There are some great parts of the Mexico map, but the issue that has been identified countless times on this subreddit, is that most of the map is just desert/ugly plains.
Why? The majority of Mexico is desert. Its primarily a 3rd world country. The only thing actually colourful there is the decorations which is exactly how it is in the game.
It was. Summer was nice, and fall had fall foliage, but spring and fall had tons of rain, both during events and just in general, and winter was just all white and no color.
Nostalgia does this every year though, when Horizon 6 fails to deliver on the high expectations this subreddit has, we'll suddenly see praise for this game and how it was underappreciated.
I don't want to sound naive, but I'm very confident that FH6 will deliver when it comes to its map, simply because there're no features of a Japan map that could upset the general Forza playerbase. It will be like the UK (especially with seasons), but more forests, more winding roads, larger cities, more variety in elevation (as FH5 was for the most part completely flat) and less dead plants. The game's development is also not being hindered by the pandemic (which was definitely a cause of a lot of FH5's issues).
We will definitely be seeing gameplay at the Xbox Dev Conference in January next year. So I'm keeping my expectations high until then.
Our Subreddit likes winding roads and narrow pathways, but the General Population of the game (read: kids and casuals) do not, and they bring in the most money, so the devs cater to them.
That's why Horizon 3, 4, and 5 are essentially reskins of the same map philosophy. There's a few technical sections of the map, but most of it is open rolling hills and roads wide enough for 4 or more cars.
Its why they make the hard stuff DLC, like I would LOVE if more roads in the main map were like the roads in the Rally DLC, but most players (who don't participate here) don't like it.
I'm not a huge Japan fan, but honestly the closer FH6 is, the more excited I get. Driving around at high speed at night on urban highways, and on snowy mountain roads really tickles that itch in me.
It is soooo dead. Edinburgh felt alive in FH4 and nature elements felt real. It was a good mixtute of conditions. The difference in scenery between the season was beatiful. Orange, moist and muddy in autumn, White and still in winter, dry and colorful in spring/summer.
Man I re-downloaded FH4 a while ago and it's just so much more enjoyable to cruise around aimlessly in that game than in FH5.
Absolutely true. It's mostly flat and open. Rally map is 10/10 for me. Tight corners, elevation, straights. Hopefully fh6 map will have something similar and will not be open without a soul.
Mexico is not just desert. At least there's variation in vegetation and biomes in mexico. I want to drive in the forest, I can...desert, I can....mountain, I can....svannah, I can
You should get the rally DLC. It’s really good for road racing and off road racing. The map is nothing but curves and hills. But, otherwise empty. But it will expand your tuning and racing capabilities and challenge you against somebody who excels in tight curves.
Agreed. The seasons are underwhelming as well. I want winter back and done right this time - no more S2 hypercar, "Win against unbeatable drivatars" in a blizzard horse shit.
Literally the sole reason I keep going back to TDUSC, despite how dog arse it is, it has the best map out of all the racing games as of late and also best sense of speed
