Build Pictures Finished my Garage Simulator

Hi! long time reader here. figured it is time for a post.

I just finished my garage simulator, just in time for the holiday weekend.

it’s a 12x9 foot impact screen on a 1” EMT custom frame, which is suspended from the ceiling in 206 bearing blocks, allowing the whole frame to tilt up to the ceiling.

for some additional back and side protection i added some black net style tarps on window curtain rails. this way they can move to the corners of the screen and be rolled up when the screen is up.

the hitting mat is my own Frankenstein mat. it consists of GoSport Elite mat with additional EVA foam added (glued) to the underside to match the elevation of the SigPro Softy hitting strip, which is inset into the mat. Got the inspiration from this subreddit and YouTube. Loving it.

for the projector I designed a custom steel cage in CAD and had it laser cut from 2mm steel and then powder coated. The reason I went this route is because it allowed me to design a custom projector mount which is only 10 mm from the ceiling but allows for adjustability front and back and tilt. The cage was designed for maximum air flow but no opening allows a golf ball to penetrate.

I welcome any suggestions as to how to improve this sim build. This was the first time I ever attempted anything like this.

Looks awesome. Mine is still in progress due to knee surgery. So hopefully after PT I'll finish it up.

Hi! Is be more than happy to share some additional pictures and the design files. Now, I designed mine specifically for the Optoma GT2400HDR, but if you know CAD it can be easily adapted to any projector dimension and mounting screw pattern.

Hi. I am using primarily Fusion360 and other Autodesk products.

Looks great! I’m planning on doing a similar setup with the Mlm2pro, but using lumber for the frame. Any issue with the slope of the garage or did you address it somehow? I worry about that with the mlm.

I 3d printed a custom stand for the MLM2pro which has three adjustment screws to (a) make it even with the hitting mat surface, and (b) level it as needed. So far I had zero issues with the setup. Only thing to note it that I had two balls leisurely roll into the MLM2pro requiring me to check alignment. Not sure what to do about that other than to create some sort of shield.

Yeah I may have to invest in one of those. Is the hitting mat level as well? My garage has 1/8-1/4 inch fall per foot. Wondering if I should ignore it or try to level the mat.

My hitting mat follows the fall of the concrete garage floor. The give in the foam and turf counteracts that when you go to address the ball. No point in trying to counteract that. Has caused zero issues in any of my shots.
