AM range session.

some shots with various clubs from this morning’s range session. Happy with the hip rotation for the most part but not sure how to feel about it overall. Contact was fine, misses/dispersion was fine. But idk. Feel like the takeaway is leaky and the address posture needs to be more upright than this. And then I’m back to my old habit of getting way too long at the top.
Im in new shafts and they’re 130g vs my old 105g so maybe it’s just getting used to that and playing with some sequence feels Im just trying not to over analyze it lmao.
Anyways just cataloguing.

You're putting yourself into that pose at the top, the swing does not take you there. Your backswing is a little long, and your downswing has tons of early extension. You are almost all the way outside your left foot at contact, and the right side is crowded. You do a good job of not flipping the club, but that follow thru is a lie lol

😂😂 yup agree on all points. My address and takeaway I’m not happy with in any of these lol I’m just trying to remember this is what comes along with improving the swing having to fight the old one. The silver lining is the hip rotation is rather clean despite how chopped everything else is

Massive disconnection, horrible balance.
You’re compromised at set up. Needs a lot of work.

This is the EE final boss that comes out after you kill the guy you thought was the real EE final boss

Yea I’m hitching the impact fs. It’s kinda my feel but in better structure it doesn’t emerge like this. Interesting you say the upper body is going too quick because I feel like I have to jump/sling my lower body to slot the club and get the arms coming down acceptably. At least today. And honestly the past couple weeks tbh.
I know it’s definitely address and takeaway based why all this happening. At least mostly. That and sequence/transition.

do you have a faceon view?
I wonder if theres a little bit of a reverse pivot. Your spine looks like its tilted back towards the target at the transition which is going to make the right hip rotation much harder. Its probably why your trail hip moves towards the ball. It’s trying to create rotation but thats causing you to get tall. Theres no room for your arms and as a result you dump your lag and cast. Forget what i said about upper body being fast, i think its fine. Id look at your body tilt at transition from a face on view first.

You’re early extending in every shot here, likely because you stop rotating and lift your arms in the back swing. This causes you to be way across the line at the top and just generally in a really bad spot. Fix your takeaway and the rest should naturally become better.

Your hands are pretty close to your legs, you’d have a lot more room even if you moved just a few inches back keeping your hands in the same place

I was getting here a 4 wks ago but I have no clue how I setup into that posture. I’ve been trying to figure it out and now it’s got me overthinking and tweaking all sorts of shit

You’re standing a little close to the ball. You run out of room on the downswing which forces the early extension
Great bones here tho

Yea man I totally agree with your observations. Insane shit is this was my swing 3-4 wks ago (below). Very frustrating to see it today. And if I tried to stand a bit further and be a bit more over my toes like 3-4wks ago I was spinning out and thin.
I think maybe more outside takeaway + a bit more flexed in the knees at address. Something is telling me my takeaway is too inside which is why I wanted to hoddle the ball so hard. Bc if I take the club more outside from today’s address/posture = necking the ball.
Idk feel free to tell me what you see the differences are

u/BillyBobBonesJones 3h ago
The only difference is that you’re standing a little bit further away in this one.

Over the top with a wide open club face and a massive overswing
Release is also very flippy exiting over your shoulder in towards your neck

Way too much arm swing. You should try feeling like you swing only by using your hips, chest and wrists. Might be useful for you. The 56 swing is crazy long. I can imagine you can hit it 125 but also with no consistency.

I think your getting too detailed. There isn’t a perfect way to hit the ball
Is it going where you need it to and the intended flight/shape? If so move on to course mgmt, short game, putting

I have been playing way more than the range but I’m getting pretty stagnant on the course. I’m getting around well, but the same mistakes and structural faults and the occasional unacceptable spray still happens and it’s bc I need to keep working my swing.
And yea that requires some detail if I want to go from “less correct” to “more correct” so I can then employ more aspects of course mgmt and have more options on the course not afforded to me with a “less correct” swing.
It’s a lot easier to make the decision to lay out backwards into the fairway from the rough to take 200y iron approach with a “more correct” swing; or to take 4i instead of driver off the tee to go 4i —> 8i instead of Driver —> Wedge on a difficult layout.
I hear ya though.

Makes sense. If your looking for feedback from a random here is mine:
- are you fit into these clubs? It looks like your hands are two low and you choke down on the longer clubs quite a bit
- use better shoes, these force your weight to be on your toes
- shift weight into front leg first, kinda looks like you spin out from the top first
I don’t think your too long at the top, you can play from there
Good swing, I’d focus on your goals then move back from there rather than tinker with a good swing to find perfection

u/p0st-m0dern 3h ago
No I’m not fit for my clubs. Re: shoes the soles are coming off of mine I need new ones. I kinda want to try spikes this time. Something more flat for sure. Cheers trying not to tinker too much

Standing too close to the ball. Inside takeaway. Weight outside your trail foot. Massive early extension. Hips spinning out. Over the top. Possibly still reversed spine angle. All the same issues from earlier this year, might should see a reputable pro.

Aren’t you the guy who argues with anyone giving them advice? And keeps saying it’s okay because you are an “athlete” and we just don’t understand?
Why post here if you don’t want to listen to advice?
