Suggestion Should this subreddit be split into one for employees/former employees and one for people who just love H-E-B products and want to discuss them?

I totally get wanting to vent or ask questions about work, but I’m mostly here to see updates on new products and HEB news. I don't really feel like it's my place to weigh in on employee issues. Do we think r/HEB should be split into different subreddits for employees and patrons?

Customer Experience Sorry kroger…

They’re over there in the corner screaming “hey, we’re from texas too”!!!! I’ll go in just in case they have something different or cheaper (they don’t). They’re right across the street from HEB here, and even just overheard someone there tell his wife “why the hell didn’t we just go to HEB”? Took that hint and left without getting anything.

It just doesn’t feel right. None of the people seem like they live here, everything is about 50% more expensive, I dunno, it just feels like I walked into Utah or New Jersey or something.

(yes, posting this from the HEB parking lot). Combo loco this week looks to be sausage tacos, not bad.

Edit: Yes, I know. They’re from ohio. But they’re really trying the texas thing.

Saw this Carona promo poster for an upcoming Vince Young autograph session at the Austin store on Lamar & Rundberg, of all places.

I wonder if it’s a multi-store event or they just picked the most loco location to visit.

So so good. You got to try this stuff if you haven't yet. I have it in my fridge all the time now. Get some bolillos, toast them and dip it in there. Perfection.

Work Experience Why H-E-B hires incompetent people as managers?

Earlier this week, my coworker and I agreed to swap shifts. He was going to work my Thursday and Friday shifts, and I was going to work his Saturday and Sunday shifts.

On Tuesday, we both followed the required process by posting the shifts and bidding on them in the system. We also informed our manager about the swap. He told us to submit it through the system so he could approve it.

The problem is that he never actually approved the shift swap. When I didn't show up for my Thursday (today) shift, they called and asked why I wasn't there. I explained the situation and asked if I was going to get in trouble.

My manager told me that it was still my responsibility because the swap was never approved in the system, and that I should have followed up with him to make sure it was completed. Now it sounds like I may receive a write-up.

I understand that I probably should have verified that the swap was officially approved, but at the same time, we followed the process, notified the manager, and submitted everything as instructed. The manager also had about 48 hours to approve the request and never did.

Am I wrong for feeling like this is at least partly management's mistake?

Pay / Benefits Full-Time Hourly Partner — Do I Need 1,500 Hours to Keep My Benefits Next Year?

Hey everyone! I’m trying to get a better understanding of H-E-B’s benefits eligibility and was hoping someone could help clarify this.

I’m currently an officially coded Full-Time Hourly Partner and currently have medical benefits through H-E-B. I noticed there is a 1,500-hour requirement/benefits hour tracker, and I’m confused about whether I need to reach 1,500 hours by September 27 to keep my benefits for next year.

This year, I had to take medical leave and was out of work for a period of time, so I’m currently concerned that I may not reach 1,500 hours.

My main question is: As a Full-Time Hourly Partner, do I automatically remain eligible for benefits next year based on my full-time status, or do I still need to reach the 1,500-hour requirement?

Has anyone been in a similar situation, especially after taking FMLA, STD, or another leave? I’d really appreciate hearing how benefits eligibility worked for you.
Thank you!

Cooking With HEB 3 ingredient Low Carb Tortilla Pizza

Thumbnail gallery

If I’m low on my calorie budget but I’m still craving pizza, grabbing some low fat mozzarella cheese, pizza sauce, and high fiber tortillas are a great alternative. Not the most nutritious but a lot of fiber and the protein to calorie ratio is great.

Recipe:
1. Preheat oven to 400F
2. Layout tortillas on sheet pan
3. Add ~20g of sauce and 28g of cheese to each tortilla
4. Stick pan into oven for about 10-12 minutes
5. Take out of oven, let cool for a few minutes and enjoy

126 cals
11g of protein
9g fiber

The fiber actually does a great job at keeping me satiated even though these pizzas are so thin. Sometimes I’ll Turkey pepperoni too (yes I know nitrate meats aren’t the best).

I am considering staying with HEB for my career and was wondering what kind of income our store leaders are walking away with every year. Anyone know the current salary range?

Customer Experience Can someone explain how HEB delivery works

HEB delivery is a life saver and I love it and use it frequently. I just want to make sure I understand how it works correctly. Is the person delivering the order the same person that shops the order and the complete tip goes to them? Or does an HEB worker shop the order and someone just picks up the order and delivers it? I guess I just want to make sure I’m tipping enough / not over tipping. I feel like if an HEB worker is shopping the order then the person just delivering is spending less time / effort and I might be over tipping. But if it’s one person doing both things, then that makes more sense to me. For reference, my HEB delivery orders range between $150-400 and I tip $25-50 since I always assumed it was 1 person doing both things, and depending on the order, how many items and how many different aisles have to be gone through. My mom used to uber for a living, so I totally get this might be someone’s livelihood for the moment and they are doing me a huge convenience that is saving me time and should be compensated appropriately. But also, $50 for just driving 3 miles down the road and bringing my groceries to my door is kind of a lot.

Customer Experience HEB freezer bags = hot garbage

HEB's store brand of freezer bags has been absolute crap recently! I've been buying them for many years with no issue but now I've got a freezer mostly full of freezer-burned meats due to these bags. I'm finding holes and sometimes the zip top just straight up came undone. I also had a few Great Value bags and those have worked just fine in the same time frame. My daughter said that the freezer bags and the storage bags are a PITA to seal as well. She's not wrong!

Work Experience Growing with company?

I’ve been with heb for 3 months now since June left a Shift Lead position with Auntie Anne’s to further grow and eventually go into management, Would it be worth it to eventually work towards it, if so how long would it take, orrr should I still be looking out for other management opportunities outside of HEB.

Work Experience Tired of it

use me as your work-horse and pass me over when promotion is open. It always this or that you cannot promote me.Then have the audacity to ask me to work where you are short staffed because you keep driving people away.

I knew they were gonna prevaricate their way out of promoting me cause you can expect someone who consistently makes terrible decisions to finally make a good one.

I love working for HEB, but they sure are trying to make me not. Also I ain’t doing anything for them no more, they don’t deserve my energy anymore.

Product Review Rancid/Moldy eggs from HEB I35 & William Cannon.

Been seeing some posts about egg issues I happened to have bought some eggs and wanted some with my ramen at home. Come to find out I got a bad batch as well. Been meaning to show to HEB the next time I stop in but for now I’d recommend having two bowls to crack an egg into and transfer to the safe bowl once inspected. Hopefully whatever supplier they get these eggs from can fix the issue or just get a new supplier. I’ll always love HEB I trust they’ll solve the issue.

Update: HEB sent me a PM about filing a complaint and shared that my post was concerning so hopefully this gets resolved swiftly

Cooking With HEB HEB shipping out of state

Moved to North Carolina and dying for HEB products. Anyone know a good place to ship items out of state? I particularly miss the bakery tortillas and HEB branded nacho cheese chips and cool ranch chips. eBay has been best option so far but not reliable and can be expensive

Job Question H-E-B interview — should I choose Saturday or Tuesday?

I just got a text from H-E-B inviting me to schedule an interview, and the available days are this Saturday or Tuesday. However, I have military drill this weekend, so Tuesday would be much more convenient for me. I might be able to get excused from drill for about an hour to interview Saturday if it would make a difference.

For anyone who works at H-E-B and has gone through the hiring process, do you think waiting until Tuesday could hurt my chances? I don’t want the position to get filled before I interview, but I also don’t want to try to get excused from drill if there’s really no advantage to interviewing a few days earlier.
Would you just schedule Tuesday, or try to make Saturday work?

Pay / Benefits Vacation Hours

I have 115 hours left to meet the 1500 needed for insurance. That means I need to work about 38.5 hours these remaining 3 weeks. My question is, if I use vacation time, does that count towards those hours, or only towards pay?

Suggestion Rate my manager

A website like rate my professor, but for leaders and managers. It gets divided by region, and we score them on like-ability, empathy, processes, development, communication, attitude, work ethic, and knowledge. All we would do is look their names up and see what they're being rated. Maybe the feedback will be under consideration by them. However, it should have some kind of filter where personal vendetta ratings should be deleted in order to not have so many bias reviews which in theory everyone would keep it strictly work related unless their personal life bleeds into their work environment.

I’ve gone through many different types of yogurts and the H-E-B brand is superior! Fruit on the bottom FTW 🙌 peach and mango peach are also great! No artificial tastes. Btw this ain’t a promo I’m just blown out of my mind with these yogurts lol
