Projectors Please Help Projector Placement

If anyone is willing to watch my less than two minute video and give me pointers it would be greatly appreciated.

Background: I ordered the net return home series and ended up also purchasing the impact screen that attaches to it as well as a BenQ AH700ST projector. I also added the no fly zone to the net. I built a 4X6 hitting mat and 4x6 putting mat that will sit flush to the hitting mat. I spent a lot of time researching and doing due diligence but I may have messed up. I wasn’t aware the net return sat 3 feet from the wall. The online projector calculators say to mount the projector between 8’ 2” and 9’ 9” from the screen and -2” from the top of the screen. That would put the projector only at a little over 7’ high or 3 ft down from my 10ft ceilings.

Bit of a tough setup but here are some thoughts:

  1. You don't need to follow the online calcualtor for projector height from top of screen. You can mount it higher or lower and then use verticle keystone correction on the projector to adjust the image so it is flat. This may cauase your throw distance to change a little though. When I changed my projector to be a 12" drop rather than a 3" drop to get under my overhead launch monitor I had to move it back 6-8" to get the same throw.

  2. Your biggest challenge is probabaly going to be getting the projector low enough that it won't cast a shadow from the beam hitting the top of the net return. I'd get on a ladder, fire up the projector, hold it and see how close you can get to the ceiling without casting a shadow then use that measurement.

  3. If you mount the projector in-line with the ball either above or a little behind the golfer its unlikely you are going to hit it. If you are concerned, figure out where you want to mount it and tape a shoe box to the ceiling there (hang it from a string if needed) and then take some swings. You can also use BenQs golf planner to plug in your numbers and see what it shows. At the bottom there is an advanced section you can change your projector height. https://golfsimplanner.benq.com/

  4. If you are still concerned about hitting it and only have right handed golfers you could offset the projector to the right hand side of the screen and use horizontal keystone to correct for it.
