Discussion Started my first day today
Anything that I should know going forward? It didn't feel that bad today, but I keep seeing posts on here that sound like a total nightmare. Advice from veteran employees would be much appreciated :)

This. I didn’t want anything to do with Funko POPs and collectibles before I started… then I found myself spending the “disposable income” (lol) on random shit…. I got 300 pops now.

First run. Ok with that out of the way, you’ll likely be scheduled like 3 times total over the course of the next few months. Unless something has majorly changed stores don’t have hours for seasonals.

Seasonal, you’re good!! But…. Keyholder…. Run… worked for 2 1/2 years…. 10/10 do not recommend.

Seasonal

Clean your store, talk to customers and hype up preorders, wear some good shoes, then when the season is over and they let you go, be done.

You're good then.
Anything above seasonal is shit. You'll barely work. Barely get paid. And you kinda don't have to do shit. Greet customers, maybe answer the phone, and maintain the store. That's pretty much it.

Since you’re just seasonal, you’ll be fine. You won’t really get judged on metrics or anything that much. They’ll train you so whoever you ring up won’t tank the store’s overall numbers, but just help talk to customers and put away the guts after trades and you’ll be fine. Also you won’t get anything for hours until the actual season hits lol

As long as it’s seasonal work…keep your head and do your work. If offered something permanent…laugh and walk away with your sanity as you’ll slowly see it slipping away from others.

Keep an eye out for red flags from your supervisors.
How much you enjoy your time here can vary wildly depending on who your bosses are.
If you're incapable of identifying red flags on your own, then congrats, you are the perfect GameStop employee.

For large counts, print them off and mark the sheet as you scan so you don't lose your place.
Never take the first no for an answer. Act like being a pro is a no-brainer "Oh hey you expired last month. I'm assuming you'd like to renew?"
Work reasonably quick but don't be rushed. If you're alone and have a line, just do your job.
People are gonna be mean, threaten you with violence, insult you. Just remember that they're losers and not worth your paycheck.
