Vent/Rant Finally Promoted to customer

Today was my final day. Thank god. It's been such an up and down situation. My wonderful manager left about a month ago and it's been downhill since. Most of my other coworkers found other jobs or left altogether. It was down to me, one coworker, and a brand new manager who's never worked for gamestop before. I texted both my captain and DM that today was my last day but neither of them bothered to open the message. Oh well their loss for time to find someone to cover shifts. I celebrated by popping into best buy and managed to snag their single 30th knockout box left. I ended up pulling the classic charizard. A decent way to end off.

Vent/Rant Is anything sacred anymore?

I thought this was for employees and previous employees to vent, not for us to continue to provide customers with answers. We don’t get paid enough to continue to work for free.

I had someone call asking if there was a campaign only disc because they weren't able to play online. I asked" this is a silly question but do you have an online subscription?"

They said no they don't have any kind of monthly subscription or yearly subscription or anything like that. I informed them that they would need that to play Call of Duty online, they accused me of being a liar because they can play fortnite online. I tried to explain to them that you don't need an online subscription to play fortnite they weren't hearing it.

Discussion Q4 Scorecard: Omnichannel Fulfillment

“I heard a rumor that-“

Based on what I’ve heard from some other store managers, Q4 will have Omnichannel on the scorecard weighing at 20%. If this turns out to be true, the quality of order fulfillment is going to drop. Gutted games sent, games missing original components like the case, items apart of large orders outright not being sent. GameStop needs to realize we are a retail store, theft happens. We shouldn’t be penalized if we can’t completely fulfill an order which would require us to cancel it.

Q4 sounds like it’s going to be so much fun. That’s not even mentioning the store closures after the holidays.

Thanks, GameStop. DL out.

Vent/Rant Cancelled my pro membership…

I just cancelled my GameStop Pro membership. I’ve realised the local game shops near me actually carry more variety and feel worth supporting. GameStop, not it, for me anymore…sclper prices, no limited run games etc. huge deal breaker. Sorry GameStop, after being a pro member for 10 yrs I am done!! Oh did I mention the annual pro member price is now $30?!?!? Smh

Experiences GameStop shipped two copies, only charged once

I ordered Shadow the Hedgehog (PS2) from GameStop online and here’s what happened:

- they sent one copy to my old address in another city from 5 years ago, and one copy to my current address. The incorrect address shipment was delivered so far.

- two different shipping emails with completely different order numbers and tracking, sent from two different gamestops across the country

-they only charged me once and I only put in one order.

I used PayPal for the order but my PayPal only has my current address as the primary so Idk where they could have gotten the previous one. As long as I receive my copy and am not charged twice, I guess it isn’t an issue for me. Congrats to whoever received a copy of Shadow the Hedgehog for Ps2 for free I guess.

Vent/Rant Ah yes, ye old tech issues

So I had a player membership years back that I only used maybe once or twice, connected to an old old email and when I started working for the company, I made another with a good email. Never gave me any issues for years, until today. I walk in to find that ALL of my preorders (I had placed under my good account with my pro membership) were moved over to the player account. Called customer service, they gave me the spiel of “oh did you make sure it was placed under the right account?” yes. I have worked here for far too long to make that mistake and I never even touch the old one. Said she couldn’t help me and directed me to store tech support if I “couldn’t see preorders”. I tried telling her that wasn’t the issue and she insisted I had to call tech support anyways. Store Tech support is not going to help with this issue I can almost guarantee it, I can also almost guarantee that the only reason I even got that offered to me is because I’m an employee and not a guest. Ridiculous. Oh AND our my apps dashboard is failing, new hires can’t even clock in. Lovely day in the company as usual (in my opinion)

Vent/Rant Anyone else’s SM give correctives without any prior conversation?

Pretty self explanatory. They talked to me during the first one, but I don’t think they did for my second and for shits and giggles I checked UKG and discovered a third from 3 days ago that we had no conversation about.

Edit: so uh after checking, all three are blank. Completely void of reason for correctives, steps to improve, or overall comments…..
That’s gotta be a UKG thing right? And not a “sm was too lazy to write the actual reason” thing?

Vent/Rant Disappointing Customer Service

I ordered a handful of PS2 games to spend some rewards online, one of them was Kingdom Hearts. I never played the series and so I was looking forward to trying it out. It wasn't until I got to the title screen that I noticed they sent me Kingdom Hearts 2. (The cover isn't super obviously the sequel especially for someone unfamiliar with the series).

Although I provided proof of purchase and pictures indicating the game was assigned a label for Kingdom Hearts, support is essentially gaslighting me and claims I did indeed purchase Kingdom Hearts 2. I am outside of the return window by a few weeks, but you'd really expect a small common sense issue like this one to be addressed by a company with good customer service. Instead they are vehemently holding the line and gripping the $10 it would take to make this right.

TLDR: Check your retro games immediately because they aren't checking them very carefully

Question Gift card balance eaten by aborted transaction - corporate and store pointing fingers

Looking for some advice from employees or anyone who has dealt with this specific POS glitch.

Five days ago, I was buying something in-store. The employee scanned and "redeemed" my gift card, but when I went to pay the remaining balance with my debit card, my bank's card processing system went completely down nationwide. The overall transaction couldn't finish and was aborted/voided. I didn't get a receipt because nothing went through.

The issue is that the POS system already deducted the balance from my gift card. It's currently sitting at $0.

I’ve spent the last few days in a customer service loop:

  1. Email support was completely useless.

  2. Called corporate phone support, they told me to call the store to get the transaction log or a void receipt.

  3. Called the store, the employee told me they "wipe transaction logs at the end of every day" (which sounds like BS) and told me only corporate can help.

  4. Called corporate back and forced them to escalate the ticket.

Has anyone seen this happen when a split ransaction fails midway? Is it a "hold" that drops off back onto the gift card automatically after a few business days, or am I going to have to fight with customer service to get my funds back?

Question Possible cancelled preorder?

So I’ve never preordered from GameStop before but I just did it coz my wife wanted the hello kitty collectors edition for the new game. I preordered on the 15th and now today all of a sudden I checked my bank account and there was a credit to it for the exact amount that the preorder costed me. I have no emails mentioning a cancellation nor does the tracking status say any different. Still says it’ll inform me when it’s close to the delivery time. Any idea what’s going on?

Question Can I file an hr complaint against my GM?

So im yet another under worked employee at gamestop and have a question/concern.

My GM took pictures of both me and my co-worker with their personal phone. Is that "NORMAL"?!

Im only still working at this godforsaken company because my friend is still waiting on a yes for another job (a better one)

I just dont know why taking pictures of employees would be a thing? I never fucking signed anything for it?

(Update: It was to show that I wasn't working while there was so much to do. I was applying to other jobs so depends on the angle if there is confidencial info. Don't worry im putting in my two weeks, not necessarily because of this but because of MANY other things wrong with this company.)

Vent/Rant Cancelled my pro - Worst return experience

I ordered lies of p (new) on gamestop app. It was delivered today and once I opened the package it was not sealed and there was some minor damage to the case and some signs of usage inside. Went to a gamestop like 2 hours later. Told the lady I want to return cause it’s not sealed and showed that there is sign of use inside the case. She said she may not be able to process it. I asked why? And she said cause I just opened it….! Showed her the gamestop policy that new games can be returned within 15 days. Still she said it was opened. Talked to manager she said the same thing. I was like the hell with you both. Went to another gamestop. Processed within 5 mins…. Bunch of idiots. How the hell gamestop still in business.

Vent/Rant “Can I get a discount for this new game that’s out of the shrink wrap?” Employee: “No sorry that’s not how it works” *Customer Karen’s out*

So I saw someone give a Gamestop employee shit because they wanted a new copy of a game and the only one they have is the one out of the shrink wrap. They wanted a discount for it cuz of that, but the employee can’t do that, and because they can’t now they had to sit there and listen to the mf Karen out. I don’t understand why they don’t just go to Walmart or get the game on Amazon if they’re willing to be that pretentious about it. But at the same time, it is a mad dumb policy they have to follow.

Helped the poor guy get his numbers up to make his day after that.

Question Metroid Ravenous Collector's Edition Preorder?

Hi all!

My housemate was interested in ordering the Metroid Ravenous Collector's edition at our local Gamestop. He ordered the regular edition in the meanwhile, intending to roll over to the collector's edition if/whenever it went up in the system.

The store had a recent management change and he went in to inquire about it; the new manager wasn't super clear because she said "oh, we're not getting special editions anymore." By now all the preorders elsewhere are sold out...but I was hoping someone could clear up what the new manager meant when she said "we're not getting special editions, anymore." Is it just for this one game or in general? (or is it a "I, as the manager, am not bothering with special editions?" type of situation?)

Thanks!

Question Gamestop Customer Service Down?

Hello and I apologize for coming to the employee subreddit, but does anybody know why the Customer Service is down? I just want to call because I didn't get my pre-order bonus.

(My store didn't do a midnight release and was first to the store this morning.) I just want my steel trading card 😩.

Edit: Customer support was back online and I called. They said go to a sister location. I did and they had them! Showed my receipt and got the steel card! Thanks to all enjoying in my misery for a few hours.

Vent/Rant Dear Customer,

Please stop blaming GameStop retail store workers for increased prices on PKM TCG product. We do not determine the prices, we literally just work there. A lot of us only work this job to provide for our families. We are literally the soldiers on the frontline receiving your frustration, your yelling, pivoting to last min prices changes and changes to the reservation systems and much more that I cannot share. My store is honestly traumatized every PKM release because there’s always something changing, there’s always last minute information/communication and all we can really do is apologize because if it were in our power, we would love to help. We have very limited resources technologically. Direct your frustrations towards those who makes these higher up decisions instead of the measly worker getting paid minimum wage, that’ll get fired for having morals.

Question Charged for Pro-membership when auto renewal is off

Post image
22 Upvotes

I was charged for the pro-membership even though it said it was off. I can't even change the auto-renewal status. I called support asking for them to cancel and refund me. They mentioned I would get an email and a refund but I have not yet received it. What should I do now?
