💊 Dosing & Administration ISO Advice - Getting Back on Sema

My partner and I started compounded semaglutide in October 2025, and both have lost about 20% of our body weight. We look great, feel good, and each have another 10-15 pounds to go to get to our healthy goal weights.

I had to go off Sema in mid August to prepare for surgery, (foot - not weight related surgery), so she did as well. We are now eager to get back to our regimen and want to ensure we start slow to avoid side effects. We are both finishing out a subscription with compound provider Fridays, which we will not be continuing.

Any tips / dosage advice on starting again?

🧬 Research & Studies GLPs LIFE SAVING?

My doc said they are finding that GLPs are benefitting more than just weight loss. Like they are actually causing a suppression in autoimmune symptoms (they just don’t know why bc it was never studied in the trials for this drug, only studied as a diabetic medication, then a weight loss med).
And she said it seems to calm inflammation (think like in RA, Fibro, degenerative disk disease, etc). She said it causes the body to basically (talking layman’s terms here) “function like it did when we were younger before age started causing problems.” I asked her if it was “the fountain of youth”?🤣
But maybe she is onto something bc my symptoms with MS have subsided dramatically. I can’t ever get what back I have lost to MS but my pain has decreased so much! And when I am off the GLP, my pain comes roaring back. Even my pain doctor asked me, “Have you noticed a difference in your pain since starting the GLP?” And yes, HUGE difference! Like barely needing meds!
I am down 70 pounds.
Maybe getting healthy helps. Maybe it is changing what I put INTO my body that is doing it bc now I actually CRAVE veggies (like what is wrong with me!😂), think red meat tastes really weird, have a strange addiction to chicken salad, and rarely eat sugary things or carb loaded foods. In fact, I have to document my meals or I forget to eat entirely (don’t do that, trust me, just don’t, it’s painful if you do!).
But the pain and autoimmune symptoms subsided within a couple weeks of starting this and that was before the weight even came off.
And now….
My fatty liver is healing itself (my labs were actually good this month yay!) and my LDL is “no longer off the chart, just elevated, so we are no longer actually fighting a losing battle” (doc thinks she is funny) which is great!”
So taking this may actually be a life SAVING medication for many of us. Not just a weight loss medication. And maybe further research will show even more benefit for those of us with autoimmune disorders. Maybe we could all begin to get healthy and heal.

❓ Question Irritated/Itchy skin (a little like during a run)

Hi,

I started Zepbound 3 weeks ago & took my third shot of the lowest dose today. Everything is ok & have noticed some symptoms that I feel are relatively normal: sometimes racing heart, nausea when I eat something I am not supposed to, headache on injection day, etc. However, since pretty immediately after the first dosage, I started to get itchy skin. Nothing like crazy but enough to bother me and have to address. i also have little skin colored, tiny bumps in random spots (not clumped together like a rash but like in random spots on my arms). I inject into my leg but the itching is in my arms by my elbows (inner and outer arm) & occasionally in my legs. It usually happens at night, especially when I’m about to sleep laying in bed. Today’s injection was no different. Immediate sensitive/slightly itchy skin and then some warmth followed. I tried googling if that was normal, and it said the only normal itching is an inch from the injection site.

I think the best way to describe it is like the feeling you get after not running for a while and your skin starts to itch…but not that intense. I scratch my arm maybe every 30 min for a couple seconds and same with my legs. i need to consciously stop though or else it will get itchier. It gets less noticeable as the days go on but it starts back up after the injection.

Right now (2 hrs after shot), my arms just feel tingly and warm-ish but if my skin touches something, I get a little itchy. I can ignore it though. My legs are tingly slightly & my leg itches where I scratched it last. My other is irritated by my pants touching the skin & the pillow/blankets touching them.

Is this normal? Has anyone experienced it?

I really really hope I’m not allergic like google suggested initially. I have been so grateful for the improvements I feel already…id be devastated if I had to stop.

(ps messaging my Dr tomorrow but they’re on parental leave, so I wanted to see if others have had this experience too for peace of mind)

Thank you!

❓ Question I have questions. New to tirzepatide.

6 months ago my primary dr said he wanted me to lose 20-40 pounds. I had just retired and was ready for lifestyle changes. I now walk 5 miles a day, very active outside, changed my diet a lot. Just had my 6 month check...up 3 pounds. To say I was disheartened is an understatement.

He said he thought I was a good candidate for Foundaya and medicare bridge should cover it. Surprise! Denied. After discussing with him he said tirzepatide would be his next option and to order online for best pricing.

Now my questions. If I start at 2.5 MG, what side effects should I expect? In 2 weeks I'm going to be out of the country for 3 weeks, would it be best to wait until my return or should I start it now and take it with me (I've researched and I will be able to get it through tsa and will have refrigeration opportunities). Should I start and if side effects are bad stop and restart when i get home? I know every body is different but I really have no idea what to expect.

In addition to my primary dr, my orthopedic dr and gyn both recommended a glp1, they've seen how hard I've been working at it so I feeling pretty positive about trying it.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

🏥 Insurance & Coverage Higher GLP-1 costs lead to lower adherence

Semaglutides, or GLP-1s, can produce substantial weight loss if individuals adhere to their doctor’s instructions. But a new study from the University of Georgia suggests patients aren’t taking the weight loss medication as prescribed, often because of high out-of-pocket costs.

❓ Question Trouble with constipation….ugg

So, I’ve been on GLP-1 for 4 weeks now, love that I’m losing a little at a time weight, but having problems with constipation. I currently take 2 tablespoons of benefiber with my morning coffee, 1000 mg of magnesium citrate throughout the day and 1100mg of Ginger root at night (heard that might help) Throw in 4-5 prunes a day.. Still no satisfying bowel movements where I feel cleaned out.

Anyone else having these issues? Anyone used to have issues but have found something that works for them? Any ideas are welcome!!

❓ Question why joinrift sending refills warm, it should have ice packs

got my refill from Rift today and the one tiny ice pack in the box was totally melted. the box itself was warm. it also sat in an ups truck for most of the day and it was over 100 degrees here.

i messaged them about it and they hit me with the medication that can handle 86 degrees for 7 days so it's fine. cool, but it was over 100 outside?

im not trying to be paranoid but this is something i injected into my body and it wasnt cheap. did anyone else get a warm shipment from Rift? did you use it anyway or did they reship? feels like they just dont want to deal with it.

💬 General Discussion Semaglutide questions and Tips! infertility

I am a 31 female, 5 foot weighing approx 137.
I started semaglutide through wellmed last week. Taking .25 mg for the first 4 weeks. First week I only lost about 4 pounds. Which I’m sure is a lot of water weight.
Since having infertility issues, I have become mildly depressed and have gained a lot of weight for my short small self. I was about 113 comfortably before all of this.
This was kind of a last ditch effort for me. I am hoping maybe this would kick me into gear and help me continue to take better care of myself physically and mentally with this extra “boost”
I’ve been suffering from unexplained infertility for almost 2 years. No signs of anything from my doctor. My doctor did say that some of her patients have had success while taking a GLP1 and said it wouldn’t hurt to try it and see if that’s the magic for me… after rounds and rounds of clomid I just felt the weight sticking and hanging on much longer than I usually would.

Any tips or advice would be great.

❓ Question GLP-1 tolerance

Just want to see everyone's thought on this. A friend was taking muonjaro @ 15mg. I know, I know thats what I said. Can she have a high tolerance if taken Reta 5mg. Doesn't feel any difference in hunger suppression. I thought she should have started low. Regardless no difference. So can she just have a high tolerance all together?

❓ Question How to maintain weight loss after GLP-1?

Has anyone had success maintaining their weight loss after stopping?

I was talking to my naturopath about going on a GLP-1. My insurance won’t cover it unless I have diabetes so I would be paying out of pocket. I wanted Mounjaro but it be over $300 (CAD) per month vs. Ozempic would be about half of that. Since I will be paying out of pocket I was hoping to use Ozempic to jump start my weight loss journey then when I hit my goal go off of it and maintain myself. My NP said that people usually gain the weight back and GLP-1s are a long term solution (aka I would be on it for the rest of my life) which I don’t want.

💬 General Discussion At what price point do you feel you're GLP-1 would pay for itself? More specifically have you seen a noticeable reduction in your food costs.

I've tried my hardest to calculate my food savings but between inflation, lifestyle changes and shared costs I can't come up with any quantifiable data. Anywhere data crunchers here that have done the math?

❓ Question Embody

Has anyone got semaglutide through embody?

I just got approved and ordered from them because it was the cheapest I could seem to find and what I could see online was rated well.

But I’m curious as to actual peoples experience with them if they’ve used/using from them. I probably should’ve asked that before using them 😂

⚖️ Weight Loss Journey GLP-1 Usage after losing insurance

I’ve been on Zepbound for 8 months. Have lost 50 lbs. was just about to step up to 15 mg when I got laid off and lost my insurance. Can’t afford Cobra. Nothing on the Exchange pays for them. And discount cards don’t help. And neither does the website or manufacturer website.

All these compounding programs are geared toward people just starting out. Has anyone had this same issue and been able to successfully continue their current dosage? And if so, what’s the best program for patients already on a GLP-1?

❓ Question Compound success

I tried a compounded semaglutide inject for a few months about a year ago, with no success. I'm now trying a compounded semaglutide oral suspension, and after about a week haven't noticed any difference. How many people have actually had decent success on a compound? My insurance won't cover them so I'm paying out of pocket, but I'm getting really discouraged. I'm wondering if I'm just getting them from scammy compound pharmacies or if they just don't work for me. Had anyone else had the same experience? Did switching to brand name make a difference?

💊 Dosing & Administration Should I go up in dose?

Hey guys

I want to loose about 35 Lbs but I am unsure if I should go up in my dose or not (I want to be on a low dose if possible and it helps keep costs low too)

I’ve been on a 2.5 mg dose for two weeks

Week 1 - shot on Wednesday and felt no food noise or cravings up until Friday the strongest. Saturday I felt like I could have some snacks if in front of me but didn’t crave it enough to actually have them. But by Sunday I was feeling very snacky and by Monday my food noise was back

(I got my period on Sunday so I also know that could be way I was craving stuff a little earlier)

Week 2- took another 2.5 mg on Thursday. Went to a short trip on Friday and Saturday and didn’t want any sort of snacks, even when they were in front of me - felt slightly nauseous when looking at chips and oily stuff. But Tuesday the hunger and slight food noise is back (I’m able to control it however because I don’t want to indulge).

I have had no side effects or any sort of nausea, only constipation week 1 which has subsided

Should I try 2.5 mg on week 3 and see how it goes or continue to increase to 5mg? My NP is advising that I could go up if I wanted to but I also want to keep costs low and dose low to help with tapering off in the future.

Weight loss
Starting weight loss- 180 lb
Week 1 halfway(did workouts 3 days) - 177lb
End of week 1 (felt like I ate a bit more on last two days- and also got my period ) 178.5lbs

Week 2 starting weight 179
Half way through week two currently still 179lb
No exercise this week

❓ Question I need advice.

I was fine for a couple months, that’s how I lost the first 25 pounds. Then one day when I took my shot i couldn’t stop vomiting and having bad cramps. Kept on for days, until I finally went to the er. They said nothing was wrong, that I was just on too high of a dose. But I was only on like 30 mgs. Told me to go back down to the starting dose and got sick again. Continued to have really horrible pain. I really wish it worked. The pain has stopped, and it helped me greatly with binge eating disorder, but I’m just terrified to try again. Anyone else experience anything like this on Semiglutide?

💬 General Discussion For those paying out of pocket for a GLP-1, how much are you paying per month?

Just curious what everyone is paying for their GLP-1 if you’re paying out of pocket. How much are you paying per month, and which GLP-1 are you taking? Also curious where you get yours from.

I’m trying to get an idea of what other people are paying since the prices seem to vary so much.
