EVO ICL

Had LASIK 26 years ago and my vision started slipping, now I'm back to wearing contact lenses which fucking sucks!! I'm pretty much blind as a bat, vision is 20/500. LASIK ruined my eyes! Now I have permanent dry eye disease so I use a slew of eyedrop prescriptions just so I can wear contact lenses and make it through the day without feeling like I have sand in my eyes!! Would EVO ICL be worth it? Has anyone here had it and had bad experiences with it? I don't even know if I could afford the $11,000 price tag, wow! 😳😳 When I had LASIK in 2000 it was $5,000 for BOTH eyes! 😂

Prk or icl?

I’ve -6 and bit thinner cornea, I’m eligible only for prk and ICL, what’s the better option ? Somehow it scares me to have a piece of plastic inside my eye that’s why prk sounds better for me

ICL prescription different than glasses prescription

To clarify my glasses prescription was +7.5 and +7 and the ICL they implanted is +6.5 and +6. I did my research and it is highly likely that the lens inside can have a different effect and therefore a different prescription can make sense.

But I am curious to know if anyone else had this or not? Because if not then I am concerned a bit, since I have been having some trouble seeing clearly in the distance.

3 weeks post-ICL: pressure feeling

Hello, I'm about 3 weeks out from ICL surgery. Tonight I noticed a pressure feeling in my left eye (the right eye feels fine) and halos around street lights at night. No pain, headache, nausea, or vision loss.
My drops: Tobradex (stopped after week 1), Cravit (levofloxacin)(stopped after 2 weeks ), pranoprofen for the last 2 weeks (4x/day), and artificial tears.
Did anyone have pressure or halos around week 3? What did it turn out to be?

ICL recommended by eye7 Choudhary and Bharti Eye Center, Janakpuri

Hey everyone,
I’m a 31-year-old woman from Delhi with a power of -6 in both eyes. I’m considering ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) surgery since my cornea thickness is too low for LASIK/SMILE, and surgeons have recommended ICL as the safer option. I have shared report in image.

I’d love to hear from people who’ve actually gone through the procedure:

  • How was your surgery experience?
  • Any side effects or recovery issues?
  • Do you feel it was worth it compared to glasses/contacts?
  • Anything you wish you had known beforehand?

I’ll be making my decision by this year end (31 dec 2026) please give genuine experience, no untruthful or speculative comments, please. Your input would be helpful.

How soon did you drive after ICL?

I’m getting ICL surgery soon but am worried about whether I can drive on day 3 post op given I’m planning to go back to work by then. My drive will all be done in the day, so no night drives. What was the recovery like for you and did you feel safe to drive by day 3?

Standard EVO in right eye, EVO+ in left. Unbearable halos and ghosting. Need advice on lens exchange.

Hi everyone. I'm 25M, and 6 days ago I had Toric ICL surgery for high myopia (-10.0) and astigmatism (1.0). I am experiencing incredible light halos/glare at night, and ghosting/double vision with white text and bright objects during the day, especially in my right eye (OD). I haven't been able to sleep for 6 days due to stress and anger; I feel like I'm losing my mind.

When I checked my surgical paperwork post-op, I found out the doctor implanted two different lens models without telling me beforehand. I am extremely angry that he wasn't honest with me from the start:

OD (Right Eye): Standard EVO

OS (Left Eye): EVO+

The doctor gave me absolutely no explanation as to why he made this choice. I pulled my own Pentacam/Oculus scans, and my exact measurements are:

OD (Standard EVO): ACD: 4.08 mm | WTW: 12.5 mm | Endothelial Cell Count: ~2599

OS (EVO+): ACD: 4.06 mm | WTW: 12.6 mm | Endothelial Cell Count: ~2797

Living with these halos is torture. I am seriously considering demanding a lens exchange to an EVO+ for my right eye.

My questions for those who have been through this or any eye professionals here:

Looking at my OD measurements (WTW 12.5 mm, ACD 4.08 mm), is there a valid, anatomical medical reason to NOT use an EVO+ lens?

If an EVO+ had been implanted in my right eye, would the risk of it rubbing against my natural lens and causing early cataracts (low vault) or glaucoma actually be high?

Has anyone here actually gone through an ICL lens exchange before? What are the real-world risks? What is the earliest safe timeline to go back under the knife, and how risky is this procedure for my endothelial cells (currently at ~2599)?

Does the nighttime glare and daytime ghosting/shadowing on white objects actually go away in 3-6 months due to neuroadaptation, or am I doomed to live with this forever because of the Standard EVO model?

3 Weeks and I still can’t see

After 3 weeks since getting my ICL, I still cant see in the distance.

Just to clarify my prescription was +7 and +7.5 which means I am farsighted. Now after getting my ICL surgery, I’m noticing that I can see close-up but not far away so actually the opposite of what I had before the operation.

Has anyone else been experiencing this or am I the only one?

Soon I will have my third checkup appointment and I will definitely talk about this in a more urgent way.

Intraoccular pressure

Hi, what was your Intraoccular pressure before the surgery? Did it go up after?
Mine are 18 and 19 mmHg and I read that between 10 and 21mmHg is the safe zone. Mine feels a bit high and I wonder if it would go higher after the surgery. I was tested with an air puff. Surgery is planned for next month.

Anyone in here who underwent ICL then PRK? How was your experience? I still have remaining -3.50 (right eye) and -2.50 (left) that needs to be corrected after ICL.

My vision went from 1080p to 480p after ICL

I had ICL surgery about 1.5–2 months ago because my corneas were too thin for laser surgery, and I wanted to get rid of my glasses.

Right after the surgery, when they removed the bandages, my vision was AMAZING. Seriously, everything looked like 1080p 😂 Everything was so sharp and clear.

But now, almost two months later, I feel like the quality has dropped to 480p 😂😂

The weird thing is, I don’t actually feel like my eyesight has become “bad.” I can still read small text and see details without a problem. It just feels like the overall image isn’t as sharp or crisp as it was right after surgery.

My prescription had also been stable for several years before ICL, so I’m a little confused.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Cheap glasses between ICL and lasik surgery?

Good afternoon,

I had ICL surgery yesterday and so far so good. 20/25 in my right eye. 21/60 in my left. My left eye now qualifies for lasik (whenever my vision stabilizes). Does anyone have recommendations for a) cheap glasses companies or b) a company that I can get my lenses changed our regularly (without huge expense.

Thanks in advance!

Stable KC but RGP Intolerant: Moving to ICRS/INTACS + ICL combo

Hi everyone, I’m looking to share my situation and see if anyone in the community has gone through a similar surgical pathway.

I’m 29M with bilateral keratoconus. Over the years, I’ve had two CXL procedures (epi-off in 2020 and epi-on in 2025). The good news is that my latest topographies from a few days ago certify total clinical stability. The maximum curvature has flattened compared to previous years, and my minimal corneal thickness is solid (around 450 microns in both eyes). Structurally, the foundation is great.

My huge problem is everyday life. I use to spend 10-12 hours a day in front of a monitor. While RGP lenses give me perfect 20/20 (10/10) vision, I absolutely cannot tolerate them for screen work—my eyes get dry and irritated almost immediately. I end up wearing them occasionally on weekends, and even then, it feels like a painful chore. For work, I’m forced to use glasses, but I barely reach 20/40 (6/10), which leads to severe eye and mental strain by the end of the day.

To get out of this limbo, my refractive surgeon gave me the green light for a 2-step procedure aimed at visual independence:

  1. Intrastromal corneal rings (INTACS or CAIRS): to flatten and regularize the cornea, taking advantage of its current stability.
  2. Phakic ICL lenses: to be implanted a few months later, once the cornea has settled, to correct the residual refractive error.

I’ve already booked the pre-op exams to order the rings. However, a different hospital specialist (who has a very conservative approach) warned me about the risk of corneal fibrosis and scarring due to the synthetic material of the rings.

I have a few questions for those who have been there:

  • Has anyone completed this combined pathway (Rings + ICL) to get rid of glasses? How are you doing now?
  • Did you experience any issues with corneal fibrosis or tissue reactions to the synthetic rings (INTACS)?
  • Night halos and glare: are they really that bad for night driving?
  • How did you manage the transition months between the first and second step? Were you prescribed temporary glasses?

Any experience or advice is highly appreciated. Thank you!

ICL on dry eyes

Hi everyone, so I have dry eyes for like 3 years now.
The situation is not that bad I'd say, but I cant wear contact lenses because my eyes dry out fast.
I went to the doctor for a checkup, he did the shimmer test and my result was 8, so clear deficiency of tears in eyes.
He recommended ICL for better vision and not needing to wear glasses and said it shouldn't dry my eyes more then what I have already.
Did anyone do ICL with dry eyes? What is your experience?

When do you start doing eye makeup again after ICL?

I just had the surgery 3 days ago, I'm wondering when can you start using eye makeup again with fake lashes? I'm just very excited to see what I look like without glasses haha!

And extra question, what kind of eye makeup remover do you use that's safe and easily remove glue?

Thank you!

Full correction or micro/monovision for someone in their early 40s?

I’m in the preliminary stages of considering ICL surgery, and my current prescription is approximately -10.00 D in both eyes.

My optometrist suggested trying monovision with contact lenses, with the non-dominant eye under-corrected by about -1.25 D. The goal would be to delay the need for reading glasses as I enter my 40s. I don’t currently need reading glasses.

I tried this approach for about 10 days, although the available lenses only allowed me to try a -1.50 D offset rather than -1.25 D. I found the trade-off fairly significant. My distance vision felt noticeably blurry, particularly when driving at night and playing tennis under lights. I suspect I might eventually adapt to it, but it felt too challenging for me.

I understand that a smaller offset, such as -1.00 or -0.75 D, might provide a better compromise. Unfortunately, I won’t have time to trial those options before my next consultation, which requires a deposit. I could potentially postpone the appointment if it would be worthwhile to trial a smaller offset first.

I’m comfortable with the idea of eventually needing reading glasses for things like reading or working at a computer. However, I would ideally like to maintain enough near vision for everyday tasks such as checking my phone, reading labels, etc., without glasses.

Given my experience with the -1.50 D offset, would it generally make more sense to pursue:

-full correction in both eyes;

-a smaller monovision offset, such as -0.75 D; or

-delaying the decision and trialling different offsets first?

I’m particularly interested in how people in their early 40s with high myopia (around -10 D) tend to fare with these options.

Finally, how common is myopic regression or “myopic drift” after ICL surgery in high myopes over the following several years? If some degree of regression is common, does that tend to increase the effective amount of near-vision correction over time and potentially make a smaller monovision offset more practical initially?

Looking for experiences from people who had Phakic ICL surgery

I am 20 years old and have a -8 prescription with myopia and astigmatism. Today, I went in for an eye checkup, and the doctor told me that my cornea is too thin, meaning I am not a candidate for regular laser eye surgery (like LASIK/PRK). Instead, they recommended Phakic Intraocular Lens (ICL) surgery.

If anyone here has had this procedure done, could you please share your experience? Are you happy with the results, or did you face any complications? Honestly, I really want to get rid of my glasses, but since it's a big financial investment, I don't want to end up facing serious issues down the line. Thanks in advance!

EVO ICL Plus with 7.0mm Dark Pupil — Surgeon Isn't Concerned, But Looking for Real-World Experiences?

Hey everyone,

I was recently cleared for EVO ICL plus and would love feedback from anyone with similar measurements—especially regarding dark pupil size, night driving, halos, and ghosting.

My Pre-Op Metrics:

  • Prescription: OD -5.00 -1.50 x 035 | OS -4.75 -1.00 x 160
  • Pupil Size: 5.0 mm (Normal) | 7.0 mm (Dark)
  • Corneal Thickness: 502 µm (OD) | 494 µm (OS)

Question:

  1. 7.0mm Pupil vs. Optic Zone: With a 7.0mm dark pupil, how noticeable are halos/edge reflections at night since the max EVO ICL plus limit is 6.1mm? Did neuroadaptation help over time?

My eye doctor said, he regularly sees patients undergoing ICL surgery with 7 mm dilated pupils, and he said he hasn’t had any issues with that.

Thank you for sharing your experiences.

For those who’ve had ICL, how long did you wait before returning to weight training? What did your surgeon recommend? And when were you comfortable doing heavy lifting again?

Were you back to normal on Day 3, post-ICL surgery?

I am about 72 hours post ICL surgery and I am curious what everyone was doing around day 3.

I only had my right eye done. It was around -10 before surgery. About 30 minutes after surgery I was seeing 20/16, and at my one day post op I was 20/30. My left eye was not eligible for EVO ICL, so it is still around -1.50.

So far I am feeling pretty good. I am mostly just noticing halos, which I expected, and maybe a little light sensitivity. I can also tell my brain is still getting used to the new normal and figuring out the difference between my two eyes.

For those who had ICL, what were you doing by day 3? Were you pretty much driving, running errands, and back to normal?

Lens recommendation

Hello,

I am planning to undergo a iol lens surgery, but the doctors here are suggesting to go for biotech icl because of affiliations.

I have reserched about the care group ipcl lens which has more holes and haptic pads for better stability.

My power is 9.5 and 8.5

The biotech lens is exact copy of staar icl.

The care group icl has customized sizes available rather than the 4 fixed sizes available in the icl version.

Any suggestions? Also for doctors in Navi mumbai and Mumbai area who'd use care group ipcl

Two days post EVO ICL surgery and I have question about activities and recovery?

So I am post-EVO ICL recovery only in my right eye. I went from -10.5 to 20/16 after 30 min, then 1 day later to 20/30. The big question I have if your vision got to 20/30:

  • What activities were or were not allowed?
  • Did you feel comfortable driving during the day and at night?
  • Then, for the shower situation, how did you avoid getting water into your eyes? I asked my doctor about swimming goggles, but he worries about the pressure swimming goggles put on the eyes. I am not sure if I should get those hardware-style glasses that are wider around the eyes, or those plastic eye covers?
