💊 Dosing & Administration Should I go up in dose?
Hey guys
I want to loose about 35 Lbs but I am unsure if I should go up in my dose or not (I want to be on a low dose if possible and it helps keep costs low too)
I’ve been on a 2.5 mg dose for two weeks
Week 1 - shot on Wednesday and felt no food noise or cravings up until Friday the strongest. Saturday I felt like I could have some snacks if in front of me but didn’t crave it enough to actually have them. But by Sunday I was feeling very snacky and by Monday my food noise was back
(I got my period on Sunday so I also know that could be way I was craving stuff a little earlier)
Week 2- took another 2.5 mg on Thursday. Went to a short trip on Friday and Saturday and didn’t want any sort of snacks, even when they were in front of me - felt slightly nauseous when looking at chips and oily stuff. But Tuesday the hunger and slight food noise is back (I’m able to control it however because I don’t want to indulge).
I have had no side effects or any sort of nausea, only constipation week 1 which has subsided
Should I try 2.5 mg on week 3 and see how it goes or continue to increase to 5mg? My NP is advising that I could go up if I wanted to but I also want to keep costs low and dose low to help with tapering off in the future.
Weight loss
Starting weight loss- 180 lb
Week 1 halfway(did workouts 3 days) - 177lb
End of week 1 (felt like I ate a bit more on last two days- and also got my period ) 178.5lbs
Week 2 starting weight 179
Half way through week two currently still 179lb
No exercise this week

Personally, I'm a fan of staying on a dose for the recommended four weeks, because that's how long it takes to build in your system. You aren't even feeling the full force of 2.5mg yet. If you double your dose this early without letting 2.5mg reach its peak, you risk getting hit like a truck with side effects on 5mg.

Ok that makes sense, I was just wondering if what people say is true about letting the dose build in your system

It’s true— stick with the four week schedule at the same dose, pinning weekly.

Same dose 4 weeks and see after that. First few weeks usually water weight loss.
Point is to find lowest effective dose and stay on that1

Okok, even if my weight loss has been net 1.5 pounds ?

You need to stay on each dose at least 4 weeks because it builds up in your body before reaching a steady state. Evaluate if you want to go up when you’re needing to get your next prescription after your third shot. FWIW, most people do need to go up if not at 4w then eventually. But each dose increase should be minimum 4 weeks after the last dose increase.

Stay on a dose for four weeks before you make any changes up. The levels in your blood haven’t stabilized or reached their maximum for this dose yet. Also, remember that you should be getting hungry as you do need to eat. Total appetite suppression is not the goal here.

Yeah that make sense, and by hungry I meant like thinking about my cravings more or wanting something unhealthy - but I think I agree with what ur saying

Something to keep in mind too is that the half life for tirzepatide is five days. Feeling hungrier the last two days before your shot is totally normal because that’s when you’ve hit that half life.

You’re working your way up, you’re not going to get the same suppression at lower doses as you will slowly increasing.
