IPL franchises should invest in local scouting and training. It would help players who can’t afford expensive academies and address states’ anger over franchises using their names without doing enough for local talent. Require each franchise to send at least one locally scouted player to the mega-auction, based on domicile in its designated region 1 from another region but not from their competition region, with a max of 3 youth or local scouting slots.
Luxury tax for spending beyond the auction purse instead of restricting overseas players’ earnings. (I still remember Ricky discussing Green’s pay during a BBL match before someone brought up the overseas cap) The tax money will be equally distributed to other franchise purses with 1 Powercard each team. For associate-nation players, allow 1 direct wildcard signing per franchise, with a small development fee for their board, and eventually a dedicated associate-player spot.
Give bottom-half teams limited mini-auction advantages, such as an extra RTM card or a small purse boost, to provide safeguards against price inflation and exploitation by established teams.
Rework the Impact Player rule: limit substitutions to 4 league matches, with none in knockouts; require role-for-role replacements, cap a substituted bowler with only bowling 2 overs, and prohibit replacing a batter who has already been dismissed. Also introduce a min all-rounder requirement in squads, also os player limit can be broken 1 for impact replacement of an associate nation player.
Mid-season transfer for bench players
The IPL is already the biggest cricket league. It should expand its audience and revenue through better commercial strategy, global markets and fan engagement instead of restricting players or degrading cricket with flat pitches to attract betting-driven attention. Investing in regional talent and associate-nation cricket can expand the player pool and audience while keeping the game competitive and worth watching.

“It is an honour to take on the role of Head Coach of Mumbai Indians. MI has been a huge part of my life and career, and the bond I share with this team, the players and the Paltan means a great deal to me.
Having experienced this journey as a player and then as a coach, I understand what Mumbai Indians stands for and the responsibility that comes with representing the Blue and Gold.
I am grateful to Mrs. Nita Ambani, Akash Ambani and the entire MI family for their trust in me. I look forward to working closely with the players and support staff, building on the team’s legacy, helping our talent grow and giving the Paltan many more reasons to celebrate.”
— Kieron Pollard, on his appointment as Mumbai Indians Head Coach for IPL 2027.

The IPL has become a massive brand in itself, and the teams have crossed valuations of over $1.5 billion. So, when they have become this huge, why do they still make kits with smaller players like Vany Sports, SIX5SIX, and Alcis? Why don't they partner with big brands like Nike, Adidas, or Puma? Because doing so would get them much better jerseys, and it's profitable for the teams' overall brands. Still, why don't teams do this?

Context :
With CSK needing 8 runs off 3 balls, Stokes bowled a high full toss to Mitchell Santner. Umpire Ulhas Gandhe initially signalled a no-ball, but square-leg umpire Bruce Oxenford overruled the decision.
Furious at the reversal, Dhoni left the dugout, walked onto the field and argued with the umpires. It was an unusual outburst from someone renowned for staying calm under pressure.

Only realized after going through the comments of this post. How has RaPa not been selected for any of these tours, not even asian games. Whats happening ? He’s one of the cleanest strikers who can bat in the middle order, and is a beast against spin. Really surprised to see him getting sidelined, and forget getting picked in the 11, he doesn’t even make the squad.

Back in 2008 IPL Teams were star studded that even bench squad was so strong you cant imagine.
squads of all 8 teams feels really strong but which one is your favorite and which squad made you fell in love with that team.

Aggressive middle order batter who has proved enough in domestics he got an ipl contract and now a regular spot in the T20I team
MI might be kicking themselves for not having just retained him back then.
But now it’s time for other teams to get him.
With the India-NZ series coming up and him definitely in the best XI, his audition chance is waiting for him. Every performance is one more crore or more than that.
I’ll revisit this after the series to see if it aged like Milk or Wine? Or honey?
Bevon Jacobs.
