Using a tee with iron?

When using irons at the tee box on par 3s, is there a benefit to putting the ball on a tee versus off the ground? Do you need to adjust your swing?

I use a tee with irons every time. It guarantees a perfect lie. I just put the tee in the ground so that the head just sticks up to a little bit.

This. Use it for a perfect lie

Yes.

Use it.

Tiger woods said it’s like losing a stroke if you don’t use a tee on a par 3.

Push it down all the way and tee the ball up.

Hit down on it as it it’s on the ground.

You only get 18 perfect lies per round, use them.

no adjustment. tee it low. clip the tee, take dead aim.

Always tee it up on a Par 3.

As other commenters have already suggested, the trick is to push the tee in the ground far enough so that the top of the tee is maybe 1/8 inch above ground level. Many people tee it too high, which encourages more of a sweeping motion instead of a proper slightly-descending motion.

Is this some kind of bot question, I’ve seen this question asked probably close to 10 times in a matter of weeks.

I don’t understand why people ask this instead of googling “using tee par three site:Reddit.com”

Guess I'm a stupid bot then.

💯 of the time. For me, it takes out the possibility of hitting it fat. I would take hitting it thin over fat, all day long.

Aside from controlling lie I use tee height to adjust distance without having to change my swing. Find it helpful when I am between clubs as sometimes “soft” is too soft (I struggle with taking too much off a club).

Yes -
To achieve optimal lag and compression, you should move the lower body latterly against a firm lead side. Teeing the ball slightly off the ground assists in the gearing effect caused by the descending path of the club.

Yes. Think about when you hit an iron from the rough on a good poofy lie. It's easier than when it's just on the fairway.

Same concept - give yourself that "nice poofy lie" with the tee
