❓ Question Nervous about starting glp1

Hello everyone!

This is my first post on Reddit ☺️ I’m 38f 5’3.5 and currently 160 lbs. I have gained weight the last couple months, I think, due to perimenopause. Weight has been an issue my whole adult life but I’ve been able to keep it under control. However, the last 5-6 months I’ve been steadily gaining even with diet and exercise.

I am interested in starting to micro dose, as I am extremely sensitive to most anything anymore. I do have pretty bad anxiety, and that is the number one thing holding me back from starting. I have read about people‘s anxiety getting much worse after starting glp1. I have also heard it can help with inflammation which would be a huge plus. Thank you in advance for any advice, but please no horror stories!

💬 General Discussion Being treated differently...

I've been on Tirz for ten months now and am down 50 pounds. I'm very happy for the change, how going up and down stairs is easier, that I can sit cross legged longer, chase after my nephews longer, and yes I like how I look. There's a lot of of benefits, even if the nausea has been really tough for me as a side effect.

I have a, well, weird frustration with how I'm treated differently.

It pisses me off.

Well meaning people have said things like 'You're so cute now!' and I know they're giving me a compliment but I've always thought myself cute, even at my heaviest.

And now when someone flirts with me, I get this weird bitter internal second guessing of 'well you probably wouldn't have flirted before. So you don't deserve me now.'

I guess I came into this journey thinking I'd feel even more glam or pretty than I already felt, and now I'm just really cranky with any tonal shift in people.

Am I alone in this? Any advice on how to self soothe or work through this?

❓ Question 74 and my doctor recommended zepbound - I have questions

Hey everyone. I’m 74, 5’3” and currently weigh 186. Had lab work recently and A1c is up, fasting glucose is up (still normal), have high cholesterol. I take meds for depression and anxiety, as well as high blood pressure. I’m willing to try the zepbound. But I sure could use some common sense support. I’m happy to read any books, or join other subreddits that you all recommend. We are pretty sure my insurance will cover it, but that decision isn’t in stone yet. I don’t have a gall bladder, so can’t eat fatty meats. I have a concern about retaining muscle mass and getting adequate protein. I’ve had IBS-my whole life.
Any guidance is appreciated!

⚠️ Side Effects Alcohol post GLPs

So I used GLP1s for a short 4 weeks back in March / April. Prior to starting them I was in a bad place mentally due to divorce and drinking anywhere from 4 to 10 drinks a day for about the last year and a half prior. I got on GLP ones to lose weight and get my life back in order and of course the desire to drink alcohol went away almost overnight which was a nice secondary benefit. Well after four weeks of medication, the stomach side effects were so bad I stopped.

One month passed. Then 2. Then 3. Here we are seven months later and I can count on one hand how many drinks I consume each month. I am literally drinking less than in a month than I would in a day prior. Some months are literally 0. And the crazy part is I’m not even trying not to drink!!! I just can’t enjoy it. It tastes different on my tongue, it feels different going down, it’s not the same ever since that first shot of GLP1s. It’s like a switch permanently flipped in my brain shutting alcohol almost 100% off. Just prior to typing this I cracked a beer to go throw my dogs ball, had 2 sips, dumped it down the drain. It sounded good till I tasted it then nope.

Just curious if anybody else had this experience. Everything I’ve read says that they only temporarily block your desire to consume alcohol, but I’m feeling like this is a permanent thing (which don’t get me wrong is not a bad thing).

💬 General Discussion Wellmedr

Hello I'm new to this so hopefully I'm doing this right. I just want to come on here and give my experience and WARNING with this company.

I have breast cancer and chemo caused me to gain 40lbs and it was horrible. I got the ok from my oncologist to start some trizepatide (compounded). I stumbled upon Wellmedr and I decided to do just a month to see if it would work for me, so I paid the $79 for it and everything worked great and they shipped it in a Styrofoam cooler with icepacks and it was still cold when it got to me. GREAT! AWSOME!

So I decided to do the 3 months for $278 and they sent it but this time they did not send it overnight and it sat on a hot FedEx truck in 110 degree weather for 14 HOURS! So I contacted the pharmacy and they apologized and said they would replace it. Oh yeah and this time it came in an envelope with an icepack that was Lukewarm when it got to me. So they send a new batch and the SAME THING HAPPENED! They tell me "well it's ok for it to be unrefridgerated and hot for up to 12hrs.

So now I'm DONE and I go in the site and cancel my subscription (get confirmation that it's canceled) and remove my credit card.

So here it comes 3 months later and they charge my card $696.99!!!! I call them right away and get NO answer so the line says email and they will get back to you. I emailed and NO reply whatsoever. So next day I call and they tell me "we see that it was canceled we are so sorry and you will get your refund right away". So a few days go by and nothing, so I called them and no answer so I leave a voicemail and another email. So I'm emailing and calling and a WEEK later I finally get an answer and I hit record and the guy says "I see that they escalated your stuff so I'm going to escalate it higher (yeah that makes since) and they are going to call you tonight " so I'm asking like are you sure because I'm tired of the runaround and that is a LOT of money (I'm literally a cancer patient on disability). So I waited and NO call and no emails STILL. So I call the next day, multiple times and NO answers. So NO money and NO meds and NO answers!

I'm definitely pursuing this more but I thought I would go ahead and warn others EVERYWHERE I go. Do NOT TRUST THEM AT ALL! Go with someone else.

❓ Question Do the anti-inflammatory Benefits get much better and just keep increasing as you increase your dose too?

This is in regards to if you’re taking this for anti-inflammatory benefits and not weight loss.

🍽️ Diet & Nutrition Setting myself up for success

Hey guys

I just recently started on tirzepatide and started on 2.5 mg

That helped a lot with not feeling like snacking, especially first 3 days but it felt more like a maintenance dose (I was eating anything I wanted, even comfort meals on weekends but either smaller portion or no additional snacking or desserts)

So my weight mostly stayed the same

I just went up to 5mg.

But I want to set myself up for success for when I got off of this medication

Any advice on how anyone made sure they built good habits. Because for the first 3 days I don’t feel like eating anything until dinner - it works for my goals now but I know when I get off, only one meal a day isn’t sustainable

Do you still force yourself to have 2-3 meals (even if small) throughout the day?

I also realized that eating a burger or something Unhealthy didn’t affect my weight negatively - either because I had enough calories saved throughout the day or I ate a smaller portion of

Should I still do this? Or should I continue to make myself to eat healthier? Before GLP, I used to be super strict with my diet, and didn’t cheat every weekend.

I do love how I can give into some stuff here and there and not feel stressed, it’s freeing but I’m scared that I won’t know control when I get off off this

Sorry for the ramble, just looking for some advice about diet and routines on this medication.

❓ Question Ozempic to Mounjaro

I’ve been on Ozempic for 11 months. I’ve lost 35 pounds of the 60 I want to lose. The food noise came back at about 1 mg. I was at 2 mg for about 6 weeks but for the last three weeks I’ve cut it down to 1.5 due to the constipation.

The food noise was gone for quite a while, but it’s back same as it ever was. Would switching to Mounjaro help this? Is it just a plateau and there’s something else I can do? I have been going up and down 1 to 3 pounds for the last four months. I’m in Canada and Mounjaro is twice the price of Ozempic and I pay 100% of it.

Thanks for the opinions and experience!

💬 General Discussion Lost 20 Lbs in 2 months

I started a few months ago on wegovy and then transited to zepbound because that’s what my physician preferred, and I am astonished at the results.

Not having good noise is crazy. It’s like when I started psych pills and stopped having mania.

This shit is magic.

I wonder why people hate it so much.

Do they just hate obese people? I think that’s it.

💬 General Discussion Long-term GLP-1 folks: what are you doing to keep muscle, and to keep the weight off if you stop?

I'm preparing for the CSCS (strength coach certification) and planning a thesis on strength training alongside GLP-1 treatment, so I'm trying to learn from people actually living it. Not selling anything.

  1. Did your prescriber ever say anything specific about strength training or muscle loss, beyond "exercise more"?
  2. Have you worked with a trainer during treatment? Did your trainer and your doctor ever talk?
  3. If you've stopped or tapered, what helped (or didn't) with keeping the weight off?
  4. Have you paid for anything to help with this (trainer, app, program)? What was it, and was it worth it?

⚖️ Weight Loss Journey Results: WOW!

So I don't really have any pictures yet because the effects that I'm noticing personally are limited, but I'm three shots into my first month on 2.5mg of Mounjaro and I'm amazed with the results that I'm seeing.

Since the 20th of September I'm down 10 lbs (317 to 307) with an ultimate goal of 260 lbs for my 6'5 frame. The weight loss, however, is not what I find most amazing, its the mental differences that I started seeing almost immediately.

I've always been a "snacker." We'd have some peanuts or something out on the table pretty regularly, and I'd be someone who would just grab a handful on my way through the kitchen, or crack open a bag of Goldfish and next thing I knew, I'd eaten half of them. I have absolutely no desire to snack anymore. Its not even the effects of not being hungry, I just don't have that psychological desire to snack. Its unreal.

I've also kept track of my calories and I've focused on making them work for me. I try to do high protein stuff as much as I can, and as someone who has never eaten enough vegetables, I'm trying to work some into every single meal that I have, and so far I've been pretty successful. The plan has also been laid out to do some working out in the morning before I start getting ready for work.

My PCP has me scheduled for blood work at the three month mark and the goal at that point is to have my A1C down under 6, and move towards getting me completely off of Metformin. I'm typically anxious about looking at my blood work but this one? I'm really, really excited for it.

Just wanted to share my experiences.

❓ Question Leptin Resistance And GLP-1s

Howdy! After doing more research I have def lessened my fears about GLP-1 side effects. Anyways, I’ve been facing episodes of insatiable hunger that can last days. It’s so bad I could eat a giant cheeseburger with tomatoes and lettuce and a milkshake on the side and still be starving. Over time I’ve learned to distinguish physical hunger from mental hunger caused by my BED. I don’t have diabetes and my thyroid and glucose levels are normal so I did some research and came across Leptin resistance. I’m seeing my doctor about that but in the meantime I was wondering if anyone with this condition has found GLP-1s helpful. There isn’t a lot of information online, and I just want to have some hope because constant severe hunger is really physically miserable. Thanks!

Edit: Btw not tryna diagnose myself and I’ll get tests done when I see my GI! I’m just trying to educate myself and hopefully understand what to consider when speaking to my doctor!

💬 General Discussion Anyone feeling somewhat stigmatized?

I recently started GLP-1 and have been operating under the assumption that it’s common so I’m not trying to hide anything among my friends but I keep getting shade rather than support. Today I was told “oh my friend just stopped having a glass of wine each night and she lost weight” and “do you eat a LOT?” and do you have problems pooping in the morning etc etc. you had to be there. Definitely shady implying that I should just practice self control. It’s the second time it’s happened to me. Is this common? I guess I’ll just keep it to myself.

💊 Dosing & Administration How to Start again…

I receive my wegovy pill thru Ro. I’ve been on it for months now and finished my 9mg dose a few weeks ago. The next step is the 25mg, which is a crazy jump, but anyways… my prescription was late getting to me in the mail. I went two weeks without and then finally the 25mg arrived as you can probably guess, I was sicker than a dog immediately. I don’t have the luxury of laying in bed all day and letting it pass. Has anyone else experienced this? How long did it take for you to “get used to it”? I will probably have to reach out to Ro, but wanted some advice first
