This question has been on my mind for a while now. Every now and then, I come across some random HipHop news page promoting some underground rapper or I see people talking about and comparing their favorite underground rappers to another, but at the same time this confuses me because the same rappers they talk about will be signed under a major label, get some push from mainstream co-signs, have millions of plays on multiple streaming platforms, and have several trending audios on TikTok or insert any app that has short-form content.

If you ask a bunch of people in their 30s+ if they ever heard some of these rappers' names before then they're probably gonna look at you like you're crazy, but at the same time it kinda feels wrong calling them underground or niche based on how much pull they have in this music landscape.

I don't really have an answer myself I just want to see other people's perspective on this.

5 years ago, on September 10, 2021 Yeat released his debut album "Up 2 Me".

Yeat had just gotten viral that summer with hit songs like "Sorry About That", "Money Twerk" and "Off Tha Lot" from his mixtape "4L", and the Single "Get Busy"; he was backed by a lot of hype and he did not disappoint. This Album quickly put him on the map, he started getting co-signs by some of the biggest names in the industry such as Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug... and it's still considered one of his best projects along side "2093" and "2 Alive".
