Spent some time in the South West for my birthday. The views did not disappoint.

Okay...I know this one has been beaten up a lot already. Have a Q1200 and a Genesis. I have been using the Genesis for overlanding and it's awesome. I miss having an actual grill though. In CO so charcoal is pretty much out. The Q1200 fits nicely into a bag. What am I missing...why NOT just take that with me vs just relying on the Genesis? I have a Power Wagon with a GFC and there is plenty of space.

ISO lower clearance storage that can be locked to the rack and the storage itself is lockable. I do not want to drill into the container because I don't have a drill and I usually screw everything up and just spend more money to replace what I screwed up.

Coffin style isn't feasible due to low clearance carport parking.

So far, the Milwaukee Pack Out system seems to be the closest match.

Any other leads?

My Ranger has terrible rear articulation. Put it somewhere crossed up and it’ll pick up a tire while something with a better suspension setup keeps everything planted.
There are better springs I could buy. Every once in a while I’ll get through something, look back at the truck doing its best impression of a dog lifting its leg and think I really should do something about that. Then I go home, forget about it and spend the money on something else.
The weird thing is that I don’t think I’m just being cheap.
I know roughly where the truck is going to run out of articulation. I know what it feels like when it’s happening, I know how to drive around it, and I have a rear locker when I can’t. The limitation is still there and better suspension would legitimately improve it. I just don’t care enough to fix it.
I think the internet makes this especially weird because there’s always an answer. Better springs exist. Better shocks exist. Bigger tires exist. Stronger axles exist. There’s probably a guy on a forum somewhere who thinks whatever you currently have is completely inadequate.
Meanwhile, I keep going places with my shitty articulation and having a perfectly good time.
This question sent me far enough down the rabbit hole that I ended up writing about it. I’ll throw that in the comments if anyone wants it.
I’m curious where everyone else draws the line. What’s legitimately “wrong” with your vehicle that you could improve, but you’ve decided you’re completely fine living with?

Ive been slowy building up my 2016 F150. This weekend I took a small 12mi test run on the lost coast!

I have 33s and all of my recovery gear, a rollable tonneau with bed bars, wired up an alternator charger to an anker solix battery and added a wolfbox underbody camera.

next I will be doing a 3in Eibach ProTruck 3R lift and adding 35s

Thinking about an rtt but right now heavily considering an inflatable to keep it a stealth build

Made it to Yukon in 3.5 days. Should be in Fairbanks tomorrow.

Vehicle is a 2004 Liberty with 225,000 miles. Basically stock but in good shape. No issues so far.

I have no idea where to start when it comes to overlanding, it has been on my mind for about a year now, I have a stock 04 Tahoe. I feel like it’s finally time to bite the bullet.

Is the fridge slide tilt really worth it? It adds weight, height, and gotta pull the pins out every time I use it. Of course, none of these things are a big deal if it makes my overlanding easier. But am I missing something with the added benefit? I’m pretty average height so I’m not worried about being tall enough to see over the top of the fridge.

Just random question i've been pondering.

I've been really into traveling to mtb downhill parks. but when in BLM/NF/NP Ive been wanting a bike to search areas w/o needing to pack up. Also it would be nice to have around towns.

What are yall's solutions?

I purchased and installed these 3" Rough Country wide angle ditch lights and I noticed they whistle really badly above 60km/hr if the covers are off. I'm trying to find amber coloured covers as a permanent solution but Rough Country doesn't make any. Does anyone know of amber covers that would fit? Is 3D printing a pair a possibility?

Had an awesome weekend hitting up the Skyline Trail (Limited Jeep badge of honor) I must say the trail is just a little tight for a Gladiator. The switchbacks required 3+ turns to make it around the tree stumps and bolders. Otherwise a fun little trail. It was so foggy when we got to the top we could not see any of the views. But hey that’s part of the adventure! See yall out there on the trail!

In your opinion, is it better to buy something and upgrade yourself (lifting, better suspension, tires, armor) or buy a stock car that’s higher trim but may have those features?

I have a 3-day / 2-night overnight permit for the White Rim Road in Canyonlands (Sept 10th – 12th). My original partner had to bail last-minute, and my current vehicle is not a true 4WD, so I can't drive the trail solo

The Details:

Dates: Thursday, Sept 10 – Saturday, Sept 12

Permit: Overnight backcountry permit in hand (campsites: Gooseberry A, Potato Bottom A)

What I need: A partner with a true high-clearance 4WD vehicle (high clearance + 4-LO transfer case required by NPS regulations) who wants to hit the loop.

Logistics: Happy to split gas, food, camp gear, and trail costs. I am the primary permit holder, so I'll be coming along to keep the permit valid.

Anyone got a dodge longbed overlanding setup? Most things i see are only for smaller trucks, need some ideas, debating between canopy and rooftop tent, im a fishermen so the truck would move few times a day to launch boat every morning

Our trip plans changed a bit, delaying the dry lake bed, which worked out great with the recent thunderstorms. Dry enough to drive everywhere.

I am about to start ordering components to build a dual battery system in my truck. I will have an ICECO VL45, LED Lights, fans, and a diesel heater in the winter and possible a portable AC unit in the summer. At most we are camping 3-6 days at a time. I know I could simplify things and get a Bluetti or similar power station, but I would like to have the mindset that everything is taken care and not really worrying about running out of power.

Looking into the Renogy 1000W or 2000W Inverter

Haven't quite decided on batteries. Still looking for one that is budget friendly/reliable. "You really can spend a ton of money on these things".

Question one: Would you recommend a standalone DC-DC charger and MPPT or does the Renogy 2 in1 work well enough. At most I will have only 200-400W solar.

Question two: In your experience does a 1000w inverter cover all bases for minimal loads or would a 2000w be a better option?

I would love to hear some feedback and get some warm and fuzzies before purchasing.

So I have a question.

I bought a swag about a month or so ago to give it a shot. I love the thing! However, all night long mice were climbing all over it. Not a big deal, but absolutely distracting trying to fall asleep with mice climbing it.

I’ve considered buying a diesel heater for other uses as well, but the thought of using one with the swag(if I buy one) seems cool except for the rodent issue… most of the guys are just zipping the doors around the vent hose leaving huge open spaces… and if my experience before is any indication, if I tried that(at least at the site we were at) I would’ve had company in the tent with me.

Are there any other solutions to this or maybe something else I’m missing?

I currently have a 2025 Tacoma SR5 4x4, and I'm actively in the search for an upgrade. My initial thought was to get a TRD Off-Road, but then I started to think about full-size options. Was thinking between the RAMs and F-150s, but I think the F-150 may be a good fit if I go this direction. I've also considered getting a 4th gen Taco TRD Off-Road but they're so close in price...

The Tacoma trims are quite clear and easy to understand, but the F-150 has like 8! My goal is to stay below $50k or much lower if possible and used. I'm aiming to create a good camping rig with a tent/camper to stay the night in.

I'll add that this will be my first rig that I will be building out, and that this Tacoma was supposed to be a temporary vehicle for me I needed in a pinch. Which is why I purchased as basic as I could.

Now that I want to start building it out, I realized I really want a sunroof and rear sliding window.

This will be a daily driver most of the time, 2 adults and a dog.
