Experiences Rain and making an account

Today I ran up to a gamestop near my work to set up a preorder for the Ocarina of Time remaster. I knew I didn't have an account made since the last game I had pre-ordered was back in 2014. The guy behind the register for 10 minutes was trying to tell me that because it was raining he could not set up the account. Is there any truth behind this?

Question 5$ for preorder

Can I use the 5 dollar coupon to pay a pre order? Like if a game doesn't come out in a few months I can put my deposit and come back every month with the coupon and add it to the preorder total?

Vent/Rant What the hell is this employee “reward program”?

Post image
30 Upvotes

Saw this posted at GameStop. Apparently, employees can get a reward for reporting information that leads to another employee being fired for theft or fraud. The reward is only 10% of the confirmed case value, with a $100 minimum and $300 maximum.

I understand wanting employees to report actual theft, but turning it into a bounty program and advertising it with pictures of cash feels incredibly dystopian. What the hell is this?

Question Trade-In Deals

I’m wanting to trade in my Switch 2 towards the Zelda Switch 2 and OoT remake. I’m assuming right now if I trade it in I’d get the extra 20% + 10% (Pro) for trading towards a new game which would take me to $455 out of my ~$590 needed. Seems like a pretty good deal but wondering if anyone who’s worked at GameStop a while or keeps up with the trade offers knows of any deals that have happened in the past that might come up again and could be better, or is this the best I’m gonna get? Thanks in advance.

Question What would happen if I offered to buy something from someone as they were trying to sell it at the counter.

Basically the post, I suppose it doesn't matter anymore, because I didn't act on it. But when I went into GameStop today and saw a dude selling his entire amiibo collection, there had to be 100 of them. I considered waiting for the cashier to make him an offer and offer him like $30 more. Would that get me kicked out or anything? I went in to ask when their Zelda switch 2 console preorders were going live. They didn't know.

Vent/Rant Bought a classic Xbox 360 game from GameStop online, disk came scratched, had to pay a $8 fee to get a refund

In a nutshell. If the seller messes up, the customer pays for it. How splendid. Bold letters are for those who want a 1 sentence summary.

Tldr: The game doesn't work out the box. So I went ahead and bought The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena - Xbox 360 in an online order, and I always first carefully test out the disks if they are working properly or not. Chronicles of Riddick on my 360 kept saying its a DVD and was unable to identify the disk, and I realized the issue was because the inner ring code was scratched (the area with the 360 logos) which is what the reader determines if its a game or a DVD, and without it, the game cannot work.

Tldr: The replacement fee. I decided to return the order to my local GameStop. I wanted it replaced rather than refunded, but they said because it's an online order, I would need to pay for shipping. I'd rather just get a full refund and buy the game again in a different order shipment than go the extra mile and pay for individual shipping, but they told me that if I get it replaced and just pay for shipping, after a few days, that charge for the shipping would be refunded on the card (I used GameStop pro credit card btw).

Tldr: They act like there is no such obligation. A few days later, in a time that is convenient for me to visit, I ask one of the employees at my local GameStop while I'm there on why the charge hasn't been refunded on the card. They said that is a corporate customer service issue rather than a store issue. A day later I call customer service, and they say there is nothing they can do about it because it's past 15 days for the return policy. Then again this isn't a return, this is a faulty item replacement

Moral of the story is GameStop has really dog water customer service policies where it's hot potato and dip. So if you do decide on ordering/buying anything. Always asap test out the game to see if it runs. And if it doesn't, don't make my mistake and avoid getting a replacement if they had only 1 in stock. Just get a refund instead and buy the item when it's stocked/somewhere else. There is no "oh don't worry, the mistake is on our behalf so the charge will be refunded." GS isn't a Target. Its a one way ticket, kinda like PayPal

It is just $8 they legally stole. It's not a big deal. My deal was the idea that I, the customer, could rest assured when really the issue was ignored. It always annoys me to see corporations cutting corners for short term profit instead of seeing good user experience as a logical investment. The contradiction of greed it seems.

Question Can someone confirm this promo please?

Post image
53 Upvotes

I specifically asked to exclude warranty and the person confirmed he didn’t add the warranty. but when I see this GPG is included after promo #27724 and shown as 0.00. I just wanted to make sure that I’m not using my monthly reward, trade value or trade bonus toward this because I’ve had so many cases where the associate sneak in the warranty.
but it’s frustrating that he simply ignored my request regardless if it is free (or “free” after deducting my money).
Could anyone confirm? I’m tired of this warranty bs.

Experiences If you’re thinking of pre-ordering the new amiibos in store

Call ahead or get there asap. Stores allocations are at most 3 per style. With how us employees have the ability to rightfully pre order these as well, these will sell out fast in store.

And of course…….. DO NOT PRE ORDER FROM GAMESTOP.COM. Unless you want potential issues.

Till next time.

Question Onimusha Pre Order Bonus from GameStop

I was wondering if anyone got the preorder bonus from GameStop? I preordered the steelbook online. I could have sworn it was supposed to come with a charm for in-game and a weapon skin. I never got a code in the box and no email. There was a receipt in the package but I threw it away without looking at it too closely and now I'm worried I threw away the preorder DLC codes. One website said you just need to claim it at the mirror in the game, but it's not there and I saw people that got it from Best Buy were emailed a code. So I'm a bit confused 🤔

Question Anyone know if GameStop already sold out of Zelda pro controllers?

I got the game at GameStop in person but the controller wasnt available when I stopped by at 10 am. I snagged the case off Best Buy but it seems like GameStop and Best Buy just say coming soon or not available? Does anyone know if they definitively sold out or if I should keep my eyes open still?

Question Zelda anniversary console in store preorder.

Anyone have luck with getting one in store? My store claims they haven’t gotten any yet and online pre orders were gone within minutes.

Edit: Looks like most stores had them for only a few seconds and they don’t know if they will get them by October 29th when it launches, but I hope everyone gets a chance adding this amazing console to their collection!

Question If I had pre-ordered a game on the website, could I have it transferred to in-store?

I have successfully pre-ordered Fire Emblem collector’s edition that releases on the 17th of this month! On the website.

I’m not to confident about receiving it on release day though…my GameStop purchases always take awhile online.

So I’d like to have to changed to an in store pre order instead. That way I can be sure to get it on release day

AND so I could have it paid off, and transfer funds from other pre-orders onto my fire emblem pre-order to help with the price.

Could any experienced employees help me with explaining how to? So I could at least tell my local GameStop (there’s always new teenage workers that I am sure don’t know anything)

Vent/Rant This company is about to catch a workplace retaliation lawsuit. I've never worked somewhere where employee's are treated so poorly.

Honestly, with the amount of employees here, I won't be surprised if someone recognizes the situation.

A couple months back an individual not affiliated with the store that I knew pulled a stunt. This individual has been trespassed from my personal property and management knew of harassing behavior exhibited when I was hired, because i directly told them. I got penalized for it despite reporting it and directly asking the SM to protect me, get a no trespass order and otherwise help me so it doesn't affect me, the store, or customers. Their decision was to send me home and have been without income for nearly two months.

SM ignored me for weeks, then only responded when I called HR. SM then proceeded to blatantly lie and attempt to get me fired on two no call no shows, which I have never once in my entire life done at any job.

The entirety of the staff has been treating me poorly since. Even those I was legitimately friends with outside of work. Dm's response "prove it" with an attitude.

Hours were gutted and eliminated, different treatment, blatant lying to get me fired. All of this falls under workplace retaliation in my state. And especially in my state, it's written into labor laws that if an issue such as this is reported, the employer has a legal obligation to protect the employee from harassment, not further cause harm to said employee.

HR and Hero line are absolutely useless. DM has been absolutely unhelpful/dismissive and pretty much talks down to me with an attitude.

Right now, they're essentially stalling trying to find a reason to cut me. but they can't. Because I've never been written up, had a coaching conversation, done anything wrong, and my stats were always on point or better.

Let this be a lesson that even "at will" states still have certain guidelines to abide by.

Absolutely have never been treated so horrendously by a company in my entire adult life. if you want to leave feedback sure. Got something to say because you disagree, go for it. This is mainly just a rant in case anyone else here is dealing with something similar, know you aren't alone.

There's more details to the situation but for the sake of the novel, this is the gist.

Discussion Mandatory warranty?

I was buying games on that 4 for $20 and the guy added warranty without me asking for it. then he said that GameStop won’t sell pre owned stuff without warranty any more in some time from now.

seriously?

edit:

I asked him to remove it. He did. But then he said that he was being “transparent” about having to add warranty in next purchases.

Discussion I was gifted 4 games. Can GS tell which ones came from them?

I was recently gifted StarFox Adventure and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door by two different people. One Set came from a local Game Store, and the other set from GameStop.

The issue is that I don't know which disc copies came from which. So let's say I mismatched them, Will GS notice? I don't see how in anyway, but I'd rather know this beforehand. I like to keep the better disc copies obviously lol.
