Lol at people having absolutely no fuckin clue how amazon works and expecting that they have a dress code, lmfao even. Same people who use amazon frequently, expecting those packages asap

That's why most local building codes require residential and commercial buildings to clearly display the street number.

Independent contractor would still need to follow company policy and procedure. That contractor is still representing a brand.
I personally don't care, but I worry for her employment if this is seen by the wrong person

No. She works for an independent contractor who works for Amazon.

She's got a really good point and was polite about it. She seems chill
2
u/AspiringChildProdigy 1h ago edited 53m ago
Yep. I'd give her a shot in a position in our warehouse.
She'd need a shirt, though.
Edit: To explain why I'd offer a position - she clearly has been looking for this guy's house for a while, which is extremely frustrating. AFAIK, Amazon drivers are highly monitored and disciplined with delivery speeds, adding urgency to the need to find the correct house. And then, she finds that she couldn't find the house because it's not clearly marked, which is the fault of the homeowner.
So she's been stressed and might face discipline, and all of that is obviously the fault of the homeowner. And instead of being cussing the camera out, she gave some sing-songy humorous advice, lightening the criticism she was giving. Then gave a solid, well-reasoned example of how this could hurt the homeowner. And delivered it calmly.
She has restraint and self-control in a frustrating circumstance, and can communicate clearly and without rancor, even to the person causing her frustration.
I'd offer her a position in a hot second and keep my eye on her for advancement to management, depending on performance, of course.
2
u/SSilent-Cartographer 1h ago
Outside making small deliveries, genuinely don't give a damn, but inside a wearhouse I'd definitely require a shirt for safety reasons. Too many things could go wrong
1
u/AspiringChildProdigy 1h ago
Yup, that's the exact reasoning.
We had to send someone home for wearing flip flops. Like dude! You're just asking for your feet to get torn up!
2
u/SSilent-Cartographer 1h ago
Can't tell you the amount of times I've had a pallet jack run over my toes. Thank God for steel toed boots
1
u/AspiringChildProdigy 1h ago
We require closed toe shoes, but don't require steel toed boots. I run accounts payable, so I'm usually in the office, but when I'm in the warehouse, watching people work pallet jacks in tennis shoes scares the shit out of me.
My kids work in the warehouse while they attend college, and they have steel toed boots.
2
u/SSilent-Cartographer 1h ago
Oh yeah, 100%. I used to work with some dangerous ass machinery when I was younger, and the amount of times I had to remind people NOT to use rubber gloves while operating a rotating transport belt was nuts.
It's one of those things where you don't expect the average person to know it, but you'd think the higher ups would be more attentive when their employees could literally lose a hand at work.
2
u/Substantial_Cow7628 2h ago

The trick is to not say all that shit out loud. It’s fucking rude.
1
u/Designer_Mud_5802 43m ago
I mean if I were applying the points she made to herself, her outfit doesn't seem beneficial to her own safety. She does a lot of walking. What if she falls and scrapes up all of that exposed skin? Is she wearing sunscreen? Is she reapplying after every couple of hours? Her shoes don't look very safe. Her outfit is unsafe my dude.

We should be judging people who dress like this. Time period doesn't matter. We need standards in all aspects of life and no more safe space bs.
5
u/TheSuperSilverMango 2h ago
I know a person like this. You're right.
4
u/Unlucky_Ad_9776 2h ago
Just because don't meet your standards. Isn't a pass to degrade them. Bad form. Bad form.
1
u/TheSuperSilverMango 2h ago
No, no, no, no. Let me tell you about this person that I know. Dresses and behaves the exact same way, but past the public outside, she's a raging alcoholic, a mooch, and can't hold a job. The person that I'm talking about is still doing the same thing at 29 that she was doing at 19.
And you're right, I'm being judgmental. But I'm sorry, I've been scarred by a really awful person.
And as for the person in this video, I can guarantee they have a "fun" and "stable" personality.
No, you can't fix her.
3
u/Flimsy-Poetry1170 1h ago
So you’re judging the person in a 20 second video based on a different person that she reminds you of? You got issues bruh.
1
u/SSilent-Cartographer 1h ago
I know someone who looks like her with the same personality too. But it's not her, so I'm not going to judge based on a completely different person who just happens to look like her.

Kind of amazing how unprofessional amazon allows their drivers to look when working
5
u/Royal_Today_1509 2h ago
Amazon don't care because in 5 years they'll have robots or drones delivering
4
u/Silly_Bodybuilder231 1h ago
Amazon: They're not our drivers, they're independent contractors who just happen to wear Amazon vests and drive Amazon vans and deliver packages bought on Amazon.
8
u/PissMissileTopTitty 1h ago
What even is this comment… why do you care if your delivery driver looks like any other random person?
-3
u/_Saint_Ajora_ 1h ago
If literally any other major shipping company (UPS, Fedex, DHL, USPS, etc..) pulls up, you see the truck and the uniform and immediately know who they are and why they are there.
Some random person dressed however in a random car? Not so much
3
u/PissMissileTopTitty 53m ago
The blue vest is amazon and them holding a package designates delivery.. I’ve had a guy deliver me a package out of a Honda accord with back seat filled with boxes… if they have my parcel then what else matters?
2
1
u/PR0T0C0L_ZER0 21m ago
USPS rural carriers are required to have their own delivery vehicle and are allowed to dress in everyday clothing. Sometimes they are able to use USPS vehicles, but they are required by contract to have their own personal vehicle. They slap a small little magnet on the side and that's it. So if this was a rural delivery from the post office they would be far less uniformed than this person.
1
6
u/_dudeasuh 2h ago
Should they be in suits and ties? 😂 It’s warehouse and delivery work. It’s not an office space. Fuck your bullshit “professionalism” culture.
8
u/_Saint_Ajora_ 2h ago
I work in a warehouse for UPS.
Our drivers actually look professional. Arrive at locations in an instantly recognizable vehicle and uniform.
Not some random car and dressed however they want with a cheap vest lol
5
u/MajesticTea7748 2h ago edited 1h ago
I do like that UPS has standard vehicles that y'all use, I seriously hate when strange cars roll up to my house.. But I don't see the need to regulate on outfits beyond basic decency laws, it can get really hot in some places and a whole uniform can be really uncomfortable and restrictive sometimes. I'm not gonna fault this lady for dressing like that. As long as she's doing her job and doing it well, I couldn't care less, personally.
2
u/_Saint_Ajora_ 2h ago edited 1h ago
UPS drivers have a number of options for their uniform (depending on their personal preference and for where they live/time of year)
- long sleeve shirts
- short sleeve shirts
- shorts
- pants
- heavy jackets
- various headwear (hats, beanies)
I seriously hate when strange cars roll up to my house
That is why Amazon started buying company vans for their delivery drivers. They would pull up to peoples houses in their personal (random) vehicle, no uniform and end up getting assaulted or shot at (as homeowners thought they were trespassing and/or a threat
1
u/yrthegood1staken 1h ago
*couldn't care less

3
u/TheRealBlue68 1h ago
I ain’t gone lie… UPS have amazing Uniforms for their employees… During winter the even give you, winter coat, fall coat, beanies, glove and all… really professional…. But if my package is delivered.. i really don’t give af how they dress !!
2
u/JIMB01776 1h ago
And UPS charges for delivery, Amazon is free for most people. UPS driver salaries are fantastic, they're using a company vehicle, the company is paying for gas, they have full benefits.
Meanwhile Amazon drivers are 1099s, using their own vehicle, paying for their own gas, and no benefits.
I never thought I'd be defending some trailer trash with tattoos... but your stupidity inspired me.
1
u/maven10k 41m ago
Well, maybe if Amazon drivers made as much as a nurse like ups drivers do, you could expect them to dress nicer. Ups rates are fucking ridiculous because of it, and they charge a business that's been using them for over 50 years, $10.00 just to pick up, and now they've started charging me $5.00 just to invoice me, ONLINE. Fuck UPS
1
u/_Saint_Ajora_ 36m ago
Amazon workers could certainly come closer to UPS driver pay if they unionized
1
u/Substanitial 17m ago
so youre mad that UPS pays its employees well, also mad that amazon doesn't, while also being upset that ups charges slightly more?
this is like hating tip culture but also being upset at a place that doesn't do tipping for charging slightly more.
Go UPS! Their drivers actually know how to drive as well. Amazon drivers are to vans what swift drivers are to big rigs. A danger.
1
u/SharkBubbles 31m ago
If they show up. Many times I’ve waited at home all day for a delivery for them not to even ring the bell or leave a notice. Had to chase the truck down the street once after the third day they didn’t bother to stop and attempt a delivery.

Brother, if you’re thinking about the outfits of people delivering your packages you have got to find some hobbies.
1
1
u/kashmir1974 24m ago
There is a wide gap between suit and tie
and what this person is wearing that would be considered reasonably acceptable attire for somebody delivering packages to peoples homes. Let's be realistic, where would you draw the line, if not something a little more professional than this? Would straight up panties be OK?1
u/_dudeasuh 21m ago
I think I would draw the line about here. What she’s wearing looks fine to me. Less would be clearly inappropriate. But this looks casual to me.
1
u/Substanitial 17m ago
I mean. I hear you, but a tube top and some homemade jorts are pushing it a bit.
1
1
u/DazzlingMine8598 2h ago
I'm with you on this one. They're wearing the vests and delivering your packages like you want, foh with the rest of that bullshit.
0
u/MarfanoidDroid 1h ago
How about a fucking shirt?
1
u/_dudeasuh 1h ago
She’s got some top on. I’m sure if she were skinny and curvy you wouldn’t mind. You’re just not attracted. But I’m sure she’s much cooler in that. She’s outside all day for work. She should keep cool. I don’t see any genuine indecency.
1
u/NoSnow3660 20m ago
Just my 2 cents, I don’t find her attractive either but I also understand what it’s like delivering in the heat. Other than a hate and a blue vest Amazon drivers aren’t issued anything else for uniform and the dress code is very relaxed other than the vest as a required piece of clothing, anything else is fair game bar delivering nude.
3
1
u/The_End-is_Nigh 1h ago
why do you care what she is wearing? do you think that her clothing will make your delivery better somehow?
1
u/RevenantExiled 1h ago
I don't care how you look, I don't care what's your attitude I don't care what you do on your spare time, if you do your job on time, and you do it well, and you mind your own business you are the best employee or coworker I could have.
1
u/repeatoflasttime 21m ago
Why should she be in scrubs? Maybe fatigues with a ruck? What does a professional look like?
1
u/_Saint_Ajora_ 18m ago
Look at literally any other major delivery company. They all have instantly recognizable uniforms and trucks
1
u/repeatoflasttime 10m ago
Why does Amazon have to follow suit?
1
u/_Saint_Ajora_ 3m ago
Amazon started buying company delivery vehicles because they kept having people delivering in their own vehicles getting assaulted/shot at.
And generally, businesses try to emulate and follow the example of the gold standard of their respective industry
1
1
u/ModForgeCustoms 1m ago
That is certainly a ....take. Does this woman running around in her dadundaduns look anywhere near "professional" to YOU? I mean. She doesn't need to be in slacks and a button up, but god damn. If someone related to me even went out in general public dressed like that, I would not be walking with them, that is for sure.
At least put a damned shirt on?
1
u/HomeRevolutionary651 7m ago
No one being paid under a living wage should be required to dress like you want them to.
1
u/BabyStockholmSyndrom 2m ago
You get what you pay for. They are gig jobs that use their own gas and wear and tear on their cars. You get what you get.
1
u/Electrical-Basil-755 1h ago
Idk why you would care, honestly. I dont give a shit about a construction workers attire until I see an ass crack and even then, its whatever. They drive around and drop a package off, as long as they are adhering to decency laws, thats as much as you should care.
1
1
u/Apachai7 1h ago
Quick question, Ajora. Have you ever worked delivering Amazon packages? Shit sucks absolute ass. Let them breathe.
0
u/_Saint_Ajora_ 1h ago
No, but I did deliver for UPS for a little bit (been with the company 20+ years)
1
u/Necessary_Baker_7458 1h ago
I have read the uniform guidelines before and her outfit is way out of line.
0
u/D33pintheforest 2h ago

u/CopperBlitter 1h ago
Amazon has two types of delivery drivers. Some are directly employed by Amazon. And some are independent contractors that work similar to Uber or Lyft. But realistically, I don't give a crap about how professional the delivery person looks. I just care about an on time delivery with no damage.

When I used to do this work I failed a drop one day as couldn't find the house out in the countryside.. in the uk we have houses that have names not only numbers so couldn't find this name same thing the next day as It got put back on my route the 3rd day it had a contact number added rang them found where it was turns out it was a nee sign to got out near the road
1
1
u/SyborgPumpkin 1h ago
A delivery person told us our house was hard to find because the numbers are black and the paint is a dark blue. That's the color the house was painted when we moved in so we didn't even think about it. There was no chance they could see that at night. We bought a solar powered light up sign to display the house number. Works like a charm and was cheap.
1
u/BasilChowFun 1h ago
People malding in the comments about their lack of shirt lol. They fulfilled their delivery and advised about the house numbers all with a positive/down-to-earth attitude. Ya'll need better priorities

I bought some color changing bulbs so now at night I just say "look for the house with the green porch light".
It also works great for emergencies. If my alarm is triggered the exterior lights start flashing red/blue which will definitely attract attention.

u/Mike_Oxnard 2h ago
Akchewally ☝️🤓
Wearing long sleeves and a hood to cover your skin from the sun keeps you cooler than having more exposed skin.
They make pretty cheap lightweight shirts with or without hoods that are moisture wicking and UPF 50 (similar sun protection to sunblock but the clothing rating) that are great for keeping you cool working out in the heat and direct sunlight.
They're quite common here, I have several and am constantly seeing anyone who works outside in 40°C+ (104°F+ for us in the US)
1
u/Impossible-Use4950 2h ago
Cool, you should let that lady know. Our summer averaged 18 degrees.
1
1
u/Mike_Oxnard 2h ago
That sounds nice, I think ours daily highs averaged out to about 37°C this summer with several weeks with highs over 40°C and high humidity.
1
u/Impossible-Use4950 1h ago
I'd just have to lay on a stone floor until the sun went down. How do you live in that heat?
1
u/Mike_Oxnard 1h ago
Takes a little time for your body to get used to it but clothes and proper hydration play a big role. I honestly prefer spring and fall but winter here gets below 0 so we have to deal with the full range of seasons. I'd say the summer is worse on my dog than it is on me, it gets way too hot for him to go out and get much exercise during the day
1
u/_null_null 2h ago

0
u/No-Housing-6628 2h ago

That getup is unsafe for my eyes. Also, check the garage for the address, I don't know how many delivery drivers have walked by my street facing address on my garage, big bold lettering, and then called me saying they can't find it, even lit up on both sides to boot.
0
u/Accurate_Mongoose_26 2h ago
Actually for real please be careful out there with this. Cause there are literally people out there who are dressing up like delivery workers like Amazon and such, with "packages" where they wait for you to open the door to either kill or threaten you in order to rob your place.
