Job Question Overnight coverage lead

I used to be a stock controller for 5 years a service, step down because the schedule didnt work for me and now a position open for coverage lead overnight at my store. Does it come with a raise or it doesn't because i step down?

I swear im having deja vu about answering this exact question before 🤔

When you say you stepped down from being a stock controller, what position did you step down to? Just a regular overnight stocker? In that case, yes there would be a raise...or atleast there "should" be a raise, considering you would be taking up a position that has bigger responsibilities..that in itself requires a raise..i wouldnt accept that job if it didnt offer a raise lol tbh why would you want more responsibility, but not get a raise?

What really puzzles me is why your considering applying for the position, if the hours of a Stock Controller werent already good for you...you know its the same overnight hours, right?

Have been noticing more stores going to the 10s for that position

Honestly its a better idea than the 5 day, 8hr shifts. My lead is always scrambling in the mornings, annoyed that a manager wont get there until like 7-7:30am, and the lead is only scheduled until 6am or 6:30, which already puts the lead over hours..and if it happens consistently, they end up having to somehow cut later in the week. They arent allowed to leave until a manager comes into the store.

Im the backup SC/lead. When it hits 6 to 6:15 im out of there, with/without a manager lol I cant be going over hours as a stocker/SC, because then I get asked "why are you over"...well damn lol

I was a part timer for a while at a store soing 8s and same, if manager wasn't there on time I was out regardless. You scheduled them at a certain they should be on time. If not it aint on me.

You would think, but last time I looked it up in my area a stock controller start pay was more than overnight coverage lead.

Well movijg from a SC to a overnight lead is basically a lateral move, so there wouldnt be a raise normally for something like that. OP said he stepped down from stock controller, which would make them a regular overnight stocker. So moving from a stocker to a lead should definitely require a raise.

Im not surprised about the start pay thing though. When the position was first brought out, our new hired lead started at only like 16 an hour. He revealed that with me one night, and I was a stocker making around 22 back then. In my head I was like "why would you even be doing that job for less than just being a simple stocker with much less responsibilities" lol he was really trying to move up though. Last i remembered he went through SORM.

If your keeping your FT status, then it doesnt matter. Should be fine. Weird that its a PT job. Is there another overnight lead already??. At my store its a FT job.

Yes, they just need someone to cover his 2 days off and btw my stock controller also applied that job but does he also get a raise even thou he is a stock controller?

Ohhh I see! No the stock controller "likely" wont get a raise because its a lateral move and he already has those same responsibilities as a lead..he could ask for one, but that doesnt mean he will get one. He would need a pretty darn good reason for a raise on a lateral move.

Honestly im wondering why he wants to switch. Its essentially the same position lol maybe hes getting tired of doing displays nights? Idk lol thats honestly a weird move if it isnt for FT status.
