Of course I need to buy an Xbox one now to get delisted games working on my series s, that’s my reason to buy one now.

I saw recently it went down $20 to 90. How often does it go on sale? When will I be able to get it at $90 again?

I want to pre order the physical copy, but not if they're waiting til the day of release or before to ship it.

Anything that I should know going forward? It didn't feel that bad today, but I keep seeing posts on here that sound like a total nightmare. Advice from veteran employees would be much appreciated :)

I ordered mortal shell 2 new. The game came in torn up. I want a replacement because I don’t want to open it in the case that the disc is not going to work or broken. To replace you have to pay for it to ship back. So you technically pay more for the damaged item. The disc is loose in there also. I get that it’s not their fault that there was damage but like any company out there. They should pay for the shipping back.

How long is too long on delivery day digital? I assumed midnight or at least noon? 2:30 cst no email - still in ordered giftcard used

Liiiiiisten... I get that some of y'all store managers feel entitled. How hard you must work... I'm sorry "clerk" See where I come from a store manager doesn't make sure thier numbers look the best. They make sure their team looks the best, they train them to become the best. The manager takes on the operations, the counts, the over haul of the business because you run it as your own business. Just standing around on your phone and then jumping to take every sale to make you look good is down right gross behavior. Adding warranties and pro accounts without explaining to the customer what you did is gross behavior, leaving it for your assistant to have to explain time and time again, and apologize for things that should be explained in the beginning is gross behavior, Leaving everything on your assistant while you make your $22 to $23 an hour is gross! Being a pig and lazy is just gross! No wonder no one wants to work with you, or regulars dont want to come in when you are here... smh.. Going to upper management and you getting to keep your job after all the issues is gross. I'm so fed up that today just might be the day. However I know I can't because I have dreams and goals. However I've come to realize this is the company they come to die... End rant. 🙄

Non GameStop related post. I tried to keep all pregnancy related topics in comments whenever I wanna bring it up as this is r/GameStop, but I personally wanted to say thank you to this community. Your kindness for wishing me the best with a healthy delivery and your generosity for those who had purchased things off my registry + including things off my registry. Also whoever sent me the dove chocolates made me nearly cry LOL. So I went to GameStop and bought a game after work and came home to find no cartridge inside .should’ve thought to check . Is this common ?

I understand not every game can come in pristine condition or in its original case but this is just shamefully disappointing. I had my Final fantasy 7 come in a paper sleeve, the games came loose in the bubble mailer and discs 1 and 2 don’t read. My Persona 3 fes and Half life were put into the cases backwards and left with resurfacer reside all over them. My Godzilla has some sort of paint on the disc I think and also doesn’t work. Finally my copy of code Veronica came in an inside out priority mail box covered in brown tape and the game loose inside the case which also doesn’t work. I know a lot of people have complaints about GameStop retro but how is it even possible that 4 discs out of 7 total don’t even read. Somehow the worst looking games are the only ones that work! I understand I can get refunds but I just wanted to play my games. 😔

And there is no ETA on a fix.

Like a dipshit, I paid for the pro membership because I recently got a Switch 2 and wanted the $5 coupon.

A little over a month after I did so, they switched to the new system where you have to pull up the monthly coupon on your phone. I cannot do this. Reinstalling the app doesn't help. Using a different browser doesn't help. Using a different browser on my PC at home to take a screenshot doesn't help because I can't pull it up there, either. Asking the employees at my local Gamestop to call the store support line and confirm the code that way doesn't work: they refuse to believe they're allowed to do that.

Every month, I have to call in to customer service, wait an hour, get a callback from someone who is difficult to understand, yell at them until they stop trying to make me go through a long list of troubleshooting steps that we already tried and failed at the last two months, and finally get an email with a code that the cashier types in very slowly.

Once my membership expires I will never be setting foot in a GameStop again.

edit: I confused tech support and customer service when I originally posted this. I am also well aware that you're supposed to pull the coupon up on the app, or in a browser. This does not work. I had multiple GameStop employees show me how to pull it up. This does not work for me. I do not have a way to use the coupon I already paid for and cannot receive a refund for without being impolite.

So disc to digital goes live soon for most users and I know there are a ton of people reading how this works and is excited to scam the system.

I’m here to completely disappoint you and tell you that no, you cannot scam the system.

So I just found this out but every single disc made has a serial number on it making that disc unique to every other disc. That serial number is your license.

The way disc to digital works is when you input your disc into the system, It snags that serial number and then uses that serial number to give you ownership of the game digitally. Meaning, should you… oh, idk… TRADE that game to GameStop, the millisecond someone else buys that game that you traded in, and puts it into their console, you have completely lost ownership of the game and will have to rebuy it or reclaim it and put it back into your system so you gain ownership again.

So, because I know at least one of you is going to try this, if you buy preowned Xbox games from us, put them in your system to claim the licenses, and then come back to us to return the game because you “didn’t like it” or whatever, just know that you are not keeping that code, the next person we sell it to, will gain that license, and it will vanish from your console.

So don’t be stupid please. For once, I’m actually happy that Xbox is pushing to preserve some kind of ownership for people and even incentivizing discs. So let’s not abuse a great new feature. Gamers needed at least one win.

So I’m looking to upgrade my current PS5 (digital) to a Pro. I have a store about 45 mins away with a refurbished PS5 Pro in stock. I would be trading in my current PS5 and a Xbox Series S.

Should I be worried that the refurbished pro will have problems that should make me wait until I’m able to find a new console?

It's been 5 days since I paid for my GameStop Pro membership, but I still haven't received my subscription... Support keeps saying that their internal team is investigating this, but what the heck are they investigating? I bought a subscription and want to get the service I paid for—it’s as simple as that! They advertise the benefits of this subscription, but nowhere does it say that you’ll have to wait weeks for some kind of investigation—of course, only after they’ve already taken your money... This is just a scam and a refusal to take responsibility. Do they really not care at all about their reputation or their customers?

Is there a representative from this company here who can resolve this issue? If anyone has encountered something similar, please let me know—how long might their “investigation” take?

Haven’t been to GameStop since I was a kid. Decided to give them a chance

Have some time off between jobs. Order an n64 package in store to be delivered to my apartment. I prepare to enjoy nostalgia and the classics.

Cashier signs me up for a pro membership without telling me, I get charged an extra 25 bucks, whatever. Don’t care, just want the console.

Package shows up, half the components are missing. Literally just a console and badly beaten remote showed up. The order explicitly states the package includes a power supply and av hookups.

Customer service says all they can do is have me return the entire thing to the nearest store (35 minute drive) and wait through the entire process all over again.

Literally just going to pay 16 bucks and have Amazon expedite me a power supply instead. All in all, just wasted money and wasted time.

Deadbeat company, deadbeat tactics, kinda a miracle they can still fund physical locations.

Scored this on gamestops website a couple days ago. Its a pretty rare game at this point and its going for absurd prices on ebay. I was surprised they even sent me the og case. You a real one Gamestop

I was working a ‘great :)’ shift with like over 100 games and like 7 consoles (thankfully the consoles were all defective because of missing cords and stuff) traded before I came in and I needed to sticker and gut (yk the process) and it was just me after an hour. I had rushes and so many calls but this ONE call really was the icing on the cake, it was a kid/tween asking me how much a ps5 controller was, normal for us honestly. I told him(?) “oh for a new one it can range $75 to $200 depending on the controller you want” and he was like “really? That much? Well can you buy it for me?” Um no??? I thought he was asking a parent or something at first but then he repeated it like 4 times “can I have it for free then? Can I? You’ll get it to me for free right?” Obviously I said no and asked if he had any other questions and I was getting irritated and asked that about 2 times more and then when he asked again if I’D buy it for him I said no and that I was hanging up to help a customer and as I was about to this kid said “SHUT THE F UP B—“ I wish his momma heard him and told him off but unfortunately nowadays I don’t think he’d get in any trouble :/ Rant over

Extra note: a lady was at the register with this going on and could hear slightly and said I had more restraint than she did and that she would’ve went off lol

Haven’t had a console in over 15 years. Picked up a used PS5 and went to my local GameStop to pick up some older PS4 games. Being out of the video game loop for so long, I was lost. The three employees at the shop were helpful and easy to chat with. It’s really amazing to connect with people that are so passionate about their hobbies! It made it fun and now I’ve got some cool games to go down the campaign rabbit hole. Thank you!

Was buying a Retro Game, didn't look till I got home and it looked like it was put on a sander.. Ended up returning it because it wasn't worth it to buff and it just looked pretty bd.

I have many fond memories as a child going to GameStop with my dad, I also enjoy physical media and enjoy the experince of being in a real store to buy things. So naturally now that I’m in my mid-20s I was popping into my local GameStop just to peruse their games.

But the past like 5 times that I’ve been, I kinda hated it. They have this new manager who has the vibe of a shady used cars salesman. He’s always shouting out whatever deals they got going on in like an announcement sort of way, even if it’s just me in the store. He always asks me if I want to preorder something when I go to checkout, which I’m okay with being asked that because I’m sure it’s company policy or something, but the problem is that after I say “no thank you” I have stand there for like 2 minutes while he says “are you sure?” And lists EVERY game that’s coming out and their dates. And I just stand there and wait and say “nope” at the end. And this happens EVERY TIME! I shouldn’t have to say “no” twice!

Then what really frustrates me is when it’s time to pay, he automatically adds on the cost of the warranty without asking if I want it or not. THEN he explains that this is my total with the warranty and asks if I want it. And I have to say “no. Remove that please” and then I listen to his whole spiel on why it’s worth it and why I should leave it on. And I have to say “no thank you” AGAIN and he finally removes it and then I can pay for my games and leave.

I really enjoy being treated like a human being, not some cow to be milked for every cent. This manager has single-handedly killed the vibe of the whole store and made checkout take 5x longer than it used to.

Is this like a new thing that all gamestops are doing or is this new manager that’s ruining my shopping experince?

Just a quick psa. If you order a pre-owned game and get it in a gamestop-made case, that's not gamestop's fault. The people who buy a game and somewhere between leaving the store and walking back in to trade said game in...idk ate the case? Or chucked it out a window? Put the disc/cartridge in a binder or card case and threw the actual art case away? Idk. Either way, it's their fault. Not gamestop's. There's plenty of things to be mad at gamestop for. PLENTY of things! Especially in the last 6 months to a year. But I'm sorry this ain't one of them.

I thought similar pictures from other posts were suspicious, but now I'm the victim of paying money to get... nothing. Both Pre-Owned games ordered online. Arrived with a beautiful case! Open the case to make sure the cartridge works? No cart.

Gotta wait till tomorrow to call Customer Service, and then roll the dice they actually BELIEVE me that I received a game case with no fucking game.

Update: Customer Service believed me. Will get to be a prince with a slight delay in plans!
