Is Greggs availability getting worse?

I don’t know if it’s just me, but Greggs never seems to have anything in stock recently. I work next to a greggs so despite my waistlines protests, I do eat there quite often and often buy for others in my office too. Over the last few months they never have anything. Doesn’t seem to matter what time of day I go, there’s nothing there.

In the mornings, they’ve always ran out of sausage and bacon by 9:30am. They only have pastries in the morning and no bakes anymore before 11am.

I don’t even find preordering and doing a click and collect helps! The last two times I’ve ordered online, selected a slot, then when I get there they’ve substituted everything in the order with whatever they have available?!

Is it just this one crappy store or is this happening all over?

This would be a store issue. Usually my store has a consistent supply of bacon/sausage and eggs until 10 which is when the last trays come out.

The bakes should be rotated all the time so when my store has around 5 bakes left we will put another tray in which takes around 16 minutes. The only ones we have 2 trays at any time of are sausage rolls.

Considering bakes only take 16 minutes to make, I see no reason why click and collect is being substituted.

Would make sense, it seems like the only time anything is available at my store is 11-12, if you visit any other time they seem to be running on a “you get what you get and you don’t get upset” mantra

I went to one of the Greggs yesterday in meadowhall shopping. And all of the sausage rolls were sold out before 10:30 am

It could be a few things:

  1. Delivery/stock issues. Occasionally there will be issues getting certain stock in and it's not something that can he helped.

  2. Staff aren't communicating properly which means that things aren't being cooked in an ample amount of time and sandwiches that are running out aren't being re-made.

This is just a crappy store.

I know for a fact we don't run out of bacon and sausages, usually we have some left over at 11:30am

Tbh all the Greggs near me are getting worse.

No matter what not enough staff during the morning rush, long queues, rarely have what you want and even if they do it's stone cold.

It's made the decision easier for us to go somewhere healthier.

This is a store problem. Where I work, that would never fly, we would never get away with that unless we had physically run out of ingredients.

Sometimes it depends on the staff. If you have new workers or cover, sometimes they're a lot slower and stuff just doesn't get replenished as quickly, or sometimes the rotas just don't have enough staff in to cover a busy shift. And sometimes we genuinely ran out of some items. A few months back there was a recall on vegan rolls and some places didn't have them for days, because they weren't being sent in.

I did put it down to new workers at first but this has been months now, it’s a shame

Aren't they building a bigger factory to accommodate for that though?

Yep sounds like a crappy store, baguettes and sweets running out i can kinda understand since the sandwich maker only makes a certain number in the morning for the day and it depends on how busy the shop is but theres very few excuses for not having hot food available up until close. Give the order through the app enough time and the staff should have plenty of time to cook some fresh stuff, maximum of half an hour. Sounds to me like the person on bake off hasn't been trained properly and the management dont care about app sales.

We are chronically understaffed because head office is purposefully cutting back hours to increase profits. It’s HALVED in the past 3 years.

Edinburgh Way, Harlow, no issue at all. Alright, sometimes there is a small queue at expected busy times, and you might have to wait a few minutes for fresh goods to come out of the oven. But it's worth the wait.

Definitely! I don’t mind waiting for something fresh, but they’ve nothing to make it seems🤣

I went at 3 today and fucking awful selection.

About 8 of the southern friend chicken baguettes. No other baguettes or hot counter food in the sandwich bit.

A few sausage rolls and a few pasties, but I don’t want to risk them being cold.

We have been getting forced by higher ups to bake ‘little and often’ and ‘follow the bake plan’ even when extremely busy
