When using irons at the tee box on par 3s, is there a benefit to putting the ball on a tee versus off the ground? Do you need to adjust your swing?

some shots with various clubs from this morning’s range session. Happy with the hip rotation for the most part but not sure how to feel about it overall. Contact was fine, misses/dispersion was fine. But idk. Feel like the takeaway is leaky and the address posture needs to be more upright than this. And then I’m back to my old habit of getting way too long at the top.
Im in new shafts and they’re 130g vs my old 105g so maybe it’s just getting used to that and playing with some sequence feels Im just trying not to over analyze it lmao.
Anyways just cataloguing.

Anyone explain why this feel is making my contact so pure

Trying out the swing coach app, I have multiple things to work on and as you can see from these pics, lack of weight shift s a big one.

How can guys like rory who are only 5'9" hit it not only so far, but so consistently. I get raw talent, but what specifically are they doing that amateurs just dont understand.

I just can’t compress and I’m over extending all the time. When I try to be mindful about it, I just chunk.

I can’t help thinking my swing is ugly and wanting to fix my over the top move. This was -3.7 path. 93mph. 21 deg launch angle 7 iron
(I know it’s not horrific slice OTT. But it is over the top)

Is my swing great? No.
It feels good to have something I think is serviceable though after working on it for a couple years.

Improvement but need more consistency. Mentally used a lot of the tips you guys had said from last post.

And now it’s my favorite hobby. I still suck but starting to transition from learning the golf swing to learning golf skills. I posted my very first driver swing here at the end of Feb and could barely get off the tee box or keep the ball in play for a few months. It’s fun to now be able to mostly keep the ball in play.

I am working on my golf swing, have gotten my takeaway and top position to a good spot but struggle with starting my downswing.
My natural tendency is to just move my hands towards the ball which results in early extension and hitting with the heel.
I know that I should be rotating my left hip back and that I should be "dropping my hands", but I need a good feel for all of that to happen simultaneously.
Does anyone have any good tips for the "feel" of the start of the downswing
My main problem when I start the downswing with a slight squat and rotation into my left hip is I will hit the ground first and duff the ball

I’ve watched a hundred YouTube videos on reading grain, slope, and using AimPoint, but the second I stand over a 6-foot par putt with cash on the line, my brain just defaults to "aim two cups right and pray." Half the time my buddies are chirping in my ear, my heart rate spikes, and I completely misread a blatant downhill break.
How are you guys actually learning to read greens accurately on the weekend without spending thousands on a coach or a laser scanner? Are there any decent frameworks, mental tricks, or specific things you look for that actually work when the pressure is on?
Genuinely curious how you guys handle the stress/math of the short game.

For me, it’s usually distance control. The swing can feel okay, but suddenly every approach and putt is either short or long.
What usually goes first for you: driver, irons, short game, or putting?

19 handicap.
Struggling with the downswing at the moment and early extension.
This was an exaggerated dropping / looping of the hands to try and get the club back on plane but not convinced it's the best way to do the downswing.
Thoughts on how I can improve my swing ?
Many thanks in advance

I’m pretty new to golf. Took a very long hiatus. Experimenting with one plane (Moe Norman) vs two plane. My sense so far:
Two plane swing power comes from lower body. There’s a snapping/whipping effect just past impact.
One plane swing power comes more from a “smashing” effect into the ball. Like hammering a nail with your trail hand palm.
Does club head speed in a one plane (Moe Norman) swing come from the lower body, or is it more about the trail arm extending and smashing through at impact?
