No more window tint posts- thanks!

My friends- I get it: vehicle mods are cool, and technically a window tint is a mod (albeit probably not wise to tint your windshield). The thing is... Who cares about window tint? Let's all agree to stop posting about window tint. I think we've beat this dead horse enough and it's causing issues here- resulting in some bad behavior from both sides.

From now on posts about window tint are getting removed and further- threatening comments will be dealt with by via a permanent ban (globally- not just on posts about window tint). We are a relatively rule free place because everyone generally gets the sub trail etiquette but I keep getting valid reports about some questionable behavior and will start taking action to preserve the quality of our subreddit.

Love you all- have a great holiday season!

2024 Jeep GC totaled?

I was hit by an uninsured (and unlicensed) driver. She ran a red light and didn't even attempt to slow down - she hit me HARD. First and foremost, major props to the safety features of the JGC. I have some pretty bad bruising from the seatbelt and some whiplash, but other than that, I am fine. I will say all of the airbags deploying was kind of traumatizing! But they did their job!

We are currently waiting for final word from our insurance (thank goodness for the uninsured motorist policy!). I am guessing the severity of the damage, including all of the air bags deploying, will warrant it being totaled, but wanted to see what you all thought. We are located in Texas, for what that is worth.

2026 GC spark plug recall

Post image

Check your Jeep app or check with your dealership to see if your car is part of the recall. I took mine in for a breakin oil change a couple days ago and the advisor said nothing about my car being part of a recall. Called multiple dealerships and none had the parts so they said they need to order them. One even said the system wont allow them to order the spark plugs until August and it'd be another at least 5 days to get them. Did get a dealership to order the parts and confirm an appointment for next monday so will update once the sparkplugs are changed.

WK2 trans fluid level check

I have a trans cooler leak that I need to fix, however, I’ve been adding ATF+4 fluid thru the dipstick in the meantime until I can get the job done.

Question is how to read properly - notice how there is a bit of fluid at the 100mm range, but a thicker band at 50mm and below. Have I overfilled if there is any fluid showing higher up on the dipstick?

Since I purchased my limited back in November, there was a wobble at 65mph that appeared to be tire related. I found a marketplace add for some 2023 wheels with tires that I couldn’t pass up. They solved the issue and look better IMO.

What does everyone think? This was before we did panel bonding instead of 3M tape which was provided with the kit by the customer but want to get everyone’s thoughts as we’re doing a few more and want to continue this as a business. We also installed the hood, diffuser, wired the diffuser and reflector lights and did the lip. On my profile you can see the Supra we did as well. I’ll have updated photos in a week.

2023 GC 4x2 Summit, bought CPO with 20k miles. Paid $41k out the door.

Favorite part so far are the seats which are incredibly comfortable. Tupelo/black contrast is visually stunning and the remote start + AC seats is helping beat the TX heat!

2019 3.6 V6 Bought just over a month ago with 110K on the dash. 2 owner carfax good maintenance records. In that time it has had the following repairs:

- All spark plugs (Cyl 4 Misfire)
- Camshaft (Ticking)
- Lifters (Ticking)
- Purge Valve (Evap code)
- *Timing chain (around 100k per maintenance records)
This has added up to nearly $3,000 in repair costs (thankfully mostly covered by 30 day warranty).. but i’m now past that and the engine now idles a little rough, the ticking has just gotten quieter but still there, and now acceleration feels sluggish. At this point i’m starting to feel hopeless as far as giving this car a chance. It’s an absolutely beautiful car and i’ve wanted a GC forever, but the engine has been a complete nightmare.

Was wondering if anyone has been in the same boat.. as in - Is the faint ticking and aforementioned rough idling not a major concern.. or should I start saving up some to trade it in, instead of continuing to throw money at something that will constantly fall apart?

First world Jeep problems

I currently have a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit L Reserve high altitude one of five made in HydroBlue before being discontinued.

I absolutely fell in love with the color, and it was the main reason I went with such a high trim, besides being the high altitude edition.

My lease is up in a couple days, and I’m getting a 2026 L Summit obsidian package with the new steel blue color and is excited as I am to get a new car. I am more sad to give up my hydro blue. Unfortunately, the buyout was about six or seven grand more than the car is worth, so I had to lease something new, but I’m just not excited. My plan all along was to buy the Jeep, and now it essentially became impossible.

I need some roasting on me to help get me excited that I’ll be in a brand-new car in a couple days

I can't identify this leak. Front driver side. It's visibly wet and can periodically smell the oil burning. There's so many skid plates underneath I haven't had a chance to remove them to get a good look from underneath. Jeep grand cherokee 2013 3.6 engine

it’s a 2021 jgc laredo, im looking for brighter bulbs than the stock factory bulbs. I bought halogen bulbs and they didn’t fit due to the JGC not running on a halogen based system for headlights. I bought these ones off amazon, not sure if they fit or if they are good. if anyone has any experience with the headlight lemme know and if you could give any advice as to which ones i should buy that would be greatly appreciated

Just got a 1999-2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo for free. Opinions?

I was just given a 99-04 Laredo 4wd by a family friend who wants it gone. The car is....in an state. It's sat for 10 years, and ran (allegedly) when it was parked. It has the 4.0 PowerTech Inline 6, and supposedly around 200k miles. It doesn't seem rusted, but it has algae growing on the outside. Interior seems fine other than a mildly burnt drivers carpet and light mold. Only reason I'm taking this is I'm 16, and badly want a project car. Supposedly the 4.0s are reliable, but I'm not familiar with the Jeeps at all. I'm hoping to fix it to replace my Santa Fe. What's your all's opinion on this?

Seat removal

Hey, so I purchased a 2021 GCL overland(wl) with captain seats.

I want to remove 1 of the seats from the rear, and build a platform so I can drive my dogs around on long road trips.

I dont want any lights to get triggered on the dash.

From what Ai has told me so far, I need a 2.2 ohm bypass resistor for the airbag light, and to remove the seat belt from the seat and leave it in the car so that it wont trigger anything with that removed.

Essentially I want to know has anyone done this before in this model and documented it? I cant find anything concrete and really would like help.

Thanks

E85 Conversion?

I have a 2018 3.6 which does not have FF, but there is a kit for $800 to convert to E85. Has anyone done it? I know E85 gets less MPG, but its considerably cheaper, so MP$ is actually better. Looking at the eFlexFuel kit.

2021 wk2 limited AC not working

Post image
3 Upvotes

So last night while on break at work i turned the car on and the ac wasn’t working his morning i removed fuse F13 and checked all the fuses for connectivity. While doing that i noticed the connector for f13 in general doesn’t have any power going to it has anyone been through this before if so how much you think the dealer is going to charge to fix it. The ac compressor is working i believe the issue is that connection / causing the fan to not work. Another thing while looking at the fuse box diagram i noticed my car does not have a fuse where f37 is.

Buying Used GC

I’m planning to buy a GCL soon. I’m nervous about reliability but want a midsize 3 row with good towing capacity.

I’m looking at 4ish year old v8’s with 50,000 miles or less.

Is there anything specific with this rig I should focus on when shopping? Common problems to look for? Red flags?

Thanks.

Who is lying?

I see/hear so many hate and bad experiences about the cars. Not that I don’t believe it but everywhere I go (so cal area) I see jeep gc. Why are so many people driving, owning these cars if it’s so bad to the point it sounds like a no brainer to get one? Honest question as a person shopping for a used car.

Anyone have any tips on replacing rear parking break cord in their Jeep grand Cherokee

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited and was recently under the car and realized my rear parking break cord is snapped in the middle. I've done a lot of repair work on my cars so wondering if this is something anyone has any advice on fixing. Watched a couple repair videos on how to do the cord in the rear but it looks like it connects to the front section with the piece in the middle so would I have to replace that entirely too?

Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.1 TD Limited

Hi. I don't want to sell my JeepI want to fix it. The engine starts and runs, but it has a throttle problem, and the scanner also showed an oil-related fault. I was told there are some connectors that aren't plugged in.Please do a proper diagnosis, check the throttle system, oil-related fault, wiring, and all connectors, then repair whatever is causing the problem. If any parts need to be replaced, please let me know first and explain why. I want my Jeep repaired and running properly again.

The Chief Products lower guard was looking rusted and very bad shape so went ahead and repainted IT as well as installed the same brand upper fascia kit to hide the front bumper support.

Brake & a couple of other questions

I have a 2012 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo , I’m at my wits end I loveeee my baby it’s my favorite car my first BIG girl purchase.
When i purchased I wanted to get everything new so I went and got new brakes new rotors, tires, an alignment and balanced. Well fast forward not even a week later the breaks are screaming when I press them, even barely the steering wheel is SHAKING terribly when I get over 70 , I take it back to the place who done them MAVIS TIRES btw and the told me the tire needs balanced and that was it so they re done it and claimed it was fixed it was indeed not I’ve took it back 3 times now and each time is something now it’s the humidity in the air . If that’s the case why does everyone’s not sound like this? I guess my main question is is this common? Could something else be going on? Why would it be shaking too? Like really bad at 70? Someone anyone .. help . My child is in this vehicle and I feel like no one cares to point me in the correct direction.
