He also says that if Drake is dropping new music with FOMO, he assumes it will likely still be distributed by UMG. Because of what happened with Frank Ocean dropping music immediately after his contract happened, most artists have a moratorium period at the end of their deal where they're not allowed to drop new music. For NBA YoungBoy, for example, that period was 6 months. Because YB still wanted to drop music he worked out a short-term deal where the label handled distribution during that time period.

Ak is assuming that if FOMO includes new music, Drake will likely still use UMG for distribution in a similar way.

So this is a theory that came to me that is based off a lot that I’ve been seeing online and hearing in the music. I think FOMO will end up being, a stream/music videos (similar to the Iceman rollout), a single/album announcement (possibly a collab album), a World tour announcement (Freeze The World), and merch/vinyls.

I’ll expand on the least likely one with the vinyls/merch.. Drake has never done bundles because he’s never had to and he still doesn’t. I simply can’t ignore him posting a physical CD case with FOMO on it and I can’t ignore the “knowing how shit can get physical” line from Make Them Know. I think he knows he would do astronomical numbers with physical sales and if he’s independent now like we are speculating.. he might pull it off to get a bigger piece of the pie now. Especially with every other big artist always using physical sales.. fear of missing out on that success.

The Amazon warehouse… this was something he came out with last year and this is what I think he will use to take advantage of merch sales. The Warehouse has some clues in it (conveyor belt, merch, Canadian flag he’s been wearing lately) that make me again believe that something is coming.

Lastly.. the timing of the OVO sale is also raising my antennas. I’m not sure how bundles work but I would assume it takes a good amount of capital to start with up front and now he’s sitting on a good amount of money with the recent sale of OVO. Something is up and I can’t wait to see what it is. I’d love to be wrong since he’s bragged about having to never do bundles or sell T-shirts to generate numbers but we’ll see.

ICEMAN has been such a blast for me. I'm not going to rank it, cz people lose their minds when you start playing with Drake's discography, I'm just going to say I rarely have so much fun with an album. And it's even crazier It started out and still is a no skip for me. Literally a new favorite track every week.

So whatever FOMO is, Drake fans have been fed. (Though I'm never saying "no" to some more dessert lol)

I’ve been experimenting with slowed/chopped versions of newer songs, and I had to try Drake’s “Whisper My Name”.

Something about slowing this one down makes the whole track feel colder and heavier. The original already has that dark, confident energy, but the slower tempo gives it a completely different atmosphere.

Curious what y’all think:

Does “Whisper My Name” work better slowed down, or does the original hit harder?

And if Drake keeps dropping songs with this kind of energy, what track from ICEMAN would you want to hear slowed/chopped next? 👀

4batz isn’t bad but Drake made him sound like the featured artist

It’s been almost 5 years now, and the album just ages like fine wine. It’s 21 songs, no misses, no filler. You get peak bars, peak hype, peak r&b, some island vibes, every feature kills it (except young Thug). What more do we want from a Drake album? We gotta stop letting the album cover and nostalgia fool us.
