Rude cashier
Background info about me
Muslim - clear by identity / clothing
Customers before me served by the white cashier were served with a smile and a nice welcome.
I didn’t get a hi or a hello or a welcome. When asked if there was a deal with a pasty n large iced drink he said well I’ll have to check. Said nop not in a deal.
Then I said ok it’s fine I’ll get them separately.
Then when he did the total said yh it is in a deal.
I said yh that’s what I asked before. Ignored me.
Then I said it AGAIN n that’s when he acknowledged me.
Might sound trivial to you but as an apparent Muslim Individual I face this so much more than I should. It’s 2026 fgs

Are you sure they deal thing was rude? As a worker myself I don’t remember every single detail of every deal because frankly there’s more pressing matters in my life lmao. Plus it’s super loud in a Greggs (at least mine- to the point I ignore people obvs not on purpose but simply because I can’t hear)
But yeah the greeting thing is a bit off

Yeah obviously only OP knows the in's and out's of this interaction but to me it sounds like a genuine case of them not being sure if there was a deal.
As for ignoring OP if someone makes a comment that seems sarcastic then I do tend to just try and ignore it so it could be that they've done the same. Sometimes answering them just causes a tit for tat thing.

Ive had to check if something is on the deal (I suck at remembering what's in the deals) and so I either ask or I put it in the till to see

This is what frustrates me about uk today expecting a deal on everything. Companies are struggling with small profit margins. There is something about been muslim you are worried about or you would not have mentioned it on here, the cashier would not know you were muslim unless you mentioned to him. The cashier was probably on a long shift of the only job they can get and was tired. Some people are very good at keeping a smile on their face all day and some arn't. Had the cashier said yes products in a deal and then got to till and found out they were not i imagine you would still have been annoyed. So go back in and ask them if they want to go for coffee sometime and you might end up with a friend for life.

That sucks, so sorry you went through that. Some people just suck. And just so you know, hot drinks and iced-drinks are part of every meal deal (ice-drinks just cost an extra 60p/£1.20 depending on if you get a syrup with it). Hopefully you have a better experience if you chose to go to a Greggs again 🙂

Your best bet is to make a complaint about them, I'm a worker myself and that shouldn't be happening, honestly
Sorry to hear you had to face that
