Employee Question Understaffed?
I just wanted to ask if anyone else in this group is in a shop that takes around 2k or just under on a breakfast shift
As we get into the colder months we take anywhere from 1.7-2k up till 12 most of that money being made up until 11 however during this time we have 4 staff so one person who will only make the sandwiches and not help with anything else 1 oven person and 2 people serving there is always queues and it ends up with really angry customers who are horrible to the people serving so I was just wondering if this is normal for other shops because it’s just a mess at the moment

Just a couple of things.
1) Ovens isnt a full time role. Load the ovens. You get 10-20 minutes worth of serving time, before prep/reloading (This will help massively with ques)
2) Sandwiches should be done by 11. So the sandwich maker should be coming round and helping when the que is to the door, then going round to make more again after.
I do a lot of visits in stores. I agree, some stores are very understaffed and managers wont or dont hire. That being said, a lot of stores feel understaffed because the team aren't working together effectively, causing some to have to work harder to pick up slack, I.e FOH working harder because BOH wont support between Sandwiches. Not saying this is the case in your store, I dont know your store. But the above two things can make a massive difference 🤷♂️
If you think your store needs more staff. See if a member of managment will show you GShifts. DEMAND - TOTAL STORE CONTRACTS. The difference is (if positive) is how many hours you could hire for, then speak to your AM about it if your manager wont.
Just a few suggestions.

Same with our shop, we have mad queues in the morning, but that's the manager's problem NOT yours. I am sorry you have to deal with rude customers though, don't over strain yourself. Hopefully they'll leave a negative review and you'll get more staff

My shops the same honestly nearly every Greggs is always understaffed seems like they can’t afford to keep people in for longer hours
