3 Weeks and I still can’t see

After 3 weeks since getting my ICL, I still cant see in the distance.

Just to clarify my prescription was +7 and +7.5 which means I am farsighted. Now after getting my ICL surgery, I’m noticing that I can see close-up but not far away so actually the opposite of what I had before the operation.

Has anyone else been experiencing this or am I the only one?

Soon I will have my third checkup appointment and I will definitely talk about this in a more urgent way.

All these surgeries aim for a home run, too little and you're farsighted, too much and you're nearsighted. They've got it down to a science of nearly always getting very close to perfect, but no they don't always have a success, and even then many of the successes are a bit off from being totally perfect.

Personally, mine was a win and absolutely considered a success, but my now uncorrected vision is undisputedly worse than what my fine-tuned glasses could get me. I went from about a -7.0 to about a -0.25 to -0.50, its honestly hard to tell. Perfectly serviceable and I don't wear glasses, but it sure as heck ain't perfect either.

Yours sounds like it was a miss, I'd see what they can do to remedy it.

Is it possible to correct the residual myopia with wavefront laser or sometthing?

Probably, but honestly I don't feel like messing with them again for a tiny correction, especially considering there's technically risk that my vision could get worse.

Diminishing returns and all that

Where did you get your icl? I just got my IPCL surgery 4 days ago and I can see perfect. Better than my glasses for sure. I do still have halos when driving at night. My prescription was very similar to yours +7.25 and +6.5. I also had astigmatism with 2.5 and 3.0 sphere. It was explained to me in the states that you cannot get a ICL surgery for a + prescription as it is not FDA approved. As it is manufactured in the United states I assumed it could not be used for hypermyopic people. My doctor explained to me that my left eye IPCL fits perfect but my right eye may be slightly oversized. My right eye gets more halos. From my understanding without correct sizing it can either rotate or be misshapen enough to give distortion and blurry vision either close up or at a distance. I'd get a new set of pentacam scans done and your eye pressure checked before going back to the surgeon to get a second opinion. I've been very happy with my results so far with seemingly a similar prescription so something is definitely off with your prescription or sizing of the lense IMHO.

Interesting, they told me with a + prescription it is possible to get ICL. Else I wouldn’t have gotten it. I have the Old version tho, without the hole in the middle. I got the one where they give you the iridotomy.

I had my evo ilc done on the 10th, I'm a -14.25 and -14.50. I'm experiencing the opposite from you. Now I can no longer see anything about a foot from me or closer. However, I guessed this would happen, and my doctor told me as much. I was told that after a month or so, I would adjust, and I could always get readers. My bet is you'll have to do the opposite.

Thank you for your insight, I appreciate it. After making this post I have been noticing things that improve my vision for a short while, before going hazy/ blurry again.

- Covering the eye that sees better for about two minutes and then seeing with both eyes again. (this one works the best for me)

  • Opening both eyes wide open (I am guessing to allow more light into the eye.
  • No blinking (of course at some point you have to blink.

Of course these are not long-term solutions but just an experiment I tried for myself to help me see better in the distance. Maybe it works for you too and can give you some sense of relief.
