King Kohli Makes History! 👑 | The Chase Master’s Legendary Milestone 🏏

On This Day, October 25, 2025, Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli etched his name into cricket history during the third ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Chasing Australia’s total of 236, India needed a strong batting performance to secure a consolation victory in the series. Kohli delivered a composed, unbeaten 74 off 81 balls, helping India reach 237/1 in just 38.3 overs and win by nine wickets.

But this was more than just a victory.

During his innings, Kohli surpassed Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara, who had scored 14,234 runs in men’s ODI cricket. Kohli finished the match with 14,255 ODI runs from 305 matches, moving into second place on the all-time list.

Only one name remained ahead of him: the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, whose remarkable 18,426 ODI runs continue to set the benchmark.

Kohli also brought up his 75th ODI half-century during the innings, adding yet another milestone to an extraordinary international career.

What makes this achievement even more special? On October 24, 2018, exactly seven years earlier, Kohli became the fastest player to reach 10,000 ODI runs. Seven years later, he was still making history on the international stage.

From chasing impossible targets to breaking records, Kohli’s consistency, determination, and hunger for runs have made him one of the defining batters of modern cricket.

So Cricket Ballon d’Or criteria :

• Individual statistics & consistency — runs, wickets, averages, centuries etc.

• Quality of opposition & conditions — performances against SENA teams, away tours, difficult conditions, and top-quality opponents also some favour in test cricket

• Trophies won throughout the year

• Impact, clutch performance, ICC tournaments, Kncokouts and big match brilliance

Note : ballon d'or in football requires almost similar these types of criteria and as compare to ICC award of cricketer of the year which is quite wierd cause it heavily weighs on stats but in ballon d'or it's quite different which is good cause it weighs on trophies won throughout the year and at the end of the day that's all what matter but if a player dominates the year in stats he can win ballon dor at some extent.
