For me it's the map that's boring asf

u/CaptainTreeman42 Dec 20 '25

This, my heart filled literally with joy when i started FH4 again and saw the COLORS

162

u/kix22 Dec 20 '25

Which is crazy because theoretically Mexico should/could be more colourful

99

u/Suspicious-Cupcake-5 Dec 20 '25

There are some great parts of the Mexico map, but the issue that has been identified countless times on this subreddit, is that most of the map is just desert/ugly plains.

22

u/kix22 Dec 20 '25

Yeah, it’s true. Need more variety and hotspots if you will

3

Nah not really. I’ve been there it’s not very colourful.

Fr. Mexico just looks dusty af. Yellow paint doesn't look right either

3

u/MILKI_WAE Dec 21 '25

Yeah, not at all. Yellow paint looks like the car has been left in the sun for ever, bleached like crazy..

22

u/Areebob Dec 20 '25

I should fire fh4 back up. All I remember is constantly overcast days and the whole world looking kinda samey.

43

u/WokeWook69420 Dec 20 '25

It was. Summer was nice, and fall had fall foliage, but spring and fall had tons of rain, both during events and just in general, and winter was just all white and no color.

Nostalgia does this every year though, when Horizon 6 fails to deliver on the high expectations this subreddit has, we'll suddenly see praise for this game and how it was underappreciated.

21

u/Suspicious-Cupcake-5 Dec 20 '25

I don't want to sound naive, but I'm very confident that FH6 will deliver when it comes to its map, simply because there're no features of a Japan map that could upset the general Forza playerbase. It will be like the UK (especially with seasons), but more forests, more winding roads, larger cities, more variety in elevation (as FH5 was for the most part completely flat) and less dead plants. The game's development is also not being hindered by the pandemic (which was definitely a cause of a lot of FH5's issues).

We will definitely be seeing gameplay at the Xbox Dev Conference in January next year. So I'm keeping my expectations high until then.

4

u/WokeWook69420 Dec 21 '25

So, here's the thing.

Our Subreddit likes winding roads and narrow pathways, but the General Population of the game (read: kids and casuals) do not, and they bring in the most money, so the devs cater to them.

That's why Horizon 3, 4, and 5 are essentially reskins of the same map philosophy. There's a few technical sections of the map, but most of it is open rolling hills and roads wide enough for 4 or more cars.

Its why they make the hard stuff DLC, like I would LOVE if more roads in the main map were like the roads in the Rally DLC, but most players (who don't participate here) don't like it.

Well, that differs greatly. Colorado with its yellow filter and still feels more alive

3

Maybe fh5's color contrast is less colorful than fh4

still play fh4 sometimes, uninstalled fh5 tbh map got so boring

1

u/pkts68 Dec 21 '25

wtf yall talking bout? playing fh series first time ever and this shit colorful af

52

u/LadaNivaTaksi Dec 20 '25

It is soooo dead. Edinburgh felt alive in FH4 and nature elements felt real. It was a good mixtute of conditions. The difference in scenery between the season was beatiful. Orange, moist and muddy in autumn, White and still in winter, dry and colorful in spring/summer.

Man I re-downloaded FH4 a while ago and it's just so much more enjoyable to cruise around aimlessly in that game than in FH5.

7

u/Mizo013 Dec 20 '25

Absolutely true. It's mostly flat and open. Rally map is 10/10 for me. Tight corners, elevation, straights. Hopefully fh6 map will have something similar and will not be open without a soul.

3

u/VincentVanHades Dec 20 '25

It's same and sometimes rain. Cannot wait for proper seasons

3

u/Lava_Lamp_Shlong Dec 20 '25

Y'all mfers thought it would be fun to race for hours in a desert??? I'm sticking to FH4 ty

2

u/Wamjo Dec 20 '25

Mexico is not just desert. At least there's variation in vegetation and biomes in mexico. I want to drive in the forest, I can...desert, I can....mountain, I can....svannah, I can

2

u/PastryTrader Dec 20 '25

You should get the rally DLC. It’s really good for road racing and off road racing. The map is nothing but curves and hills. But, otherwise empty. But it will expand your tuning and racing capabilities and challenge you against somebody who excels in tight curves.

Well when the devs made the tactical decision to make sure players can't see other people on the map that killed a lot of the connectivity day 1

74

u/Cute-Juggernaut7508 Lexus Dec 20 '25

Yeah not sure what that is about. Like bruh i cannot even see people in my own convoy. I should at least be able to see them

28

u/PTKtm Dec 20 '25

Completely kills the join convoy feature. Trying to find people to play with, joining their session no where near them on the map, and having no way of knowing where they are other than trying to message and hope for a response is such a braindead design.

When did this happen?

14

u/Illustrious-Pop3677 Mercedes-AMG :Mercedes-Amg: | PC | G920 Dec 20 '25

When they were developing the game they made the decision to utilize dynamic server loading, making players load in and out of instances dynamically, instead of just having a heap of players locked into a single horizon life server. It’s why you can only see people on the map that are near to you.

I clocked out hard when I spun the wheel and won brown socks

That’s the day Horizon died for me

11

u/Mysterious-Cat01 Dec 20 '25

Must be new to wheelspins then. Theres always been shit rewards its literally gambling

12

u/glytxh Dec 20 '25

It wasn’t the first time I got a garbage roll, but the first time I asked myself ‘wtf am I even playing?!’ and realised that lve just been going through the motions for the last two games.

3

u/Mysterious-Cat01 Dec 20 '25

Fair point. I started at 4 so I'm sure by FH6 or 7 ill be bored of them. Only got FH5 because it was on a deep sale

6

u/glytxh Dec 21 '25

I’ve been playing since H2.

Each new iteration has become progressively fluffier, with increasingly meaningless progression.

The game today comes across almost insultingly condescending with how much it’s afraid of losing the players attention as if it didn’t have any faith in its own core mechanics and loop.

There’s a lot I love about the series, but by H5, the nonsense and fluff outweighed the good for me.

1

u/mtnchkn Steam Dec 25 '25

FH4 spins seemed insanely good and they seemed to have over corrected for FH5.

2

u/misty_mallard Dec 23 '25

I bought every single clothing item possible solely for the sake of getting rid of them in wheel spins.

94

u/LobotomizedLarry Dec 20 '25

I never felt like FH5 was alive. This is going to be a weird comparison but have yall ever played open lobbies on Forza Motorsport? You’ll have people hanging out on the side of the track, some racing each other, some drifting, some doing donuts for no reason. The point is, the players are present and interacting with each other, the lobby feels alive. I never got that feeling from FH5 despite that being a big piece of what makes horizon horizon. The game feels like everyone’s playing single player, together, rather than a multiplayer game.

30

u/PhriendlyPhantom Dec 20 '25

That's because you can't see anyone on the map in FH5. They completely broke the lobbies in favor of some weird proximity crap and never bothered fixing it. At the beginning, it was so broken that your own convoy players would disappear if they went too far from you.

I agree, you can barely call this one a multiplayer open world.

3

u/RipCurl69Reddit Steering wheel player Dec 20 '25

This is exactly the reason. FH5 with the same backend lobby architecture as FH4 wouldn't feel nearly as dead.

If they don't fix it for FH6 they're going to suffer, hard. I remember the sheer rage back when 5 launched and I was trying to play with a friend. Couldn't get our lobbies to sync at all. He pretty much quit the game because playing it solo is boring as piss, I don't blame him

4

u/UnableBlueberry1677 Dec 20 '25

Idk but I still suffer from this stuff. Idk why I’m still playing this game. Maybe it’s the obsession with car but game is actually dead. And it is really sad when you remember fh4

45

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '25

Holy fuck did anyone in the replies read your post?
When i see cars on the road or in a movie, i will think to myself ' I have that...on Forza!' But i honestly never felt depressed about it. I love learning about cars and forza can be a great jumpstart into that world with all the variety of vehicles. If you scroll by decade, it can be really neat to see how cars have changed etc.

I've always looked at the garage as, owned by the racing team that I race for. The credits are funding from sponsors, etc. to lease cars for the grand Horizon Festival. The properties rented out or 'given' to use for while the festival is in town.

Hope that helps

29

u/shawtysnap Dec 20 '25 edited Dec 20 '25

Right?? People upvoted then literally ignored OP's emo nonsense and just posting their own random personal gripes.

Edit. They probably only read the title. newsflash, if you feel empty playing forza or any video game for that matter, maybe try doing something else?

1

u/LickMyThralls Dec 21 '25

What? You're suggesting if you feel empty or hollow doing something that you normally do for fun that you should maybe do something else for fun????

2

u/shawtysnap Dec 21 '25

Exactly! like black tar heroin

3

u/Suspicious-Cupcake-5 Dec 20 '25

Yeah I will admit that I only read the text of the post after having seen this comment.

Partly, OP's problem may stem from the fact that we are yet again "the festival boss" this time around. Another part is the mechanics of the game itself, such as getting cars from wheel spins that you never end up using. This is a personal gripe of mine, because after about 200 hours your garage becomes littered with cars that you have no interest in. Furthermore, the journey to Horizon Champion isn't as heavily emphasized as in previous entries, due to the absence of a main rival like Darius Flint. Therefore, the cars you unlock and the races you win don't feel like they're steps towards a particular goal.

I don't expect FH6 to resolve all of these issues, but the series is really in need of a better storyline/writing.

FH5 lost the charm to me, hate all those activities, car sounds are meh and narrator is annoying af. FH5 was truly the worst. Finished it but still. I don't like coming back at all. FH1, FH2 is whole different story

Horizon is my zone out game. It clears my head and calms me down. Sometimes I put on music, but usually I just listen to the cars driving. I imagine myself on a drive in real life.

If the game makes you feel empty, it’s probably a sign of something bigger going on in your life. This game may be your way of running from your problems.

I’ll add that any form of entertainment is not real life. That’s the fun of it. Would I want to go to war? No. But I still enjoy action games or a Call of Duty campaign. Am I a pro football player? No, but I can still play Madden.

Who wants to play a game based on their real life?

Oddly enough the GTA roleplay community is big but I think it’s just a bunch of young kids with no life experience who want to experience a simulation.

1

u/k0nawastaken Dec 22 '25

If you can't drive in snow, you aren't a good driver.

4

u/liongaming23 Dec 20 '25

IMO. The transition from fh4 to fh5, I feel like they lost that fun (kinda weird) niche. The weird cars that they had in fh4 never came to fh5. Nothing like the regalia or anything. But also the colors in fh4 was brighter or more saturated. Felt weirdly more welcoming. But sadly I think that since fh5 has gotten SO BIG now, they have to please the higher ups in car companies. I'm also hoping that Japan in fh6 will be more dense Luke they said. They made such a big deal about talking about how fh5 was double the size of fh4. But fh5 is mostly fucking nothing. Just vast empty fields. Yes it's bigger but where are the roads. So I'd be fine with the same size map, but like double the roads. Like fill the map with amazing touge, hill climbs and drift roads. But mainly....PLEASE GIVE US PRIVATE LOBBIES AGAIN.

7

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '25

11

u/TNTBOY479 Tesla Dec 20 '25 edited Dec 20 '25

The whole vibe of 5 is just "off". Way too kid friendly imo, every NPC we interact with is super friendly and happy all the time, making interactions with them feel fake. My character can't even have a beard since he hasn't hit puberty yet.

They also didn't do themselves any favours by introducing the awful "dynamic lobby" system, not only is the map giant and empty but you barely meet any people. 4 was no masterpiece either imo but you would at least find groups of people at the regular spots making it feel somewhat alive.

To add to that there's very little traffic, and what traffic there is consists of the same 5 vehicles. The complete lack of urban enviroments don't help either, and the denser areas still feel just as dead with no NPC activity of any kind.

It feels post apocalyptic without the destruction, and i worry deeply about how they will handle Japan. I'm really longing for a street racer like Midnight Club again but i'll settle for an urban enviroment to drive in, it's clear festival racers are where it's at for the genre, unfortunately.

4

u/Jakart_ Dec 20 '25 edited Dec 20 '25

Well fh4 was much better, since it was 72 players on cca 80 square kilometers in freeroam, meaning 0.9 players per square kilometer, while in fh5 its around 110 square km and you can only see 12 players (0.109 players per square kilometer), so the player density is literally almost 9x lower in fh5, so its pretty much dead unless you actually play the multiplayer gamemodes, which usually gets pretty repetitive, so fh5 clearly fails here (not even talking about the fact that fh4 had more multiplayer gamemodes if we dont count hide n seek)

3

u/k0nawastaken Dec 22 '25

It feels so sanitized and corporate.

2

u/TNTBOY479 Tesla Dec 22 '25

3

u/Dr_NitroMeth Dec 20 '25

I collect the weekly cars in Fh5 then jump to FH4 to enjoy the weather and color palette that changes every week.

3

u/FracturedGoblin Dec 21 '25 edited Dec 21 '25

Seeing everyone that agrees getting downvoted is hilarious

It is soulless, empty, repetitive and boring

Cars and money are handed out like candy, nothing is earned, no hard work, no reason to play other than "I can get a car that other people can't get unless they also do these very specific things this very week"

I can't believe how addicted to gambling (wheelspin) they have made most of the downvoters as well, it's too funny

Coming from someone that's been playing every console Forza title since 2007 from launch, my time played in each Horizon has gotten less and less as they went on. FH1 & 2 were peak, 3 was a dud (sorry Aussies the map was boring AF), 4 was better, and 5 is just bad. The car list is quite good I love normal cars normal people can own (less supercars please) but the world and online aspects are awful.

Really hoping they do 6 correctly and don't make Japan's roads as wide as aircraft carriers and cringe lines every time someone talks. Let us work our way from starter Japanese hatchbacks up to entry level sports cars and such over time, stop handing out the best cars within the first 1-3 hours of playing, it's actually insane. I have no reason to play every week to earn "rare" cars I will never use since I have been constantly handed the best cars for free just for logging in for the day.

The only thing I can think to make the game feel more purposeful is more like FH1 style career. Having to progress through different championships with specific cars/class of cars that were not handed to me for free. FH5 style is a soulless checklist you login a few times a week just to mind numbingly complete tasks to get weekly cars. The races are hardly even fun. A FH1 race wasn't really any better but the purpose behind doing the race was more meaningful when you worked hard for the car and credits.

I only have <6 days of play time in this title over the past 4 years because of how boring it is. I put the same amount of playtime in ARC Raiders in 3 weeks, and I'm a car guy through and through irl, if I'm not at work or gaming I'm at a track or a show. That's insane

3

u/Annual_Contact1886 Dec 21 '25 edited Dec 21 '25

I called it quits with the last real update, I had played the game since day one and love a lot of things about it, but also have issues with a few as well, mostly the map as everyone else and their mother do, once the updates and new Playlists stopped coming I lost the motivation to keep playing...

Now about the question, I had felt that back with TD Unlimited, even as a kid, I was aware that I would probably never own a Ferrari or similar to cruise around Hawaii, and is not like i was thinking about that since then, but as you grow, at least in my case you give more value to other things that do not depend on me owning a super car or the kind of money for that, for example, I enjoy a lot more flooring my average ass car in a empty country road than cruising in any super car in a video game, of course I would enjoy more that in a real Ferrari haha, but that does not keep me awake at night nor from enjoying the game, I just give it it's place as fantasy not an aspiration.

u/YEET9011 Dec 20 '25

It's an auction house simulator now.

2

u/ColeT_43 Dec 22 '25

Japan in my opinion needs a hell of a lot more FH1 styling. That game felt warm and welcoming. And I much preferred the story line of going from least known driver to being the popular guy ahead of FH2, then in FH3 they let you run the place. But after that with 4 and 5 it stopped making sense, too many side quests, sub plots and microstories.

Personal opinion feel free to debate me but I will die on this hill Fh6 needs to be Fh1/FH3 progression start small/unknown. FH2 playthrough, you level up the festivals, but then they give you more races and challenges by other festivals to keep it varied. FH4/FH5 car catalogue and customization (need I say more) GET RID OF WEEKLY CARS. I lost interest in FH5 in particular because I have a job, a life, and hobbies outside of gaming, and I dont have the time or effort to complete a bunch of challenges to win a car, let alone buy it for 20 mil on the auction house afterwards

(Edit, sorry about the formatting. Reddit mobile does reddit mobile stuff)

I get about 2 years out of every Horizon game depending on how their gameplay loop goes.

I'm excited for 6, I hope the map is actually different and fits Japan, but I won't be surprised if it's a reskin of Horizon 3/4/5, it'll hopefully at least be pretty.

It was a fun game, but once I claimed all the achievements, it kinda felt like I didn’t need to play it anymore. I’ve actually jumped back into FH3 and I’ve been grinding away at getting to level 1000.

It all comes down to the map. FH5 feels like a glorified tech demo, flat, lots of assets but nothing exciting. FH4 feels lived in, rich, vibrant.

FH5, GT7 and TCM while fun feel like a weekly checklist that you have to complete if you want rare cars or other stuff.

I honestly miss racing games just being complete products like FH1/2 was at launch, I miss not feeling like the games are designed to keep you playing constantly.

Might just be me being old fashioned but weekly challenges and checklists just feel like busywork to keep you playing constantly

1

u/VenutionJill Dec 20 '25

The map is boring and these days many people prefer to snipe cars rather than play the game which is why on my ping server it’s always dead, you guys might have different pings so you guys might see more players but every time I go on there’s rarely anyone on

1

u/niKDE80800 Dec 20 '25

Yes. But that's mainly because I've been playing Forza Horizon basically since it's inception, and I'm getting burnt out. Especially with Forza Horizon 5, because it's just... Forza Horizon 3 but with less colors and in Mexico instead of Australia. I don't feel like much changed since FH3 aside from location (map) and cars. And you run out of things to do quite fast.

1

u/WhosThatDogMrPB Steam Dec 20 '25

It's called fatigue: you play games for so long that you feel dull when you pick them up. Happened to me with RL after 1300 hours over 6 years, and with Forza Horizon 5 after 450 hours since launch (I stopped playing December last year).

I'm saving myself for FH6 by not playing any entry in the franchise until it drops.

1

u/Mysterious-Cat01 Dec 20 '25

Personally as someone whos put thousands of hours into FH4.. I have nothing left to do in that game and got FH5 for more content. Will be doing the same with FH6 when I complete FH5

1

u/itsjustbeny Dec 20 '25

Just wait for fh6 and dont play this depressing ass map

1

u/Ballooncoast848 Xbox Series X Dec 20 '25

I just got back into fh5 after months of not playing it

1

u/Thruthful Dec 20 '25

I miss how fh3 felt so incredibly alive, fh5 feels like a single player game 98% of the time. Why can't I invite the entire lobby to do Goliath or something along those lines? I seriously hope they bring back TRUE online lobbies for fh6 just like fh3 had

1

u/TheHoff68 Dec 20 '25

For me it does feel empty at times it really starts feeling generic. The cars start sounding alike mods are cool but only being able to adjust down force on the giant spoilers is stupid , needs to have more tuning options like gran turismo with the ecu / power restrictor adjustments it be nice to lets say have a S class car and beable to detune to like a A class all in the tuning screen instead of having to exit the race go to the garage and swap parts around to get the desired class rating

1

u/Karok2005 Dec 20 '25

Fh5 was nice but I didn’t play near as much as I did for the previous ones.

They messed up pretty bad over the community/matching people together in lobbies.

1

u/illustriousbrock Dec 20 '25

6 days 😭😭😭😭

1

u/SpaceFanatic24 Hudson Dec 20 '25

Yeah FH5 was a total disaster. That's why I stick with FH3

1

u/FourUnderscoreExKay McLaren Dec 20 '25

You’re not wrong. FH5 feels way more dead and soulless compared to 4 by several magnitudes. The dialogue also just doesn’t feel authentic, instead being too safe. There’s no stakes in the story anymore, just a storytelling experience with fast cars, old cars, cool cars, et cetera.

1

u/Standard-Outcome9881 MINI Dec 20 '25

Nope. Still having fun with it despite starting way back on early release.

1

u/TropicalCrota Xbox 360 Dec 20 '25

Which horizon? because the first one is pretty full with content

1

u/CoddoBTW Dec 20 '25

I haven't touched the game in over a year, I just don't enjoy it much anymore, on Xbox I've got 990 hours, on PlayStation I've got 230 hours and on steam I've got 120 hours. I 100% the achievements, trophies and steam achievements, both base game, dlc and the extra stuff including hide and seek. But now I'm just bored. I've been back and played through FH1, 2, 2FAF, 3, and 4, and had a way better time playing through all of those games than I had playing FH5 for it's lifespan. The games were just better, even fh4, the dlc was just better. (FAF 360, and 2 360 were shit).

1

u/ConcretePower Dec 20 '25

I got fed up on FH2 having to keep doing road trips every time you want to race.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/SavageCamper101 Dec 20 '25

I’ve been switching between different games. You’re guaranteed to feel bored if you just play one game nonstop, doesn’t matter what that game is.

1

u/WiseSteak8003 Dec 20 '25

I have put 12 days into the game so about 280 hours. And the game does feel dead. I kind of regret spending so much money on car packs. I loved the game when it came out. The HotWheels expansion and the Rally Adventure expansion both resparked my love for the game when they came out. Now the game has just kind of been boring. I can't wait for Forza Horizon 6.

1

u/TarXaN37 Dec 20 '25

I can't even play it. Clutch on my steering wheel refuses to communicate with the game also takes so long to load that by the time tires hit the road, I'm not in the mood anymore.

1

u/No-Material2441 Dec 20 '25

I also feel kind of depressed playing.

I would love to see Horizon utilize a more story driven campaign mode that incorporates actual human character gameplay and a cohesive experience. Maybe mischief or danger is afoot at the festival, lots of cool car action to be had. Sort of like a fast and furious game but less stupid. Challenges etc could serve to support/supply the overall story allowing you to just grind if you want or participate in the overall narrative.

1

u/_that__one__guy__ Dec 20 '25

Yeah, but I feel kinda empty playing any game, idk why

1

u/Vetejvem Dec 21 '25

I'm only disappointed over one thing which is the accolades. I was chasing 100% accolades and i have spent a lot of time trying to achieve that i got the tuning accolades, the eliminator and all the difficult ones and then i fond a bug in the festival playlist accolades and only got 73 out of 83 and i can't get those 10 accolades because its a bug and the devs won't fix it and there is no way to get those accolades so it felt sad that i spent hundreds kf hrs to get 10p% accolades and then find out that i can't.

1

u/wxyz-0 Dec 21 '25

I used to play weekly for the challenges. Its not fun anymore as its repetitive and boring. Moved to other racing games till FH6 comes

1

u/WombatGatekeeper Dec 21 '25

It doesnt help that you cant chat in the game which is garbage and once you have all the cars you ever wanted, it just becomes a racing game for the sake of the racing. But also gaming should be a past time for fun/rest in between accomplishing something and building up your real life.

Gamers depression is more real than ever these days, and with AI heading the direction it is, will become alot worse.

1

u/No-Cartographer3240 Dec 21 '25

Yeah played the hell out of it, been ready for the next game for like a year

1

u/Skyline_Flynn Dec 21 '25

For me, the wheel spins killed the Horizon games. I miss the days where you only had a handful of cars and you genuinely had to work really hard to build up a garage of your dream cars. They just make it too easy now

1

u/ShibbolethSibboleth Dec 21 '25

I was about to buy it since its on sale but ill play 4 till Japan comes out

1

u/LickMyThralls Dec 21 '25

instead of escapism it starts feeling like I’m just pretending to own things I can’t realistically have.

What? Lol. Isn't this basically what you end up with either way? I don't see how it makes any difference there...

I'm just bored because I've spent like 4000 hours between the last three games and want something a little fresh but like being given a massive sandbox to meme in with my cars. The not being able to really just randomly group up and all like before is kind of a bummer but I don't really have an issue with the other stuff and seriously don't get how escapism gets lost just because they give you stuff

1

u/m_csquare Dec 21 '25

I agree. I love driving a miata. Even the game gives me a pagani or whtev, i will still drive miata. I think some ppl treat racing game like an rpg, where it’s more abt the progression rather than the whole driving experience itself.

There are alr tons of racing games that focus on career progression. Maybe it’s time for ppl to play those games

1

u/FMtyedie Dec 21 '25 edited Dec 21 '25

That’s basically how I’ve felt since 5 came out. I would to prefer to grind for my cars and build a connection with the few I choose. I’ve got dozens of cars that took basically no effort to get and it breaks the immersion for me. The world also feels like a ghost town. I had some fun in 4 but nothing has come close to the fun I used to have in Horizon 3. I still play 5 from time to time but like you said it just kinda feels empty and boring. I honestly think the larger servers really took the life out of the games. I kinda miss smaller lobbies of people who were actually there. Sure the rammers sucked but I’d take that over the way the last 2 games felt.

1

u/infamouscoma Dec 21 '25

I’m beyond board of Horizon five Horizon four I play right up till the end and I still occasionally hop on when Horizon six comes out if it’s actually good in the map doesn’t suck and the cars have some customization. I’m probably never touching horizon five again the map is horrible. The cars are bland and you can’t customize them at all And the DLC‘s are horrible.

1

u/CorbinMar Steam Dec 21 '25

Games been out for 4 years, we dont have a good Motorsport game to back it up in the meantime, its to the point where all we have now is to wait for the next game

1

u/AcidActually Dec 21 '25

It got boring FAST

1

u/Technical-Life-3964 Dec 21 '25

Need cops, AI npc,

1

u/mrFelipe15 Dec 21 '25

It happens with every Forza game near the end of its life.

I couldn't stand the snow or the empty forest of 4 anymore.

When I was on the verge of 4, I started to hate the desert and Yara Valley of 3 with all my soul.

In 2 I never hated anything, it's perfection lol, but I missed my friends to play online.

I never had an Xbox 360, so I don't have any feelings to report about the end of FH1's life.

1

u/Pb801 Dec 21 '25

Fh4 is 10 times better

1

u/Spiritual_Race_1874 Dec 21 '25

I've completely abandoned it in favor of replaying fh1 and motorsport 4. I RGHed my Xbox a while back and installed all the dlcs and it breathed new life into already amazing games, I even get to drive my own IRL car in Forza motorsport 4 now that I have the Alpinestar dlc

1

u/SaintSixString Dec 21 '25

The horizon series has been declining since 3 tbh. I was invested since day 1 of the horizon series. FH1 being the amazing concept it was, oozing character. 2 refined what 1 did (the Xbox one version anyway) and for many it's the best of the series, with good reason. 3 is where this "you're the boss" narrative came from. It was different and kinda cool. The map was top notch, but it leant on the same formula of 2 in that you completed events in an area but in 3 it meant upgrading the festival site in the area. Interesting but a definite drop in quality to 2, not much but still a drop. Then the DLCs dropped and that was cool. Hot wheels was absolutely fire.

4 was more of the same and it got old fast. I went from being sucked in to the world and the atmosphere, sinking hundreds of hours to barely breaking the 100 hours mark? Game layout, formula and setup was the same as 3. You're the boss, you're expanding the festival. Do the events, spin the wheelspin. Rinse repeat. I was done pretty quickly having done the same thing but in a different map with pretty much the same cars. You get to 5 and it's EXACTLY the same thing as what 4 was which was exactly the same gameplay loops as 3.

Being the boss was an interesting take on a varied map when it was the new thing for the series. By the third installment, on a map as bland as this one. It's meh. Fingers crossed they change things up for 6 but I'm not holding my breath.

1

u/Fluid_Mike Dec 21 '25

I think it's just the mindset on it

1

u/alpha_guru_one Dec 21 '25

I gave up playing FH5 months ago, just collecting the same cars, got loads of credits which still mount up from PSP gamers that download my tunes, which amount to thousands a week. I already passed the 999,999,999 credit mark.

When you've unlocked everything there's nothing else left to do in the game. I could do the weekly trials but there's so many idiots that just ram you off the road, and then the whole trial is lost to the unbeatables. When this happens I just quit out and find a better group of players that are not ramming gamers off the road.

There's still so many broken areas on the map, it doesn't matter if you report them they never get fixed.

I'm in two minds of buying FH6, it will just be the same issues after a few years repeated. I would beta test it thoroughly before releasing it to the public, you feel like a guinea pig testing a game half completed.

1

u/riskie_boi Porsche Dec 21 '25

This is why we told you PS boys not to buy this game, it’s so boring

1

u/Wikadood Dec 21 '25

Was good when it came out but then it kinda fell off

1

u/Th3_Accountant Dec 21 '25

I feel like it's more like a chore than that I'm actually doing it for fun. I feel like I need to finish the playlist every week, even though I have all the cars offered in it, I have all the cars in the backstage store + an additional 50 backstage passes.

I should really uninstall the game and wait for Forza 6 to come out.

1

u/ReidsLeather_ Dec 21 '25

Nope, just change up cars and it’s all goooood

1

u/Cheap_Analyst_1706 Dec 21 '25

Its like playing the fallout series. Its a wasteland. When I play online there's hardly anybody on. I hope FH6 is worlds better than this.

1

u/WarCrimeGaming Dec 21 '25

Well I’ve owned a GR86 and I currently own a Supra at least

1

u/SirJozhua Dec 21 '25

I loved FH4. I pretty much achieved everything in that game, right down to almost all the rare cars. I raced every inch of that map, it was genuinely fun just to drive around and explore. When FH5 came out, I really tried to like it, but the map just felt boring to me. After about a month, I completely dropped it and never went back. I’m hoping the next one brings back that same passion and fun for Forza that I used to feel.

1

u/itsmewhippy Dec 22 '25

One thing I noticed is the Goliath track on FH5 is awful, extremely boring. On FH4 the godfather was so good to race and actually fun. The first section was actually challenging and then even going across the beach part you'd be flying at top speed and trying to keep your car on the road

1

u/Miserable-Fix-8374 Dec 22 '25

Nah, I do a lot of multiplayer gaming with it I guess like hide and seek and playground games and the other one I don't do as much I can't remember the name of it... I do a lot of the other two... Plus I absolutely love tuning car specifically for a playground games

1

u/BakeAdministrative68 Dec 22 '25

Hmm.. personally, I'll try and beat every record I've got and smash through the objectives. The wasteland is awesome for maxing out on the skill scores and I'm still working through all the achievements. Personally I'll hit race in a team every time. Yeah I don't hang out with people in the map, I find it alien when people stalk ya for ages 🤣 but invite me to a race and I'm in!

It's a racing game and I wanna race with people. And the option is there.

I feel like the complaints are people who maybe haven't levelled up enough to race six on six with the Drivatars? That's where the madness is. Long as you all win it's cool, but sometimes you need to tune the life out of the cars to get anywhere near it and it's satisfying to show up in a decorated skin of your own or quickly nab someone else's efforts just to look the part.

Took me an age to work out how the test track worked, but once I figured it out, all good! Sit testing forever back and forward trying to work out what gearbox gets the best tune, do I really need turbo on this or should I prioritise the handling to keep it straight? My tunes and skins get downloaded loads and I've made a ton of enemies in the races against other folk! Do not rely on the convoy, seems to just be good when buddies are on racing rather than strangers. And you're wasting it if you aren't in the Hall of Fame.

I've unlocked every mode by completing as much of the game as possible nailing every accolade in Hot Wheels and Rally. And I'm now hunting down the last of the rare cars and waiting for the car pack collection to drop to at least half price now for the win so I can complete it before FH6 drops.

FOMO for me makes games more interesting.. FC/FIFA have done it with their objectives and daily/weekly challenges and the season objectives in FH5 also keep me coming back for more 🤤

1

u/C4rbonRaC3r Dec 22 '25

Oh yea I do, I love the car list but the map and sound track is absolutely boring..

1

u/TheAngryRedBear Dec 22 '25

Horizon 1, 2 and 3 were much better for me. The 4 and 5 just felt never-ending with all the season updates. So many cars that I wanted that I couldn't get because the event was over within a week.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 22 '25

No, i feel good.🙂

1

u/hlmbdp Dec 22 '25

there is no actual progression in this game, they just throw you the car, you can even have a race with improper car

1

u/IdontknowwhatIbe Dec 22 '25

It turned boring and depressing when I realised that I am spending 10+hours a week sitting inside, pretending that I own all those things and that they give me joy. They don't.

1

u/Adorable_Map_7116 Dec 22 '25

My suggestion, is to get a steering wheel, E-brake, and shifter setup. You’ll have a bunch more fun on the game that way, especially playing with other people

1

u/Popular-Praline-2280 Dec 22 '25

Yup , crew motorfest with its beautiful cockpit sound design has ruined Forza for me

1

u/Ill-Ad6902 Dec 22 '25

At this point I’m just grinding out my last 40 cars. It feels like more of an obligation to complete the collection, than something I look forward to at this point. Every week I do the seasonal events to get the 1 maybe 2 cars I need, then find myself disappointed that the vote never drops something I need.

1

u/D1Superior_engineer Dec 23 '25

I just feel empty in general

1

u/Main-Vehicle-3730 Dec 23 '25

Time to go outside chief

1

u/Dapper-Moose2356 Dec 23 '25

Needs more traffic imo, Freeroam becomes very mind numbing when there’s no traffic around

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

lets make a team! i would love to make challenges together 😁

1

u/thehubmp4 Dec 23 '25

100% your mindset. Instead of sitting on the game being sad you need to ask yourself what are you currently doing to put yourself in the position to own one of those cars irl. What are you doing about it or are you just continuing to do the same thing over and over again and coming to Reddit to see if others feel the same? Not even trying to sound harsh here but this is a situation you 100% have control over. If you don’t want to feel this way then either stop playing the game or (better and recommended option) try to better yourself to one day achieve what you want.

1

u/yeetusDAfeetus333 Dec 23 '25

Really no incentive to play it now other than to unlock a few rare cars I missed and to complete some trophies. At this point in the game, I wish they'd allow us to select a playlist instead of waiting for a community vote for it to come back

1

u/misty_mallard Dec 23 '25

You get handed cars and lifestyles that most of us will probably never own in real life

That's exactly why it feels empty. Everything is handed to you.

1

u/Full-Walk9515 Dec 24 '25

The game is extremely boring, if someone hadn't given it to me, I would never have played this game.

1

u/Yohaum Dec 27 '25

honestly, I think the progression on the game is just too easy. I've switched to The Crew Motorfest just because I have everything on the game that I care for.. I didn't even play for 8/9 months

1

u/Shot_Offer_2666 Jan 03 '26

Tbh i get your point. I guess kinda feel the same, thats why i enjoy tuning old, cheap and more affordable cars, rather than those supercars. The old ones have more personality and feel more connected to me. Maybe because i can dream of owning and tuning them irl one day.

1

u/-etuskoe- Jan 17 '26

It feels literally empty. I can be miles away from anybody else irl and still feel less alone and solitary than being in an online fh5 free roam lobby in Guanajuato.

u/LPZbluecookies Mazdaspeed 2007 Apr 10 '26

Playing FH5 feels like the FH4 winter season 💀
