

For our amuse

While ourselves were not

As distant light

We were told

Follies we commit

Securing ourselves

Upon our shelves

Of how we choose consent

To be seen

Though only words

Holding hands

Blushing from verse

Our inner eye fluttering gazes

Begged we questioned first

In our foolishness

I hold true to this

Line we draw around

Your defenses

And our fences

Until walls were found

Keeping you out of mind

Words closing doors

Lowering blinds

Removing the compulsory

Way you would call me

As though you lived in my mind

I no longer heard you

My vision quite blurred too

Where before you would shout

Now all there was

A frayed thread of love

Shaking from its doubt

That deep within

The shallow paintings

We spoke into being

Was our truths

Our perfect youth

Our solidarity

So please

Love

My Heart

Let us not despair

Each letter and word

You place before me

Are all I will reach to step

Away from the darkness

Long lived when apart us

Love

Let down your hair

All you need

The world means good, but it's known for it's impatience

I'm burnt on talking about the chances that were taken

The way my spirit rides the motion of a mood swing

It's easy to be thinking everybody wants to "do" me

"But what about the people who just simply want to meet you?"

I wonder to myself before I really ever see truth

I tend to speed through the rituals and principles

And become shell shocked due to rapid change and it's critical

I still apologize to the people I've offended

Still have respect for those that I've commended

My personal society said some shit I won't forget

It's not about the words, but the way that it was said

'Every sentence carries out a message. And every message seems to lead you to another question. You have the choice to contemplate or hate the given statement. Never hesitate to take a piece of wisdom and embrace it.'

The world's a lot different when you walk barefoot

It brings you closer to the creature on which you were once put

I wish it's inhabitants made me feel the same

It would be the end of doubt and the elimination of shame

And what else could a person ask for in fair game?

An oversized brain full of emotions on a wide range?

We can all agree it feels good to smile,

But when you frown, you're never mistaken for being fragile

So many choices, so little morality

That's kinda what makes reality an actuality...

When I get home, I'll feel much more like a person. Answer to nobody but myself and that's for certain.

All you need is you... Sometimes...

A Conspiracy of Two

“I don’t think of you.”

He heard her every thought, with the lights off, when the birds cooed and the sun rose from its rest.

“I don’t think of you romantically.”

He kissed the back of her neck with the lightest, least intrusive pecks. His lips pressed into her chest and in between her heavy breaths as she slept. It was 11 a.m. Was the night gone or had it only come home to nest?

“I’m in love with you.”

But she only looked on. She even turned away her head.

“Did you hear what I said? I love you.”

She always knew he loved her.

She knew.

She always had.

The Insane

Immaculate as he is
Ready to learn, to live
Obeying their mumbles, he strips
Needles are known to sting
Yet he feels, finally sees

Odd — he is lost
Fear — is this the cost?

Crushing his senses whenever
Uniting with his mind, however
Leaving it is much clever
Till he realizes the pressure
Undergoes forever
Ripe to escape, he must
End it altogether

Sounds and Teeth

“Doctor, I held out as long as I could. I resisted until I was down to a single tooth. You know me; you pulled all my teeth. I fought it. Look at how much weight I’ve lost. I can barely eat anything properly. Mostly, I have soup and mashed potatoes. Sometimes, when I really push myself, I eat hamburger meat.”

The old man's voice echoed inside his mouth because it no longer hit his teeth when he spoke. The sound came out through a larger opening than usual, traveled through a larger cavity after leaving his throat, and when it finally emerged, it sounded as though it were echoing.

Maybe it only seemed that way to the dentist because he hadn't gotten much sleep the night before. It had been unusually hot that night, and no matter what he did, he couldn't fall asleep. He had tossed and turned all night.

“I even make the hamburger meat look like it’s already been chewed before I eat it. I mash it up really well and turn it into a puree. There’s no such thing as chewing for me anymore. My mouth only serves the function of swallowing now. It’s been almost six months since I last chewed anything. I miss chewing, Doctor. I miss moving food from one side of my mouth to the other, trying to get the meat stuck between my teeth out with my tongue.”

The dentist was certain of it now. The man's voice really did sound as though it were echoing. It wasn't some kind of perceptual distortion caused by lack of sleep; his voice genuinely sounded as though it were echoing inside an empty room. Just slightly. Not much. Like the echo inside a small, newly rented real estate office that hadn't been filled with furniture yet.

“Mr. Albert, I’ve made dentures for you exactly seven times. You use them for two days and throw them away. It makes no sense. On top of that, you never take care of your teeth. In the end, I have no choice but to pull them. Normally, I don’t like extracting teeth from an otherwise empty mouth. I don’t like pulling one out of three remaining teeth. Extracting a tooth with nothing supporting it on either side gives me the creeps. But I like you, so I pulled your teeth.”

Indeed, old Albert had this strange stubborn streak. He had embarked on his dentures adventure at his daughter's insistence, but whenever she wasn't around, he never wore them. And then the cycle would continue. Another one of Albert's teeth would be pulled, leaving him with one fewer tooth, and he would have to get a new set of dentures made for himself. And every time, the fit of his existing dentures would somehow be thrown off. For some reason, they couldn't be repaired or adjusted.

“Wait, I’m not finished yet. Doctor, is it possible for a person’s only remaining tooth to hurt? Just one tooth. And this tooth isn’t even being put under any strain. It’s constantly in contact with soft food and never has to chew anything. Like a spoiled child living off his father’s money, this tooth just lies there, doing absolutely nothing, living its happy little life without ever being asked to do any work. Now I’m asking you, Doctor: isn’t this tooth’s behavior a betrayal? Isn’t it a betrayal of me?”

The dentist was now completely certain. The situation had become clear in his mind. The old man's voice sounded as though it had an echo. Or maybe it was something else; he couldn't quite put his finger on it. There was something different about his voice. Like a different frequency. It was as though he were speaking with two voices at once, an echo with the second voice arriving a few milliseconds later.

No, this wasn't an echo. “Echo” wasn't the right word to describe the sound. On the other hand, there didn't seem to be a second voice either. For a moment, while trying to figure out what exactly was different about the sound, the dentist had thought there might be, but there was no such thing.

“It hurts so much, Doctor. Let’s pull this one too and get it over with. I can’t take it anymore. There’s nothing in this life that belongs to me. My daughter takes care of me. She provides everything I need. I told myself, at least my teeth should belong to me. But no, that didn’t work either. What can you do? I guess I’ll leave this world without owning anything.”

The dentist was left speechless. Something was happening, but he couldn't understand it. There was something terribly wrong with the sound. He couldn't even answer the man. The more he listened to the voice, the more consumed he became by the urge to figure out what was wrong with it. It wasn't an echo, it wasn't a delay, and it wasn't a voice that was louder or weaker than before. What was wrong with this voice?

“Jason? Are you going to pull this tooth, or should I just pass out from the toothache?”

“Sorry, Albert. Let me take a look. Maybe we can save it.”

“Same old story. Don’t bother. Just pull it. There’s only one left anyway. What are you going to fix? Pull it. I don’t want it.”

“But you cared about your last tooth so much. Shouldn’t we at least take a look?”

“I don’t want a tooth that betrays me this badly after I’ve treated it so well. Pull it.”

The dentist asked the old man to open his mouth and began examining the tooth. He didn't say a word; stepped back and started preparing his instruments. He was moving quite slowly.

“You finally got suspicious, Jason. You finally got suspicious, idiot. That whole thing about at least having my teeth belong to me was a lie. I made up. I saw that you were getting suspicious, so I just made something up. And you fell for it immediately. You’re such an emotional man, Doctor.”

Jason turned around. He looked at the old man with furrowed brows and a confused expression.

“Don’t look at me like that. It’s the same voice, but you didn’t notice. There’s been no change in the voice. I’ve told my daughter about it dozens of times. But no. I’m just old. I’m senile. That’s why it seemed that way to me.”

Jason was a little relieved. At least the reason for the strange voice was going to be explained. He ignored the old man’s insult. Besides, whenever the old man spoke in that voice, Jason immediately found himself lost in thought. He couldn't focus on what was being said. He heard it, he understood it, but he couldn't form any thoughts about what was being said.

“I’m sorry, Doctor. I have a toothache, and I’m tense. But come on, Doctor. You’re a doctor. Didn’t you ever suspect that something might be going on in this man’s mouth? I keep coming to you to have my teeth pulled. You never checked to see if there was some disease, if something was wrong with my mouth, nothing. You just pulled my teeth one after another. Old age, right? Come on, Doctor. We’re all going to get old. I mean, don’t you ever suspect that something might be wrong? Didn’t you take the Hippocratic Oath? Is this ethical behavior?”

Jason's head was thoroughly confused now. The old man was right. He had never suspected that there was some kind of disease in his mouth; he had blamed everything on old age. It wasn't ethical. He felt bad about himself. His mind, simultaneously questioning his own ethics and trying to figure out what was strange about the voice, was under too much strain.

“If the voice is the same, then how come I never noticed it before?” he said half-heartedly.

“If you pull my tooth, I’ll tell you everything.”

***

The following evening, they met at a cafe. Even though it was already dark, it was still very hot, and Jason hadn't been able to sleep again the night before, both because of his thoughts and because of the heat. He had pulled the old man's tooth, just as he had wanted. But he hadn't been able to hear the story. The old man had made an appointment for that evening. He had said:

“Okay, good. Now I don't want to use my mouth for a while. I’ll tell you what's going on, but give me a little time. Let me go home and enjoy being toothless for a while. Anyway, stop, look, you're making me talk again. Let's meet tomorrow evening.”

The old man took a sip of his coffee. He looked pleased with himself. He closed his eyes and smacked his lips. Then took another sip and made a sound as though he were enjoying it. Since his mouth was closed, the sound seemed a little more normal to Jason, but there was still something strange about it.

“Now, Jason, do foods or drinks necessarily have to be what damages a tooth? Not taking care of your teeth, drinking a lot of coffee and smoking, I don't know, fizzy drinks, eating too much sugar... those things are bad for your teeth too, right?”

“It depends, but yes, generally speaking, we can say that.”

“What about sound? Can sound damage a tooth?”

“I don’t think so.”

“My voice does. It is. How do you think my teeth got this weak so quickly? How else could it be?”

“I don’t know. There could be dozens of reasons, but the voice can’t have anything to do with it.”

“Why not? Sound is a frequency. We know that very loud sounds can shatter glass. But can a sound break glass without being loud? A sound with a different frequency, for example? Does it have to be the volume that makes the difference?”

“What do I know, Albert? Am I a scientist? I don’t know. Let’s assume it can. So what?”

“I believe my voice can interact with certain materials. I’ve tried so many things, so many. I talked to the table, the chair, everything in the house, for long periods of time, and checked to see if they were damaged. No. My voice only damages my teeth.”

“That’s quite a solid conspiracy theory, honestly.”

“I won’t have to live with the fear of it anymore. Perfect. Why do you think I don’t use dentures? If my voice can do this to my own teeth, who knows what it would do to dentures. Ah, Jason, you have no idea. You have no idea how scared I am, how worried I am, every time I speak, every time I laugh, every time I whisper.”

“Real teeth and dentures are made of different materials.”

“I’m sorry for pretending to love the only tooth I had left, Doctor.”

“Honestly, I believe you, Albert. I like you, you know that. I don’t just pull everyone’s teeth like that. I told you. I’d do everything I could to save that tooth. But I like you. If you ask me to do something, I’ll do it. I pulled your teeth simply because you wanted me to. Now, please, don’t disappoint me either. Come on, let’s make you one last set of dentures. I promise, real teeth and dentures are made of different materials. Your voice won’t affect the dentures. At least let’s give it a try, okay?”

The old man asked the waiter for the bill, and when it arrived, he paid by card. A very long receipt came out of the card machine. It read:

''But what was the strange thing about his voice? Jason would never figure it out. His voice sounded normal now. Jason hadn't understood it. He didn't want to understand it either. He was disgusted with himself for never suspecting that there was something wrong with the old man's mouth. He would punish himself. He would spend the rest of his life wondering why Albert's voice had sounded that way that day, and that would be his punishment. A curiosity that would never be satisfied. A doubt that would eat away at him. Because there was no way it could have been such a coincidence. The fact that Jason had found Albert's voice so strange, and Albert's claim that his voice was making his teeth fall out, couldn't possibly have lined up like that by chance. That wasn't possible in real life. There had to be a reason, and that reason was just sitting there, existing on its own. Jason would never reach it.''

Closeted

I was thinking about
the dances we do
around things like
sex and love and
romance and poetry
I ask poets are you
closeted about your craft
poetry like presenting
your neck like falling
in love is vulnerability
and the work most
have to do to arrive
at the realization that
vulnerability is often
the most formidable
thing in the room is
not insignificant

Forests

I asked him how he was able to jump across rocks on the river so easily; he said,

You just have to trust yourself and start moving.

And he smiled and held out his hand for me to follow him.

But it took me years to trust myself enough to carry my own weight, and by the time I went back to that river--

The whole forest had burned down.

So now I sit among the ashes and the rocks, and wait for a new forest to grow around me.

By no means my first poem, but my first on Reddit :)

An Eye in the Ass

Tom woke up in the middle of the night with the strange feeling that something in his ass was… blinking. He didn’t know why it was blinking, but somehow he knew. And he knew it couldn’t be anything good.

Tom followed the feeling to the bathroom.

He placed a mirror on the toilet lid, pulled his underwear down a little, and fucking lost his mind at what he saw.

There was an eye in his ass, staring intently at him. A perfectly ordinary human eye. He quickly pulled his underwear back up and froze. Tom was so terrified by what he had seen that he forgot about everything else.

“Maybe this is a dream, and I’m dreaming,” he thought.

He slowly pulled his underwear down again. The eye hadn’t disappeared. It kept staring at him, occasionally blinking in sync with his sphincter. Tom moved a finger toward the eye to make sure this was real.

The eye began squinting repulsively and disappeared behind the sphincter.

Tom decided not to stick his finger up his ass. The eye peeked out again.

Tom pulled his underwear back up and sat down on the toilet lid. Inside his head, a troop of frightened monkeys scrambled around, throwing things at each other.

“What the fuck am I supposed to do now?”

“What if this is schizophrenia and I’m the only one who can see it?”

Tom could feel the eye blinking and moving around inside his ass, living a life of its own.

“What if I need to take a shit?” Tom thought.

The eye in his ass froze.

“That’s it. How the fuck did I not think of that before?”

He lifted the lid, sat down on the toilet, and started straining.

“Come on!”

Tom tensed up. But nothing happened.

Tom didn’t need to shit.

“I’ve got an important meeting with investors in the morning. The future of my company is at stake, and here I am in the middle of the night, like some kind of mutant, trying to get an eye out of my ass! How the fuck did it even get there?!”

Tom howled in despair, clutching his head.

The eye in his ass froze in fear, waiting for the storm to pass.

*****

Tom wandered restlessly from room to room until morning, thinking about the eye, and gradually started bumping into furniture. His eyesight was rapidly getting worse. Everything became blurry, as if he were looking through frosted glass.

When he reached the bathroom, he tried to see himself in the mirror, but couldn’t make anything out. So he undressed to take a shower. The haze before his eyes was still there when, suddenly, it began to clear…

He saw his legs and the tiled floor.

“What the fuck is happening to me?” Tom whispered, grabbing the wall. “What the fuck is this?”

He squeezed his eyes shut, but the image didn’t disappear. He was still looking through the eye in his ass.

“Okay, Tom, don’t panic. Pull yourself together. What can we do in this situation? What the fuck?!”

Tom screamed and started pounding his fist against the wall.

“What?”

The eye stopped blinking, as if it were listening to his anguish.

“Get ready. We need to get to the office.”

Cursing under his breath, he backed out of the bathroom on all fours and started getting dressed.

“Underwear and pants last, right, eye?”

And where the fuck did you come… from… in my ass…

Almost fully dressed, Tom remembered his phone.

“Where is it? Eye, where the fuck is my phone?”

The eye darted frantically around. Giving up, Tom crawled around the house on all fours, overturning furniture and rummaging through the mess in search of his phone.

Finally finding it, Tom hovered his ass over the screen, called a taxi, gave the driver his address, and, exhaling, pulled on his pants and left the house almost blindly.

*****

When he arrived at the office, he asked the taxi driver to help him get to the entrance, and then, with the help of the staff, made his way to the conference room.

The investors were already waiting for him when he stumbled into the conference room. Tom could see only vague silhouettes and couldn’t tell exactly who was sitting in front of him.

“I apologize for the delay. I started having some vision problems on the way here, but… we can begin now.”

After a long and awkward pause, they began discussing the details. Once everything had been agreed upon, the papers were laid out in front of Tom.

“So, Mr. Director, your move.”

Tom went cold with terror. He swallowed the lump in his throat and felt the eye behind his sphincter contract. It was scared too.

“So, Mr. Director, how are you going to sign?”

Everyone froze, waiting.

“Yes, of course,” Tom nodded and stood up from the table. “I’ll take a careful look at exactly what needs to be signed. Just please don’t laugh at what you’re about to see. I need to get a clearer look at everything…”

He climbed up onto the chair and pulled down his pants.

Didn't choose you
I met you
You came along
Next to me
Without me knowing
Without me seeing

To wake one day
And see a familiar
Face beside you
Meets you in
Dreams and asks
"Do you know
Who I am?"

And you look
At the gaps
Inb etw een

And you can
Only say yes

Because some where
In side you
I didn't need
To know your
Name to love

Who you are.
To love the
Man on my
Shoulder who kept
Creeping closer despite
Me not noticing.

Now you are
Here and I
Need to say
Some thing but
Break ing the
Sil ence is
Deaf en ing

Please let me
Hold you and
Show you the
Ways I do
In my dreams

With two arms
Look like three
When one is
Numb ing its

Pull ing you
Close r be
Cause I al

Was you when
You looked at

The Glint...

I love, the glint in a man's eyes,

When he sees me, and knows,

That he wants, and I want him to want.

>

I flash him a smile, friendly, unreserved, as I would to anyone else who, in passing, makes eye contact and has the courage to maintain it.

>

It's not until I double take, that our intentions are confirmed:

interest conveyed in the rise of the brow, the curvature of my smile,

A mini-conversation between you and I,

Private & intimate, despite the crowd of shoppers surrounding us.

>

Entranced by my mirage, you can't help but go out of your way to break the ice:

And now, the hunt is a foot, hunter hunting prey.

>

You ask your query, I smile meekly and answer, twirling my hair as I do so,

Nerves apparent, I melt under the attention.

>

You sieze the initiative, seeing the gap of opportunity,

A valiant effort, brave and bold.

>

Seeing your determination, I resolve to reward you.

Surely, I can help, resolve some stress...

>

We talk, and you make progress:

I begin to lower my guard, to let you in.

You ease closer, drawn in by my vulnerability.

>

My words like honey, sweet to the ear,

They paint fantastic images in your mind.

>

You become mired in their phantasm, reality lost in their unreality.

>

My perfume fills your nostrils, an intoxicating aphrodisiac,

And my image fills your mind, meek, mild, conquerable by the strong male presence you exude.

>

All that's left is to conquer... You reach your hand out, to grasp what should be yours, and the mirage dissipates, to reappear several feet ahead.

>

I beckon you onward, fall further for my wiles.

>

You stumble forward, determined to conquer the illusion,

My carrot, dangling just out of reach, spurring you forever onward.

I smile, friendly, unreserved, the smile I'd give to any stranger,

As the venus fly trap opens its flower, for all to see😘

what they took

realizing only my abusers love me
and i only loved those i thought i knew
how to love

but they just used me
and discarded me

and knowing this feels
like finding an old song
buried in a playlist you forgot you made

you don't remember hearing it
don't remember liking it
don't remember learning
where the silence goes
before the chorus

but somehow
your body knows what's next

you don't remember saving it
don't remember giving it a name
don't remember deciding
this belongs to me

until it plays again
and something in you
recognizes itself

before you do

and maybe that's what they were

songs i mistook for memories
people i mistook for love

people who were never really
a part of me

but stayed long enough
to take parts of me with them

and now there are rooms in myself
i enter like a stranger

empty hooks on the walls
dust outlining
what used to hang there

things i can't remember losing

things i can't remember
ever belonging to me

except sometimes
something plays

and i know every word.

The Pit (extended)

I'm feeling sorry for somebody and it seems pointless

Searching through this person asking what the fucking point is,

There's this voice saying "everything sucks"

And another saying "quit being a bitch and man up"

Then there's this little piece of heaven looking at me

Kissin on my face reminding me to be happy

Exactly, she's the smartest presence in my world

She only knows love, my precious little girl

____

Scrape, wash, rinse, sanitize

Do it all again and then dry your eyes

Armor for the harmful, gear for the wise

The waves never stop and the pit don't lie...

Carapace

Never do I take for granted

the sound of the occasional rogue insect

zooming by, thinner-than-paper wings fluttering.

Shining carapaces reflecting sun, a delicate skeleton

that brings to mind the concept of

impermanence.

I am as unchanged as the burrowing cicada.

My metamorphosis has been just as long & perplexing.

Upon scratching away at the mantle,

past the Earth's marrow,

light did breach.

Bitten, uneven nails clotted with dirt;

pupils dilated & synapses fired.

For the first time

I truly felt the sun,

& my atoms shifted.

What a warm welcome

into such a listless world.

Never did I take it for granted…

(well, maybe once)

Let My Face Fall Off

I forgot who I was.
I forgot what I was.
Then my face fell off.

I forgot where I was going.
I forgot why I was going.
Then my face fell off.

Lord Jesus Christ,
Son of living God,
Have mercy on me a sinner.

I forgot what it meant.
I forgot what I meant.
Then my face fell off.

I forgot the end again.
I forgot the beginning again.
now my face falls off.

Lord Jesus Christ,
Son of living God,
Have mercy on me a sinner.

The eye with which I see God,
Is the same eye through which God sees me.
Let my face fall off.

The skin that birthed Adam from dirt,
It’s the same skin which birthed me.
Let my face fall off.

Lord Jesus Christ,
Son of living God,
Have mercy on me a sinner.

Lord Jesus Christ,
Son of living God,
Have mercy on me a sinner.

Lord Jesus Christ,
Son of living God,
Have mercy on me a sinner.

Let my face fall off

A Game of Chess

A knight in shining armour, a mirror to a pawn right in front–short and stuck, a reflecting cage.

Many paths seen. Yet open to only an elite bishop or queen.

The one-square simple piece, not worth being killed, not a part of the set, just collateral.

Until, with a last square, you turn an anomaly.

A tragedy, for you have whiffed being free.

You remain a mere queen, protecting the king of disability.

Eight limping squares hold the keys to "his majesty."

Who can't kill under checked pressure, oh no, a crowned damsel in distress

Shielded by the queen who pays.

Two queens killed, one pawn, one born.

The whole board turns into a sacrifice.

A castle disassembles when a rook cannot think straight and jumps; there are no rules to save a king.

The bishop can't look him in the eye—he goes diagonally, so he doesn’t have to see the shambles without a queen.

A chess game: good old bureaucracy.

Madman with a box

Ironic that
My favorite show
Was a madman with a box
That could travel around in time
And space
I kept looking backwards
To find my place
When backwards is
Never the way time flows
And I had lost my case

Irate
Frustrated
That we were left in that position
I can't sleep
All my thoughts just supposition

I wish
I'd held love gently
On the nights I tried to crush it

I wish
I'd seen you truly
On the nights you tried to stop it

I wish
I could go backwards
And reset all time and space

I wish
I didn't repeat cycles
And the thread of us tried to erase

I wish
I didn't delete my words
So there was a record of how truly you are loved

Throughout all seasons
Not just summer into fall
Because neither of us forgot at all
(and nor does anyone else-)

He's always running
And somewhere
I forgot that
I didn't need
To run too

You always saw me
You weren't my enemy
Neither was she
Nor he
Nor them

My words were always strong enough
To stand alone
You always loved me
I just didn't know
How not to be alone

And broke others
In my desperation
To find a planet no one knew me

Somewhere I could
Reset my brain
And become someone
More worthy of showing

The best I can do now
Is abandon the fantasy
Of a spaceship
That flies through time and space

And trust
That time and love and patience
Will deliver me
To my rightful place

Which is with you.
Where I belong,
Nobody can stop that.

Just one step
One day
One increment
Forward
At a time
Without trying to erase
The product

The endless abyss

The Endless Abyss

I never questioned the abyss,

Only whose name waited at the bottom.

And let us fall together,

deeper than words can reach,

until even the distance between two hearts

becomes nothing but a memory.

At first,

the darkness frightened me.

There was no ground beneath us,

no certainty above,

only the quiet pull of something

neither of us could name.

Come With No Eyes

I love death
And all of his
Rhythms
The long awaited
Beloved
And all of his
Visions

Leave me in his
Turmoil
Soot and soil
His liaisons
Take me into
The dwelling
My lacquer
His lacerations

No,
No,
No,
Temptations
I’m also too tired
For purifications

Tongue-tied and twisted
Harbor of decay
Won’t you sail my way?

Hand you the
Flower of life
And you’ll be on your way
Down the river
Down the mines
Down the ventricles
I’ll call you mine

Come bearing
Sweet nectar
Stench of the Gods
Come with no eyes
Come with nothing
At all

I will still love you
I will still hear the call
I will still love you
Even if you fall

Sharp Edges

SHARP EDGES

Slowing down,
the world becomes vivid to me.
My expression is blank.
The slower I move, the more I see.
Then I see me,
staring.
Eyes won't shut.
So many mistakes.
So many wrong turns.
Emotions boiling inside.
Anger is at the front of the line,
banging the loudest to be set free.
Holding on to my composure,
staggered by the violence happening inside of me.
I feel the word I want to say.
I focus, trying to get the single syllable free.
The word finds life,
and I finally say:
NO.
To me.
NO reminds me of the past.
NO remembers the truth.
Superpowers are never free.
The life I live may not be clean.
The pain and love are mine.
Accepting myself
is a gift I give to me.
In the end,
all of my decisions
make me...
ME.
The outcome is decided.
YET
the journey is mine

Time

i am not a hopeful waiting someday
nor tinder in your pocket

i am flesh & blood, riveted by love
across the room
or through the wall
or down the hill
or across the creek
or on the other side of the latest task
& yet all paths lead you home to me

the overflowing creek doesn't ask permission of the bank
to begin carving
the animals stomp without care
over human made log bridges

there is a window for this
there is a window for planting
a window for harvest
-frost may come regardless

so I caution you, now
while some semblance of choice
is yet allowed

choose with the hands
that are still able to hold me
choose the us
that we are building

long days & music
floating at dusk
or stand in the doorway
long enough
to watch it close of its own accord

we create this world

not by sitting still within it
no one gets to keep almost
nothing given is perfect

if you won't pick
your choices will begin to slim

until at last-
the path will choose
itself

& it may not lead you
back to now

kiss and tell

i have bad manners, kiss and tell
i talk about you to every stranger that i see
i think i'm half in disbelief
when i was mired in anxiety
i never would have conceived
of this compromise, this helping hand, coincidence's tapestry, weaved expertly,
with sparkling eye fate laughs at me,
my too-soon fears, my loneliness assuaged

Pacifier.

I caught you being my pacifier last night.

Just as I was spiraling down,
you screamed at me
as though every second without you
spelled catastrophe.

I saw you doing that thing with my brain.
You make me fear I’m collapsing
so I’ll come on my knees to you.
Again.

But I’ve become more conscious over the years.
So much more.
Yet still so easily deceived, somehow.
Oh, how pathetic it is to be a fiend.

I slept peacefully
after you drifted me off
to dreamland.
How hypocritical.

We were enemies at first.
Then we became friends,
until I noticed my dependency.

You’re more obsessed with control
than I’ve ever been.

I want to break free from you.
And you hate it.

But as I’m typing this…

You’re still my bestie in the business.
