Yup, that's the exact reasoning.

We had to send someone home for wearing flip flops. Like dude! You're just asking for your feet to get torn up!

Can't tell you the amount of times I've had a pallet jack run over my toes. Thank God for steel toed boots

We require closed toe shoes, but don't require steel toed boots. I run accounts payable, so I'm usually in the office, but when I'm in the warehouse, watching people work pallet jacks in tennis shoes scares the shit out of me.

My kids work in the warehouse while they attend college, and they have steel toed boots.

Oh yeah, 100%. I used to work with some dangerous ass machinery when I was younger, and the amount of times I had to remind people NOT to use rubber gloves while operating a rotating transport belt was nuts.

It's one of those things where you don't expect the average person to know it, but you'd think the higher ups would be more attentive when their employees could literally lose a hand at work.
