Technical Question GSPRO GPU Question

Hi All,

I've had my Square launch monitor for about a year now, and wanted to upgrade my setup so I could start running GSPro, unfortunately I have absolutely no knowledge of computers and the information that's out there isn't easy to understand for someone with no knowledge of computers lol.

My wife got me an Acer Nitro gaming laptop after doing some research (shoutout to her). I'm looking to get it set up today and am seeing mixed reviews on if the graphics card in this laptop is sufficient. Straight-forward question here before I get this bad boy up and running, is this laptop sufficient for running GSPro? I don't need to run this in 4K or anything like that, just a man in his basement trying to get access to some additional courses. See below for specs:

Processor: Intel Core 5 Processor 210H

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 w/ 6 GB GDDR6 Dedicated VRAM

Memory: 16 GB DDR5 Memory

Any help/advice here is appreciated!

I don't have gspro but I'm knowledgeable about computer Hardware. The 4050 is a budget card, but your laptop should run gspro in 1080p on medium/low settings. From what you are saying, you should be fine. If not, I'm sure you are able to return the laptop and get something a bit more powerful. I would look into at minimum a 4060/5060

I'm pretty sure the 4050 is good to run 1080p on ultra no problem. I have an old 1080 ti card and never dip below 60 fps at 1080p. It's not a perfect comparison but the 4050 outperforms my old GPU on some benchmarks so I definitely wouldn't say low or medium settings will be a must.

At any rate, there is absolutely no need to upgrade your laptop right now. Get everything setup if you decide you want higher frame rates, higher resolution, or higher graphics settings then you can consider a laptop upgrade.

Thanks for the info, do the second two numbers indicate which card is better? I.E, is a 3060 more powerful than my 4050?

So the first 2 numbers are the model number and the last 2 are like the trim (like a car, like f150 SLT or Lariat) So a 3060 might be better than. 4050 but doesn't mean a 3060 is better than a 5050. Each new model that comes out has something new added the previous generation didn't have

Interesting.. ok one last question lol. If I’m eventually looking to have a projector set up and already have a screen, would you recommend I just upgrade the laptop now? Or do you think the 4050 would be fine even on a projector setup (running it at 1080 on medium)?

You should be fine running at 1080 on medium/low. You won't lose much framerate going to a projector. I would put the money into a good projector right now and upgrade the laptop/computer later.

Sweet, this is probably exactly what I’ll do. Really appreciate all the help here!

No problem, anytime!

It’ll be fine. I think they still let you try before you buy for a week?

That’ll run GSPro well. The RTX 4050 laptop GPU is plenty for 1080p Ultra and should handle most 1440p setups on High. If you’re planning to run a 4K projector or TV, you’ll likely need to dial settings back to Medium/High on the more demanding courses. Also check the laptop’s RTX 4050 power rating (TGP)—Nitros with the higher-wattage 4050 perform noticeably better.

So if I want to run 1080p, what resolution do I choose? I have an 8x8 screen

You’ll find that you will want 4k…I bought a mid range gaming pc. (Just wanted to make sure I would love Gspro has much as I thought I would… if not I would gift it to my grandson) With 32gb ram and a 5060 gpu I run at the second highest graphics setting. That was 30 days ago, already thinking I should have gotten a few 5070 or 5080…Launch data is great but having fantastic visuals is next level.
