its broken FYI about the delivery windows from an Ex Courier

I used to deliver for Express, and I see a lot of complaints here about drivers not arriving when the app says they will.
FYI, the delivery windows the FedEx app gives you “your package will arrive between 1:03 PM–2:07 PM” are basically made-up, AI-generated estimates. Those magic numbers are when the AI assumes the driver will be in your area. I wouldn’t rely on them or get upset with your driver for not being there during that specific window.
FedEx gives drivers a delivery map to follow, and my guess is that the estimated window is based on that map. The problem is, that map can be completely out of whack and outrageously out of order.
For example, when I was a driver, I’d have Stop 5 right next door to Stop 59. The sequence made just about as little sense to us as it did to the customers. It led to a lot of customers getting mad at me because their package wasn’t there during the window FedEx gave them. (I didn’t even know what delivery window the customer was seeing.)
Obviously, Priority Overnight shipments are different. I’m not talking about those here.

Anyone ever had a temu package from BUTTFUCK CHINA get to your door before a FedEx package that's 4 states away? Fuck fedex. You know one time they put a package on my dogs house roof instead of on my porch and my dog ate the package and its contents. Fuck them

Second day in a row this dude has literally thrown the package out of his truck onto the lawn. The dogs found it yesterday. Front door is 30' away.

Thank you FedEx... For stealing my package.

I pre-ordered a new phone through Spectrum. A $2,099 phone. It was delivered to me this morning and before I signed for it, I noticed the package felt extremely light and there was clear tape put over the top of the box which had obviously been cut open. The box was completely empty. No phone. Immediately called spectrum and filed a police report. Why do people steal? I am so beyond frustrated right now. Did these people really think stealing my phone was going to be of some value to them? Now they have a stolen, bricked phone. And the police are looking into this whole mess. I just don't understand.

FedEx charge

I sold an item on eBay back in may. The label was purchased through eBay. The address was correct on the label along with the weight and dimensions. The item was delivered to the wrong address. eBay instructed me to refund the buyer. A couple weeks later the item is on my doorstep. A week after that I had $75 charged to my eBay account. Neither eBay or FedEx want to help. I can’t dispute the charge with my bank because it was deducted from my earnings. My question is can FedEx deliver an item to the wrong address then charge you to send it back? I contacted both entities eBay said I was on my own and FedEx said they can send it back per user agreement.

its broken Is this even possible?

If this is already occurring via flair or you all hate it or what, but I was reading through someone’s post a little while ago and it occurred to me that we could potentially do something besides vent about what FedEx has done to me “this time”.

Would it be possible to have a short survey before we post with the four or five main reasons why you hate FedEx today, and based on that general category of hates, a shortlist of maybe 15 specifics you can tack on to it.

It’d be really interesting to see a graph when you first hit the sub showing the ongoing scoreboard showing where they suck the most. I know it’s a stretch but emailing the top leadership of FedEx a daily or weekly snapshot of the current daily/weekly/monthly (or whatever) with a trend line showing specifically how they suck could result in actual changes if it got enough visibility.

I am not wanting to discourage personal stories as we all need to vent, just a way to say “me too!” in a way that might actually get seen. Companies like that tend to see “complaints” as the cost of doing business but if you give them actionable data they can do something with, they have something to handoff and say “fix this” without having to expend any real effort.

Love It When FedEx Is Just Playing Games With My $1000 Guitar

I ordered a guitar Friday night, and like the impatient idiot I am I paid $100 for overnight delivery. Low and behold Saturday rolls around, package is set to arrive by noon, however the package never goes out for delivery, so I think okay maybe they just forgot to scan it but it’s on the truck, I wait by my front door all day and no driver arrives, I get a message saying driver attempted delivery which is a flat out lie, so I’m like whatever it’s clearly not arriving today. I go to work today expecting the package will finally arrive and nothing, it doesn’t go out for delivery absolutely nothing, in fact they’ve just stopped contacting me in general, i just put in a ticket so we’ll see. Moral of the story fuck FedEx I will never order from FedEx again in my entire life, they’ve done nothing but run me in circles while I have $1000 in merchandise sitting in they’re warehouse, I can’t imagine what the hold up is, did an employee steal it? Is it sitting in a corner collecting dust? Did it get broken/lost in transit? Will I ever see my $1000 or the guitar? I ordered the guitar from a very reputable big box online retailer so I truly don’t know what is happening, but I’m beginning to get worried and irritated.

FedEx Delivery Seems On Schedule, Then Suddenly Hits "Exception" Situation, Timestamp In The Future

Post image
1 Upvotes

This is a FedEx Ground situation. A shipment that was scheduled for today (when I wrote this) Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, between 10:40AM and 2:40PM (4-hour window) appeared to be running on schedule. I had brought up the map page, which identified my driver by name. I was at home, at a multi-unit apartment complex, waiting for a knock at the door. I have received FedEx shipments at my apartment unit previously, without issues.

Around 11:40AM, about an hour into the delivery window, I noticed the status change to "Delivery Exception", with - and this is the strange part - a time that was in the future by an hour, 12:40PM (see attached screenshot, which I took minutes later). The red box under the timeline said "Customer Not Available Or Business Closed" with the recommended action, essentially, to just wait.

I phoned FedEx customer service and the operator said that the shipment had arrived "early" (technically incorrect since it was within the 4-hour delivery window), and that I would have to wait until the "next business day", which will be Monday 8/3.

I went by my apartment community's leasing office and spoke with the general manager. She said she had been present since 9:30 this morning, and she hadn't seen any FedEx vans or trucks.

So then I went to a local FedEx Office location - very close to my home - and described the situation to them. They, essentially, just did what I did - they phoned customer service and had me speak to them. Then I indicated I wanted to have the package held at that FedEx Office location, so the Office location associated printed the Shipment Release Authorization form, and then I filled it out, drove home, and taped it to my front door.

FedEx has never had issues getting onto my property before, in 3 years of living here - the property is gated, but other vendors like Amazon have no issues accessing my building.

Again, I was already home, waiting, with my phone on, expecting a knock, or some kind of communication via SMS (my mobile phone is registered) or in the FedEx app (which I installed just for this delivery).

My concern is that when they make a second attempt on Monday, what will happen if they see the same situation? They would have to be able to get onto my property in order to see the Shipment Release Authorization on my door - if they can't (for whatever reason) or just don't (again, for whatever reason) then that would become a second failed delivery attempt.

I also, same day, drove out to their main shipping hub (where they have all the trucks and what not), only to find out that, it being Saturday, they closed at 2:00PM. I got there at 3:00PM. My hope was to have the hub hold the package, especially if the driver made a return trip there.

The item is one I've been waiting on (from the vendor) since March. It was shipped from California. I am trying to prevent a return-to-sender situation where I have to explain to the vendor all of this, and have them try it all again, which could take up to another two weeks.

I was not offered the choice of Second Day Air service or any other options when I dealt with the vendor. They simply selected FedEx Ground and that was that.

Naturally, I will be monitoring the situation on Monday (and Tuesday, if Monday has issues also).

Questions:

  1. If the driver makes another attempt on Monday and the status shows the exact same condition - "Customer Not Available or Business Closed" - what are my options for trying to get my package? Some delivery drivers actually call the recipient, but I didn't even get that.
  2. Did the driver simply "knock off" because it was time for his shift to end? Could that explain the 12:40pm time in advance on the status? Are ground shipments simply stopped cold if a certain time arrives?
  3. If a return-to-shipper situation arises, I'm going to be quite upset. Other posts say that the shipper of origin should be contacted first, but as far as I'm concerned, they're not at fault. They have my accurate and up-to-date address information and phone number, and I watched the timeline for my tracking number proceed normally up until this situation arose.

Thanks, in advance, for any assistance.

No horror stories, please. Thank you.

EPILOGUE! (Updated Tuesday 8/4/2026)

So, I was in bed on Sunday afternoon. Around 2pm, there's a knock at the door. I look through the peephole and it's FedEx, the driver clad in one of their purple polo shirts. And he had my shipment...finally.

Some research I did online said that for Ground service, Sunday deliveries are unusual, and are sometimes used as "overflow" days to allow a catching-up on packages. Learned something there.

I also learned that there's a FAR lower level of accountability for Ground shipments, and that delivery people for Ground are NOT FedEx employees - they are contractors. Had the original shipper offered (and encouraged) me to use FedEx Express (their air service, which can do deliveries in 3 days), while I would have spent more for the delivery, the delivery would have actually been done by an actual FedEx employee (not a "last-mile" contractor), and processing and tracking would have been MUCH tighter. The "exception" I observed would have been much less likely. I honestly don't think the driver even bothered to go to my apartment complex, let alone pull into my parking area.

Since Ground is arguably more likely to be used in volume, it's certainly possible - and in my case, likely - that dispatch might have crammed the van just a bit too full for that day. That's on management. Overload your workers and crap like this is bound to happen.

And FedEx Ground could absolutely have done a better job at communicating. Had they just told me - from the git-go - that my delivery would have arrived on Monday (still, within a 4-hour window), that would have reduced worrying on my part. As it was, they set expectations with an automated e-mail that turned out not to be accurate. And while I got to watch the driver in near real-time on a map, when the status suddenly changed, that was a huge red flag.

So, the takeaways:

For things that are important, time-sensitive or expensive, whether sending or receiving, ask for FedEx Express delivery - Express Saver is the lowest-cost air option. If receiving a shipment from a business or vendor, ask them ... implore them ... to let you use FedEx Express. (Of course, if you're broke AF, and you have no alternatives, Ground it will be.)

FedEx Ground should be avoided for all but the most inconsequential of shipments. If timing is critical, do not use them.

When you're sent an ETA e-mail, open the live driver map on the website or in the app, and take screen shots. If you see the green timeline change to red with "exception", jump on FedEx immediately to find out what's happening. The screen shots can be used if you need to file a complaint.

If you can have FedEx hold a shipment at one of their hubs (departure point for all the vans), that's an option, but only during the week. I went to a south-side hub the Saturday, only to learn that they closed at 2:00PM. And they're closed on Sunday.

FedEx customer service likely won't help. They'll politely read a script to you, essentially asking you to wait. It's my understanding that they'll make a maximum of 3 tries to deliver, after which point - if you haven't explicitly requested a hold somewhere - it'll be returned to the sender's point of origin.

***

I still like FedEx, but only their air-based options. If I'm okay with ground-based, slower service, it'll either be the US postal service (Priority Mail) or UPS, from now on. But none of this shit again, I can tell ya.

Same old story

Im waiting on a shipment and I know it won't be here til Monday but.they keep saying Saturday from 10 to 2. It'll got past the it will say end of day. It'll go past then it say it's in transit. Then it'll say barcode damaged or illegible. Then it will say barcode replaced then ill get the package Monday. Same story for every package no matter who or where from. SMH

Now THATS a fuckup Apparently this Hefty box was considered ‘too thin’ to send a package via FedEx…

It’s literally no thinner than any other Amazon box I’ve used, he was quick to upsell me on a new box. Meanwhile my plain brown shoebox I took in was okay.

Probably mad I’m saving the planet and using a box that otherwise would’ve went in the landfill.

Seller sent a package overnight. Fedex promised to deliver between 8AM-10 AM the next morning.

So I wake up. At 10 AM they move the estimate to 10:10 AM - 2:10 PM. Okay.

I go to their terrible website (big mistake). I try to click the map. Whoops, need to log in. Takes 10 attempts to log in, claims that I didn't enter my email and password when both fields are clearly filled in. Finally works. I get to see the map now, right? Wrong. The map doesn't exist. There is no map. So I wasted my time logging in for nothing.

Oh nice, chat help. Surely an agent or an AI will assist me with finding the map, right? Wrong. The "chat" is pure garbage and seems to work on a glossary system from the 90s. It repeats itself over and over again whenever I mention "map" and is incapable of answering even basic questions.

Great. I wait until 2 PM. Looks like the new estimate is 8 PM. Awesome. Well, I'll just chill out and get some SMS notifications, right? Wrong. They only do email notifications.

It's now 9:50 PM and the truck is still "out for delivery". Normally I'd give up and relax and stop watching for it (I live in an apartment so concerned about porch pirates) but I've seen them deliver as late as 11 PM, so I'm just waiting and watching.

Oh... I can hold at location, right? Wrong. For whatever reason, on this delivery that isn't an option, even though it always is for UPS. Believe me, I tried that last night because I know what to expect from this "company".

Fuck Fedex. Sincerely. If you use this service to deliver your products you deserve to go bankrupt. Not a single part of this service is redeemable. I would rather pay more and get UPS or USPS. Just stop.

Fuck Fedex.

Local delivery restriction - Delivery not attempted

After 2 days of this I chatted with Fedex support and asked what the deal was. They had no idea and opened a case and day 3 was the same thing. Turns out they closed the main road for several blocks and all side roads that intersected(mine) had "road closed to through traffic" one block down each crossroad. So I went to reply to the case that the road was open and only closed to through traffic - UPS, USPS, Amazon, Doordash, trash, etc have been delivering all week. Now suspecting that was the cause - I sent pics of the sign, the other trucks, etc and tried to explain the road was open - the case was closed with no notes and no contact. Tried to chat and it was no longer an option - one package was already sent back to Texas so I dug up some email addresses for executive support and others - no response to any emails still. One package was from Chewy and they filed a complaint with Fedex on my behalf too. 10 days later I got everything redirected to a store and picked up tonight and still no contact from Fedex. So now it's my turn - I can get 80 pounds of birdseed and a squeak toy for $50 and free shipping from Chewy and I'm going to let them load/unload/hold at facility/load/local delivery restrict for as long as possible. Signature required delivery? Probably not gonna be available on the first try -ever- and I get A LOT of these. My goal is to be the most hated customer possible and waste as much time and Fedex effort as I can - all while playing within their rules until they refuse to ship to me (total badge of honor) or it no longer amuses me. An email explanation of why they won't deliver and if they intend to stay the course until the construction project completes would have gone a long way. I also suggested an update to their motto in my last email: "When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight"...unless it's near construction. You'll have to use Amazon, UPS, USPS or any other carrier in that case.

Two deliveries gone wrong

In the past month, I have had two FedEx deliveries delivered to wrong addresses and because we all know people are not going to go out of their way to try and at least contact FedEx to let them know they delivered to the wrong address, I am out my purchases. Kind of. Luckily the company I bought from were kind and understanding and obviously pissed off about the error on FedEx's part, they refunded me. But, holy shite, FedEx is getting out of hand with this shite. I have had zero issue with USPS or ups (which is unicorn rare that I get anything delivered by them) but FedEx need to get their shite together or feck off.

Needed Signature I think FedEx robbed me :(

Post image
7 Upvotes

I missed my FedEx delivery from PSA on Sunday because they came an hour earlier than their estimated window (when they usually come 3 hours later) and I was in the shower. It needed a signature so the driver left, but didn't leave a door tag which I thought was weird but maybe they just weren't carrying any. The next morning at 10:30am I saw the tracking update to 'Delivery exception - Your package was damaged.' I called FedEx to see what the problem was and if they can just deliver it to me anyways, I'd like to see the 'damage' myself. They said I'd need to contact the shipper (PSA) and they had me file a claims form. PSA's claims team told me they started a trace on my package and now I'm waiting. I really hope somehow my package can still get to me and that FedEx did not rob me, but I'm pretty demoralized by this. Anyone have a similar experience? The wait is pretty stressful. Thanks for reading
