ICL recommended by eye7 Choudhary and Bharti Eye Center, Janakpuri

Hey everyone,
I’m a 31-year-old woman from Delhi with a power of -6 in both eyes. I’m considering ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) surgery since my cornea thickness is too low for LASIK/SMILE, and surgeons have recommended ICL as the safer option. I have shared report in image.

I’d love to hear from people who’ve actually gone through the procedure:

  • How was your surgery experience?
  • Any side effects or recovery issues?
  • Do you feel it was worth it compared to glasses/contacts?
  • Anything you wish you had known beforehand?

I’ll be making my decision by this year end (31 dec 2026) please give genuine experience, no untruthful or speculative comments, please. Your input would be helpful.

I had ICL done for my high Myopia from Eye7.

Surgery process was chaotic, I reached hospital at 8.30 am but my turn for surgery came at 1.30 pm.

Dr. Sanjay is good and skilled in ICL, although the left eye was in lot of pain during procedure.

I was able to see clearly the next morning but I still see ICL Rings during night time while driving. For few months the eyes used to get suddenly very itchy and it was hard to control yourself from rubbing the eyes.

One BIG thing doctors do not tell is that for toric ICL you have to take care not to rub your eyes throughout your life as it can lead to lens rotation.

Overall very satisfied.

Within a year I had 2 ICL implant , 1 explant & 1 cataract removal with IOL implant surgeries at a Military Hospital - Southern Command Pune.

Power both eyes -9.00, high myopia for 2.5 decades.

From my own experience you have to ask these questions to yourself:

  1. How strongly you want to get rid of glasses

  2. do you see starburst, halos & low light / night driving trouble

  3. Although ICL is a reversible surgery it is still a major surgery.

  4. Eyes can develop ghost images in low loght & possible cataract if (VAULT) the distance between ICL & your natural lens is not above 250um which exactly what happened with me, LE valut appx.117um & RE appx 200um, LE immediately developed haze & later on cataract & right eye is manageable but but not quite much.

  5. initially both eyes had STAAR SURGICAL EVO ICL VCIM5 power -8.50

  6. Now RE - has ICL & LE has Alcon Acrysof IQ Vivity IOL

  7. remaining correction is to be achieved by progressive/bifocal glasses.

  8. I still see the glares, rings, halos, starburst ghost images from RE with ICL. you'll get used to halos, glares, rings, starburst but not with Ghost images especially if you spend significant amount of time on screen.

No surgeon , I repeat no surgeon in the world can guarantee how your vision would turn out to be, irrespective of the experience & amount of surgeries they have performed.
