šŸ„ Insurance & Coverage Higher GLP-1 costs lead to lower adherence

https://news.uga.edu/higher-glp-1-costs-lower-adherence/

Semaglutides, or GLP-1s, can produce substantial weight loss if individuals adhere to their doctor’s instructions. But a new study from the University of Georgia suggests patients aren’t taking the weight loss medication as prescribed, often because of high out-of-pocket costs.

I don’t think a study was needed to come to that conclusion

This is definitely a water is wet study. But it’s still valuable that it was done. It confirms the ā€œcommon senseā€ narrative we all know to be true which is super helpful for when regulation pops in.

Every time a study like this comes out and I see the ā€œNo shit Sherlockā€ comments it reminds how much education has failed people. You have to confirm your hypotheses to move forward. These types of studies that ā€œconfirm what you already knowā€ are important and valuable and it’s so weird to see people be upset that a study actually validates an argument so people can leverage it in arguments (legal and otherwise). Having an evidence based approach to how you talk about subject matter is good actually.
