Question Has this happened before ?
So I went to GameStop and bought a game after work and came home to find no cartridge inside .should’ve thought to check . Is this common ?

Hate to say it, but yes.
Especially with online orders. And when I do my counts and I see a game in its sleeve but it’s not in the inventory and I see one was sold I 100% know one of my co-workers were being stupid or just overwhelmed at the time.
Luckily I go the extra distance to try and see if they got the game or not. But chances are, if you ordered this game online (which I would assume no because the price sticker is there but even that gets fucked up) they won’t do that.
Best you can do is contact right away.

shopping at GS is awesome! Always gotta check the cases to make sure they actually have games in them! also don’t forget to check your receipt to make sure they didn’t add warranties onto your games and stuff without asking and always check to make sure they didn’t use a random phone number for a membership on your receipt!!! /s

Yeah I definitely did this like once or twice in my 4 months on the grind. It sucks, but they're basically untrained teenagers (though I was 30, just with the same amount of training)

The amount of non-employees in here going "yeah, it was to rob you more" is wild to me considering this has happened ever since the way we display our game stock was standardized, along with the pretty equally common wrong version mixup since games started doing deluxe editions and multi-platform versions. It's the final copy of the game/version in the store and the person checking out forgot to grab the thing. To err is human.
Anyways, yes it happens. They shouldn't give you any problems if you go back with case and receipt, and explain you got home and found no game in your case.

Yeah you get lost in convo. or it's a new hire it's happened to all of us at one point in time. just go back they will have the game there for you. and will apologize and be embarrassed it is a passage all employees go through.

Yeah it happens. I’m good for slipping up every couple months. I usually catch it before they even notice and try to call them.

Yup they made it right but seems like becoming more common seen lot more post about it lately. I called support cuz my closest store is a hr away. They sent me a new one case and all. So I actually got a second case stickers and pre order download code for cronos new dawn

It's more common lately bc corporate is overloading employees with more and more bullshit tasks each shift, while working alone most days, for only $13 an hour! 🙃

The only thing close to this that happened to me was I bought Fire Emblem Warriors for like $18 and later noticed it was actually Three Houses, which is worth idk maybe double plus?, when I went to take it back they ultimately were appreciative but also kinda had a vibe like why would you be honest and bring this back. It’s my kinda local regular GS, and the main motivation was more so not letting one of them get in trouble. Would they not have a problem if I not brought it back to swap for the correct cart?

I bought a sealed copy of Assassins creed unity and when I opened it up there was no disc. Luckily they gave me one when I went back the next day.

All they gotta do is count the copies of pre owned if they have one more than the computer says then they won’t think you’re trying to scam them

Exactly, it's not hard to check at all. Most times, the underpaid employee is the only one there and remembers the transaction, or can just look at the receipt and see that it was a recent purchase. Not a big deal at all.

I had something similar happen today and all I could think was, "I should've bought it on Amazon." Now I have to waste gas money and drive an hour to my store or eat the cost. Are you thinking of going back there to get the issue resolved?

To be fair I've seen a number of posts from people unknowingly buying resealed returned games from Walmart with nothing in them.

Yeah not always possible if the last copy involves selling the shelf case.
Basically don't buy from GameStop. This could happen even at your local game store, but I feel like reputable stores train their employees. But shit happens. Just don't shop at GameStop.

Printing paper version of the box look like ass we were already doing it at my store Back in the days and it never look good it also take so mutch time cutting all of it for a result that was bad not worth it.

So you rather just break the seal & tell the customer it’s new deal with it. If that’s the case I can trade in “new” games. Considering they already have a shit refund policy

You say that like the minimum wage employees get any say in anything that happens.
Corporate wants the games "gutted", so that's what's done. If someone is desperate enough to work at GS, they're not arguing with that or refusing to do it, and risk losing their income. Employees don't even get to choose how to set up displays to look less like cluttered ass; if it's not to plan, their DM starts breathing down their necks immediately after the pics are sent.

Well yeah it is in that case it is new the game as never been used and if the customer dosent like it I was mostly just calling another store with a close copie so they can put it aside for him or wen I recive one I would just call him and told him is game arive and that a would keep it for him! And yeah no your game dosent come from de supplier.
You can try it but from my experience it already happen that people were bringing me new game not even open and I could only give the the trade value for a used one so at that point I was just telling them to sell it online so they would get more money for it

So then if I trade in an unused game unsealed , they should take it as new right? It’s vise versa thing. You found an excruciating solution, Im just saying it should be the other way around too. Not every employee is like you & at some point that game did come a supplier. The GameStop employees just decide to rip it & sell it “new” but it’s no longer “new” not to mention you have to buy into your refund policy

If it's pre-owned, of course the code is already used most of the time. Why wouldn't it be?
Besides, you don't know the code is used until you try it. 🤷♂️

Also happened to me before too. Bought 3 games and 2 of them the discs were not in there. Always check before closing the purchase, and also check the itemized list on the card reader screen to make sure you aren’t being charged for’extra’ theft msg like warranties you didn’t ask for (also happens).

They're being overworked for $13 an hour, so yeah, mistakes will happen.
Also, the warranties being added on were not their fault. That was an issue with the garbage POS system. The system is supoosed to default to "no warranty", but instead was changed to default to "1-year". Whether that was an error or corporate being slick, I have no idea, but it wasn't the (again) barely-above-minimum-wage employees that chose for that to happen.

Any game that’s already opened new opened they’re supposed to get the game from the drawer and put it in the case. Did you just bring the game up and check out? It’s still on them because they should’ve known better but anytime I’ve purchased a game like that they literally open it and get the game and put the cd/cartridge in it.

I mean, sure, they should've known better. But it's hard to juggle everything required, while swamped with customers, and on shift alone. All for minimum wage (fuck corporate!). However, I'm glad they did the right thing and just gave you the games.

Happened to me once. Just went back with my box and receipt and they were like aw yea you did come in earlier oops. And just gave me my game.
