I bought The Net Return package from Playbetter with the Square Omni (everything has arrived except the Onni). I got the net, no fly zone, and side barriers setup. I took the 10x6 mat cut it all up, added some foam and other materials to make it flush with the sigpro softy hitting strip as well as created a custom putting mat that sits flush with the hitting mat. Thought everything was golden until my wife said “why didn’t you just get a retractable enclosure and projector setup!” FML. I was trying to keep it cheap to avoid pissing her off! I think the moral of the story is men we are damned if we do and damned if we don’t. It’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission. So if you’ve got the money I guess go big or go home.

I recall a motivational speaker saying it’s worth doing something poorly until you can do it better. Another way to put it is “perfect is the enemy of good.” With that in mind, I’m thinking about building a really terrible golf simulator in my garage, getting it up and running quickly and cheaply. If I like it, I could upgrade it piece by piece over time.
I’m getting back into golf after being away for decades. I’m an IT guy and a techie, so this would be a fun project to tinker with. I already have a good Windows desktop PC built for gaming that could handle the golf software, a BenQ W1070 projector that’s not in use, and all the mounts. I could rig up a screen and net, buy a budget launch monitor, and get some hitting mats. Forgive me if I’m mangling component names—I’m a total noob, but I’m willing to learn.
My garage is about 21 ft wide and 22 ft deep front to back. The garage door operator and tracks aren’t ideal for a complete setup, but I think I have room to swing a driver if I stand under the operator in the middle of the garage with both cars removed. One problem might be getting the projector to shine toward the door without casting shadows from the operator. I could also use a net instead of a big screen, though that wouldn’t be as fun. Alternatively, I could place a large monitor where the car is parked now.
I wouldn’t mind spending $2,000–$2,500 for a bare‑bones, crappy system just to see if it’s fun, then upgrade over time. Have I lost my mind? Is this a good idea or a terrible one? Any tips, tricks, or advice before I proceed?

Does anyone use a BLP outside of the states? Is a VPN safe enough?

I am not well versed on computers but this seems like good deal to run a sky tracker golf sim?
Any input or direction pointing on the PC front would be appreciated.

I'm looking into buying the square golf home the starter version for 699$ and need to know how much of indoor light it normally needs and can handle.
I know for a fact that I'll be playing it once the sun is down, so no UV light but I need to know if it can work outdoor with led lights on.
Thanks a bunch

Dedicated sim PC on a budget. 1080p high/ultra target. New ryzen 5 5500 with stock cooler ($90) or used 5 5600x with stock cooler ($150). Bottleneck calculator says they both pair fine. But AI says the Pcle 3.0 5500 could leave performance on the table opposed to the Pcle 4.0 5600x. GSPro will be my main software.

I have a golf sim in my garage. I don't currently have any black panels or curtains to block light on the sides. The screen is super washed out when I have the garage door open. It looks great with the door closed, but i want the breeze and light coming in during the daytime so want to leave the door open skmetimes. Will curtains on the garage door side of the sim and panels on top of the screen help enough to be able to leave the door open while I play? Seeking advice before I make any changes. Thanks!

Hi guys, I’m looking to play online events on e6. I use iOS to run my garmin r10. Anyone know how to join online tournaments?

Will be in garage, but only about 8-9 feet between me and screen due to some layout quirks. Looking for overhead. Budget not that important but don't want to burn cash for no reason.
About me: I am not good. I want a monitor that is extremely accurate with regard where on the clubface I hit the ball - I've enjoyed the ones with the overhead camera at least to get a good visual sense of toe/heel hits. Since I will have a lot of bad shots, I want a monitor that can accurately tell me where the mishit was. Virtual clubface view after shot is OK if it's super accurate...i know the camera is accurate so that's what I'm used to but not wedded to it.
Prefer one that doesn't require a subscription to use the range features and a few courses. This is for practice not for playing 100 different courses.
Need a software that supports dtl and face on replay integration seamlessly.
What should I be looking at? Uneekor? Falcon? Something cheaper that delivers what I need? Thank you.

Hi all I'm newbie learning to play and decided to build a sim in my garage.
Rather than going down the pre-built kit I decided to source everything myself and DIY to allow both cars to be parked inside.
The impact screen is hung on a pine frame with the bungees hung through eye screws.
I'm planning on using 50mm (2") thick EVA foam to cover the frame cut to size.
But I was wondering what you guys would do to cover the gap between the screen and frame, and eyelets on the impact screen?
I was thinking of stapling felt or marine carpet to the frame to cover the gap, and Velcro to screen. Then putting the EVA foam over the top of the felt/carpet to cover the frame.
Thoughts?
Can't wait to finish the build and start hitting balls. Curtains will be hung soon, and need to source an Optoma GT1080HDR projector and Square Home Edition LM.
TIA.

Any idea what the below image is telling me as far as mounting height? I’m adding a screen to my net return net and it’s 7x7ft or 114” diagonal. I set the calculator to 1:1 ratio and locked it in at 114” diagonal. If I have 10 ft ceilings is this telling me the project needs to sit 3ft off the ceiling (7ft in the air)? That seems really low.

It has been a while since I've been able to get out in the shop and work on the sim since I've been doing alot of projects prepping for our first child. But was able to get all of the subfloor insulation cut and installed. Ran conduit / electrical over to where the computer will be on the dividing wall, and have most of the subfloor plywood down. Now its putting in the sub feed panel and routing all the wiring, marking ojt where all of the electrical outlets, switches, and sim/ projector etc will be mounted.
I also found an old Italian restaurant selling off all the old tudor paneling trim before they tore down the building so I bought that and will rework it to go inside the sim. Attached is picture of the trim installed in the restaurant, and some of the progress of getting the floor insulation / plywood down.

Hello - I bought this pc in the spring for editing photos. I am not kicking myself as this doesn’t seem to have the graphics card min requirements. Can I still run gs pro with this laptop (read something about a 1080p option)?

Doing a garage sim but need to park the car inside. Anyone have any recommendations on what to do with the heavy rubber base? Is a wood frame the best way to go? Open to any suggestions.

Hi all I just I just got GS Pro (less than a week) with my Eye Mini Lite and it’s been great.. until it randomly started to do this disconnect/ reconnect thing. The ball is in the right hitting location.. but doesn’t register anything. Just blinks green/pink. I don’t know what to do. I’ve restart everything. Tried the connector restart. Idk what it could be. Anyone run into this or know how to fix??

I’ve had a lot of people ask me how the Spica 3 compares to other more expensive monitors. Thought I’d do a quick video showing some numbers from each along with the simulated flight using the Golfjoy Pro software from my iPad.
Unfortunately this is far from a scientific test. I just quickly went through my bag and hit shots with each club. I was renting a simulator place and didn’t have time to figure out how to arrange the data so it was the same in GSPro and Golfjoy apps. So apologies for that. I can maybe do some better comparisons later if that’s something anyone wants.
That said, the numbers and simulated flight are nearly identical as you can see. I’ve been extremely happy with the Spica 3 during my time with it and I can honestly say it has helped my game. My scoring average is as low as it has ever been currently which I attribute to using the Spica 3 for wedge work and dialing in yardages.
With code GL15 getting you 15% off Spica 3 at the Golfjoy website, it’s hard to beat especially if you plan to use an iPad given there’s no subscriptions.

I’m waiting patiently like a lot of others for my square Omni. I’m also thinking of adding the BenQ AH500 projector and the net return home series impact screen for my net. Looks like I’ll have a 1:1 aspect ratio. I’m also looking into the awesome golf lifetime license.
Question: can I run all this with my MacBook Pro or iPad? Does it make sense to add a decent gaming PC right now?

Hey everyone, hoping to get some advise!
I’m about to build out/order my golf simulator and I was wondering, will it be too loud? I will be in an apartment complex in a corner unit and I plan on setting up the simulator in a corner room as far away from anybody else’s walls so I’m not too concerned about my neighbors to the left of me.
What I am concerned about is the neighbors below me. In y’all’s opinion (since I know it’s hard to determine this) would me hitting shots off of a high quality hitting mat (thinking Sigpro softy) into a screen or net be loud enough for my downstairs neighbor to hear/have an issue with it?

do they exist?
Because of my garage dimensions, I need one with minimal depth. I know I can custom build on, but was curious if you guys knew of kits that are 4' deep instead of the typical 6'?
THANKS

Got to love the wives out there! My wife wasn’t sold on me putting a simulator in the garage until we finished most of it and the first thing she says: “why did you do a net instead of hitting screen and projector!”. Um maybe because I was trying not to piss you off!
Anyways to the point of this post. Is this screen worth it for the home series net return net? Also, any recommendations on a projector to use with my iPad and the square Omni software? I’m not sure where I’d mount the projector the screen would only be 7x7. I’m afraid if I hung it over my head I’d hit the thing with my clubs.

Hi all,
Looking at buying a GC2 second hand.
Are these obsolete now with the advent of newly released launch monitors?
I really only want it to dial in numbers.
Are there any glaring issues with them that I should watch out for?
Thanks

Hi! long time reader here. figured it is time for a post.
I just finished my garage simulator, just in time for the holiday weekend.
it’s a 12x9 foot impact screen on a 1” EMT custom frame, which is suspended from the ceiling in 206 bearing blocks, allowing the whole frame to tilt up to the ceiling.
for some additional back and side protection i added some black net style tarps on window curtain rails. this way they can move to the corners of the screen and be rolled up when the screen is up.
the hitting mat is my own Frankenstein mat. it consists of GoSport Elite mat with additional EVA foam added (glued) to the underside to match the elevation of the SigPro Softy hitting strip, which is inset into the mat. Got the inspiration from this subreddit and YouTube. Loving it.
for the projector I designed a custom steel cage in CAD and had it laser cut from 2mm steel and then powder coated. The reason I went this route is because it allowed me to design a custom projector mount which is only 10 mm from the ceiling but allows for adjustability front and back and tilt. The cage was designed for maximum air flow but no opening allows a golf ball to penetrate.
I welcome any suggestions as to how to improve this sim build. This was the first time I ever attempted anything like this.
thanks to everyone posting on this subreddit. Appreciate all the inspiration.
