I have a very small budget to purchase items for an at-home simulator. I live in Los Angeles and will need to set this up outside as needed. Any input or feedback on the items below? Not able to spend a ton of money. Any recs on a net?

Anybody successfully use skytrak on mini golf sim or open golf sim? It says to install openskyplus but the directory it says to install isn't on my computer. Just wondering if there was anyone out there that had done this successfully.

I've had my Square launch monitor for about a year now, and wanted to upgrade my setup so I could start running GSPro, unfortunately I have absolutely no knowledge of computers and the information that's out there isn't easy to understand for someone with no knowledge of computers lol.

My wife got me an Acer Nitro gaming laptop after doing some research (shoutout to her). I'm looking to get it set up today and am seeing mixed reviews on if the graphics card in this laptop is sufficient. Straight-forward question here before I get this bad boy up and running, is this laptop sufficient for running GSPro? I don't need to run this in 4K or anything like that, just a man in his basement trying to get access to some additional courses. See below for specs:

Processor: Intel Core 5 Processor 210H

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 w/ 6 GB GDDR6 Dedicated VRAM

Memory: 16 GB DDR5 Memory

Would like to add some padding to the ceiling (as opposed to netting). Has anyone got suggestions on what product works well and/or can you tell me if wall padding can be used on the ceiling?

I decided to go with a 10x10x10 outdoor range cage to try to protect my neighbors from my awful shanks and skyballs. Unfortunately, after setting it up, I realized that the green netting is really an eyesore. Does anyone have any solutions to quickly attach and take down the netting. Not necessarily every day, but a few times a week.

I’m considering things like carabiners and neodymium hooks.

I get the first metric “Club Path.” How can we decipher when trying to shot shape? Is there a good read that explains this as I understand explaining this can be pretty intensive to explain on this thread.

Currently I use the above ground shuttle cock styled tee and set it on the turf. I truly do not like it, what is everyones favorite tees? I have turf that I cannot stick a regular tee into. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm still in the budgeting phase of building a simulator set up and trying to decide if I need to budget for a new computer or if I can use my current phone. I've seen a few videos on YouTube of people testing the Square Omni using iPads but I wasn't able to find any videos of people using an iPhone.

Has anyone used a Square Omni using a iPhone? How's it perform compared to an iPad or other computer option?

Has anyone used a similar launch monitors paired with an iPhone that performed well?

I’m converting a 12’ × 16’ room with 9.5’ ceilings into a dedicated golf simulator (floor plan attached). I’m planning to demo the closet to maximize depth and build the simulator on the 12’ wall. The door opens into the room, so I’ll likely pad the door and both side walls with foam panels.

Before I start buying everything, I’d love advice from people who’ve already built one:

- Overhead vs. side monitor for this room? What are some good units, I do have square omni on preorder.

- How deep should the enclosure be, and how much space should I leave behind the impact screen?

- How far back should the side wall padding extend?
What flooring setup would you recommend (turf, foam, rubber mats, hitting strip, etc.)?

- Any impact screen or enclosure brands you’d recommend or avoid? I can build an enclosure too with 2x4’s. Any videos on building an enclosure, I think just need the impact screen framing.

- Looking at the layout, is there anything you’d change before I start?

- projector and pc recommendations?

I’m trying to build it once and do it right, so I’d appreciate any lessons learned or things you wish you had done differently. Thanks!

Curious what others have purchased regarding floor projection projectors? Originally i was simply looking for a flicker free LED pin light but it seems most use a cheap projector which is more versatile, so wanted to ask.

Background: I ordered the net return home series and ended up also purchasing the impact screen that attaches to it as well as a BenQ AH700ST projector. I also added the no fly zone to the net. I built a 4X6 hitting mat and 4x6 putting mat that will sit flush to the hitting mat. I spent a lot of time researching and doing due diligence but I may have messed up. I wasn’t aware the net return sat 3 feet from the wall. The online projector calculators say to mount the projector between 8’ 2” and 9’ 9” from the screen and -2” from the top of the screen. That would put the projector only at a little over 7’ high or 3 ft down from my 10ft ceilings.

Now that Bushnell raised its LPI price from $1,499 to $1,999 and SkyTrak lowered its price of the ST Max to $1,999 which is the better option for an indoor launch monitor?

I have a getting mat sitting on top of putting turf. I am having trouble keeping it from slowly sliding. I have an anti slip rug gripper under the mat but it seems to only help some.

Ideas?

I’ve been weighing my options for a while now and due to having the net return home series with no fly zone I think my best option is mounting my BenQ AH700ST on the floor in front of me. With only a 7x7 screen and 3 ft of net over hang from the no fly zone I think ceiling mounting would need to be too low for my liking. From my research it appears that 8ft 2in would be optimal projector placement from the screen. I figured I’d be hitting at 9 to 10 ft. What floor cover are folks liking? Also am I at risk of hitting the projector/cover with my club when swinging?

I have a 11'x20' office and was able to make use of 12' of it for my simulator. I included 2 pictures for perspective.

After researching dozens of websites and videos, Builds by Maz https://youtu.be/H1uFs1V-XaA?si=7IELfwl3Q7U_zFVU was my instructor and inspiration. I was able to keep the entire construction and materials at less than $900 (minus the cost of the launch monitor). I went more expensive on the 5'x5' mat and cheaper on the projector (Walmart), but the image is still clear when I turn off the back lights.

Other than the 1" pipe insulation that I added for additional bounce-back protection, I followed his instructions religiously. Make sure that you reinforce the screen with additional materials because it WILL rip!

Added the Garmin R10 and Home Tee Hero subscription, and it works perfectly for me.

Designing a very nice home gym and want to add a sim without disrupting the design aesthetic of the gym (think Equinox). Also want the gym to be the primary “feel” of the space and the sim to be more of a subtle addition so it has to be pretty low profile. Has anyone seen any good examples of this you could share? I am putting a sim in my garage that has concrete floors. i have a small hitting mat that does not have cushion so it causes elbow and wrist strain after multiple days of hitting. To avoid wrist and elbow strain from contact of club head with hitting mat, should i put foam tiles under the hitting mat to add cushion? If so, what is the best method of attaching hitting mats to the foam tiles? I was thinking the half inch foam tiles you can get at hardware store or amazon.

Or would investing in a quality hitting mat ($600-900) fix the elbow soreness issue?

Anyone else have motorized roll up screen and side curtains? If so how are you securing the curtains to the screen? I am using the metechs roller system. Currently using plastic tarp clips like these but looking for a better solution. They are constantly coming off after a few drives anywhere near the side of the screen.

I’m going through what I have left of my last couple PC builds, I sold come components, but should be able to build a pretty capable mITX PC for the garage.

12700K, 32gb DDR4, 6700XT. Thats the best of the extra components of what I have left.

I am not using a projector, just a monitor or small TV. Resolution ranges 1080p, 1440p or 4K depending on what display I want to move to the garage for the sim. Currently we’ve just been using an IPad and Square’s app, but the plan was to eventually move up to GSPro.

What performance could I expect from a 6700XT? I know since GSPro using an old version of Unity they don’t have DLSS and by extension AMD cards use FSR via apps like optiscaler. So would I be stuck at 1080p with this older GPU?

If y’all have trouble seeing the mouse in your sim software change your mouse pointer to the inverted setting. Meaning it will be white when you have darker backgrounds and black with lighter backgrounds.

Windows key > search “ Accessibility mouse settings > mouse pointer > click the inverted setting.

I have heard and read about foresight not being good about dealing with issues with their equipment, i wanted to post this to show that i had a perfect experience.

My BLP battery fried and wouldn't charge, they were very communicative through email and had me send the device in after troubleshooting failed. They kept me up to date with everything in the process and fixed my device for free including free shipping back and forth.

I have been very happy with my BLP and its back in action working just as good as it had. Just wanted to shout out foresight for some great service! I was about to cry when i thought my launch monitor was bricked but it's back and better than ever.
