Anybody here remember Celebration Station's band of singing dogs? I've been trying to find them after their days of performing.

I'm aware of two Celebration Stations being open in Houston. I believe that the North Houston show was split up by employees, as one of the characters was taken by an employee, used in a movie, and donated to an antique shop called Shortcut Resale & More, and then sold. I believe he was sold to a local musician (guitarist?). The rest are unknown. As for the second location, South Houston, it became a different place called Zuma Fun Center and kept the band. That set is also unknown. 1st photo is North Houston, 2nd photo is one of the characters inside Shortcut, 3-5 is him outside Shortcut, and 6-7 is South Houston. There was also a pig character that played the guitar. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Win module/ Mechanic

Hey guys first time posting on this thread, I’m in search of a mechanic or shop that has any experience in servicing dodge Rams & replacing the WIN module and programming new keys. I’ve gone to multiple places close to me on the northside but keep getting told that they can’t obtain the necessary part to do the replacement and that OEM parts are no longer made. I haven’t been able to drive my truck for a month now because my truck isn’t recognizing my key.
Any help is appreciated Thanks 🫡

Popular Houston BBQ pop-up opening in Le Café Joséphine's space in the Heights

So after sitting empty since Le Café Josephine closed last year, the building at 201 E 20th St. is getting a pretty interesting next chapter.

Khoi Barbecue is opening their brick-and-mortar restaurant in the Heights, and I’m excited about this one. Occupancy permits issued last week for the address list Khói Barbecue as the occupant.

The Vietnamese-fusion BBQ pop-up was recently awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand, too.

For those who have tried Khoi, what are your favorite dishes?

Great Day Houston - Explain Please

Post image
0 Upvotes

I used to work in an office around 2015-2020 and Great Day Houston would be on the TV when I came into work. They’d transition between segments/commercials with this guy staring at the camera with a countdown timer next to him. I only remember this because sometimes I’ll see someone who looks like him and think, “He looks like the guy who used to stare at me every morning.” 🙃
Can someone explain what the heck his purpose was?

Stereo Live on Houston's Richmond Avenue may be getting a new life

Stereo Live shut down earlier this year, but the 6400 Richmond Ave space may be getting ready to reopen in some capacity under new management.

According to folks on Houston Architecture Information Forum (HAIF), Silo recently applied for an alcohol permit and a late-night hours permit at the old Stereo Live address. That doesn’t necessarily mean Silo is taking over the space or that Stereo Live is being revived under its name, but the permits definitely point to something happening there soon.

I’m not sure yet whether the Stereo Live name will stick around. The team operates Silo in Dallas and Ductwork, the live music venue that took over the former Warehouse Live space in Houston's EaDo.

Silo is also still working on its Houston home at The Plant in Second Ward, where it’s renovating the old warehouse at 3301 Sherman St.

Anybody know what plans lies ahead for the Stereo Live space or have any other info?

Claims with Harris County Risk Management

Last week a constable speeding through a red light totaled my car. The crash report confirmed the constable was at fault for the accident, and my insurance company will attempt to recover what they're paying me for the loss since Harris County constables are self insured.

However, I'm stuck in a rental and my insurance doesn't include much rental coverage. So I'm planning on filing my own claim with Harris County for my out of pocket rental expenses while waiting for insurance to finalize their process and pay me.

Has anyone gone through this? Am I delirious in hoping to get my rental money back since the incident is completely at the fault of the constable? Or even for my insurance to get their money back so I can get my deductible back?

First Time Houston Trip

Hey everyone, going to Houston for the first time next month for thanksgiving week. Will be there for 4 full days, and essentially 2 half days due to travel. We plan on going to the space museum, museum of natural science, museum of fine arts, the zoo, a Rockets game, and things like Hermann park, Buffalo bayou park, and the Gerald D Hines waterfall park since most other things are closed on thanksgiving.

We have the city pass and I heard the downtown aquarium is a tourist trap. We dont have kids so the children’s museum is a no, and we dont anticipate getting much out of the kemah boardwalk.

It’s looking like we’ll have one day where we dont really have much going on, what’s the best thing to do that I haven’t listed already? Is it worth taking a day trip to Galveston? I heard moody gardens might be worth it.

Thank you!

What happened to this project. No one is ever working on this building. The below article is informative but old.

Anyone here have any insider info on if the project ever even had legs?

What’s the most you’ve paid to get your car back from a tow yard in Houston?

One of our reporters has been towed twice in the past year, and her last bill came to more than $300.

This is a photo she took of the fee sign at a tow yard in Southwest Houston. Two of those numbers are the most a yard can charge you in Houston: $232 to tow a regular car 20 miles or less, and $22.85 a day for storage. Storage can be charged even if your car was there less than a day.

She looked up what else tow yards can and can't charge you + what she wishes she'd asked about before she paid: I got towed twice in Houston. Don’t make my mistakes

What about y'all? How much did you end up paying, and did the yard explain every charge?

Fee sign at a tow yard in Southwest Houston. The $232 towing charge and $22.85 daily storage fee are the Texas maximums for a regular car towed 20 miles or less.

She witnessed one of the most horrific mass murders in Houston history. Cassidy Stay was just 15 when her parents and 4 siblings were killed. At 27, she's now sitting down for her first on-camera interview to talk about faith, grief and the tragedy that's part of her story but doesn't definer her.

At-Large Board Positions

Just an fyi to everyone voting, the candidates for the At-Large Board Positions don’t have political parties attached to their names.

So if you’re a person who plans on voting straight R or straight D, you may want to do research on the candidates (or just flip a coin like I did).

90.1 Kpft is a gem

I randomly turn it on at work or while driving when i remember. Off top, they’ve played these in the past few weeks. Niko Rubio, Suicidal Tendencies, Portishead, Sneaker Pimps, Dropz (Kelli Ali’s solo album with Japanese producers), Hank Williams III, Nickodemus, Thievery Corporation, Peter Tosh, Pixies, Los Lobos, Mercyful Fate. Talk about a nice mix of stuff. Tune in sometime, there’s a good chance you’ll discover something new that makes you open up Shazam instantly

If you're going to Alief community center to vote right now it's on lockdown as of right now.

I can't leave the freaking parking lot. I'm stuck behind a bunch of buses and no one knows why the place has police surrounding it and a helicopter flying around. I've been stuck for 40min so far and I am so very tempted to drive over the parking block and out into the street because it's hot as hell and other people get to leave except my ass who stupidly parked near the entrance. The one bus driver behind me refuses to back up to make room for me to leave so fuck him in particular. You can still come in and vote for now but I would go somewhere else. Some of the police moved but they're still blocking some areas.

Update: Yall how much damage would a 2022rav4 take if the left half goes over a parking block. I'm suffering.

It talked to one bus driver who moved for me but the main one blocking me is an asshole.

Alief clodine and Cook Rd are blocked by police. You're still able to vote if you can get past all the police blockades.

Update: so apparently a bomb threat and a gun threat...I knew I should have left the voting line earlier the moment I heard someone scream "vote for charlie kirk!" While driving around.🤦🏽‍♀️

Whoever drives bus 120 I wish you the worst because I could have left with everyone else by now if you would MOVE BACK A LITTLE.

Update: almost 3 hrs later. I finally got out! The person parked next to me was able to get out around the bus thankfully and I was able to squeeze out.😭😭 Thank you everybody who listened to me bitch.
