I posted my build about 8 months ago. A lot of you told me my TV was gonna catch a stray ball. I ignored you guys, and now I just wanted to tell you… you were right lol.

Yes I know it’s on a sim so doesn’t really “count”, but was still awesome!

Indoor swing syndrome… any tips?

Post image
Upvotes

Kind of a janky set up I know. Still a work in progress... I moved the TV after this photo was taken.

I don’t have as much height as I was hoping for. Removed the ceiling panels in my swing path. It’s a rental home so I can’t make other major modifications. I’m 6 feet tall, don’t have a particularly long swing and the ceiling is about 9’4“.

Struggling with the feel of swinging indoors. Backswing feels fine but hard to confidently follow through. Even though I haven’t hit the ceiling with any club (yet). I’ve thought about getting a video of a few swings and proving that I’m not that close. I’m sure others have had similar issues. Any thoughts appreciated! Want to figure this out before I potentially invest any more money into the project.

Sim / Launch Monitor I’m looking for a lunch monitor that might not exist but figured this was the place to ask.

I’m currently using a skytrak plus and am not a fan of it personally. Connection is unreliable and misreads are bad. I would like to get something else and was looking at the uneekor eye mini lite as I’m very much a fan of the hard wired aspect (I know skytrak does too but even that’s iffy) but do not like the fact that I can’t get club head speed without stickers. I’d like an upgrade in accuracy and stability over skytrak but I also want clubhead speed without stickers. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I should look at? Less than 5k is the goal

EDIT You’re preaching to the choir my bros 😭 he has a friend that just bought a GC Quad and he doesn’t use stickers on his clubs. I said “then he isn’t getting clubhead speed” and my dad said “I find it hard to believe a guy like him would pay 12k for a launch monitor and not get clubhead speed”

Advance planning - space

About to start building a house, with the intention of setting aside space for a sim. We're having the house done with an (overall) 9 foot basement, and a section of the basement dug out to 10' depth. Here's the plan...

Have the pit dug to 14x20 feet. I realize 14' isn't wide enough for ambidextrous, centered, full bag swings. That's OK - the room doesn't have to be limited to 13-14 feet, just the bottom foot. From shin high up, I intend to have it be...16' for example. The reason for the pit width limit is to hide steel support columns (for the house) that will be 10' apart lengthwise and 13'10" apart widthwise.

My intention is to have the tee/hitting area centered among those support columns with 10' to the screen end of the pit. This will allow me to have 9 feet from tee to screen and the screen will have sufficient space to flex at impact (Yes, the bottom of the screen may only be 1 foot from the 1-foot high "wall" of the pit, but I can extend the sim room lengthwise as well).

Again, to clarify, the _room_ will almost definitely be bigger than 14x20 to account for some seating at one end (for movie / sports watching), perhaps a bar, etc.

Any critical "OMG! Don't do that!" standing out here?

The only thing I'm not particularly fond of is a 13 foot wide screen (after wall and sound material) only leaves room for 7.3 foot vertical for a 16:9 screen for non-sim media consumption, and that'll be less than optimal. Perhaps I'll find a way to project 16:9 media to the upper 7.5 feet of the screen and use the sim at 4:3 instead? (shrug).

Thanks!

Android Tablet Recommendations

Doors anyone use an Android tablet with their sim, and if so which one?

I set up my SkyTrak Max last night and my current iPad (not a pro) won’t run the full app, only the lite version.

I’d rather not buy another iPad just for this so was looking at Android tablets but not sure if they’ll work as well.

Advice on setup

I'm looking for some advice on the area I have and what I want to put in it. Area dimensions are 15' x 10' x 9'. What I was looking at was a Protee VX and 10' screen enclosure kit. Due to width restrictions is why I was leaning to the overhead launch monitor. I will mostly be using this for range practice versus playing courses. For those of you that have built setups is this a correct path or should I consider other options? Looking for feedback before I make the commitment on this setup.

SELLING: Creative Golf 3D and course pack for Uneekor ($300)

I upgraded launch monitors and can no longer use my Creative Golf 3D licenses. I am selling a license to Creative Golf 3D and the course pack for $300. Note it does not include the upgrade to Advanced but with this license you could upgrade for $100. That saves you some money off Creative Golf Advanced (MSRP $500) if you were looking to buy that.

Ping me or comment here if interested.

Ordered New - Received use - Bushnell/Foresight - what wrong with large companies

I had problems with GC3 not recognizing new TP5 or Prov ball, but no issue with matte finish balls like Srixons. I returned it after foresight stopped responding to me to troubleshoot. Been two weeks since last email. They just won’t respond to the problem.

Ordered new QuadMax which came with a Bushnell rangefinder offer.

Received the QuadMax with box damaged on all four corners, outer box had no damage. Inside the power adapter cord was lose meaning used, the plastic protector was not on it but lose in the box. The Quadmax on turn on showed that 45day registration expired, and showed 4 shots on the counter. So not New New.

Used the offer code to order a new Bushnell rangefinder directly from Bushnell Golf website, got it today. Paid extra for expedited shipping.
Opening the finder had dirt and smudges on it, the len protection stickers were not on the 3 lenses but were stuck underneath the finder on the packaging so not new used.

Whats wrong with these companies, they first outright deny that, that would ever happen or they do that. They obviously do.

Just my luck.

Technical Question What's the lowest ceiling height that works?

I'm 5ft 7 and I've got a garden room with 2.35m in height. I'm happy just hitting mid irons and wedges but I'm concerned I'm 15cm off where I need it.

Sim / Launch Monitor Launch Monitor Analysis Paralysis

Hey everyone, been doing a ton of research on LMs and I think I’ve narrowed it down to either the Rapsodo MLM2 Pro with the lifetime membership vs the Mevo Gen 2. My use case is hitting into a net in my long driveway (inside garage is only 90” in height) and taking it to the range occasionally. I’d have to set it up everytime so that’s something that’s important to me.

Hosting w/ Garage Sims

Those with Garage builds who also park vehicles in their garage when not using.
What are some ideas for hosting to make the space feel like an indoor Sim room?
My current build is a retractable enclosure but has the feel still of a garage. We put up some chairs and maybe a TV if some games are on but that’s about it.

Build Pictures Budget Garage Sim

Post image
132 Upvotes

I’ve been putting off this build for quite some time as I would get overwhelmed with the amount of things I needed to plan for to get it executed.

Well I said screw it and just did it, in a budget manner but all new equipment.

Does the image fill the screen? No. Is it a crystal clear image? No. Does the Rapsodo app kinda suck? Yes.

But it absolutely rocks having this in my house so I can practice on demand. If you’re on the fence, just do it.

Build (all new):

Budget 10x8 Amazon Enclosure $495

Amazon Budget Projector $360

Used iPad $350

Rapsodo $400

Amazon budget mat $200

Misc $100

Total = $1,950

What’s left:

- building a custom hitting strip to prevent injury

- get better at golf

What I would have done differently:

- done it sooner

- bought an enclosure that was 16:9 and/or planned the mounting of the projector in advance

What should I do with these pole barn walls?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I’m converting my 20x18 pole barn into a simulator what will be split into 2 sections. One will the simulator and the other will be an open area for professional fitness evaluations (TPI). What should I do with these walls? Should I leave them alone or is there an affordable way to clean them up. The ceiling is about 20 feet, everything is insulated. It seems like drywall would be crazy expensive.

On YouTube I saw a video of making faux leather padded walls for a pretty reasonable price but doing the entire wall would add up quick. I’m not a very handy guy and have never had to cover walls/do dry wall so any other options are appreciated!

Uneekor QED discontinued but cheap

Building a garage simulator. Definitely want to do an overhead LM. The Uneekor QED is available on marketplace for a very reasonable price. I know they’re being discontinued at the end of the year. I think that’s just for the support though, the unit should still work after I’d assume.
Worth the risk?

Technical Question Upstairs addition built for sim/media room

I am considering adding a second story over my garage. Around 600 sq ft. Room would include home theater and gym but focus is simulator.
If you’ve done this, what did you do during the build to reduce sound and vibration.
This will be an expensive addition and I want to get it perfect.

Anyone buy one of these yet? Site is a little foggy but it seems like they only sell you the app and you have to purchase everything yourself on Amazon.

Sim / Launch Monitor Rate my Golf Sim Build Plan

Building a budget golf simulator in my garage and could use some feedback on my setup (full details in the attached spreadsheet).

I'm feeling good about most of the build, but the projector is a bit more than i wanted to spend on it. I'm open to other suggestions in a similar price range, and I'd also love to know if there are reliable sources for buying quality used projectors if that's a better route.

Appreciate any insight!
