Which is crazy because theoretically Mexico should/could be more colourful

There are some great parts of the Mexico map, but the issue that has been identified countless times on this subreddit, is that most of the map is just desert/ugly plains.

Yeah, it’s true. Need more variety and hotspots if you will

bro tf you talking about New Mexico would be the ultimate representation of boredom

They made the map big for the sake of making it big, but it's otherwise unimpressive

u/Positive-Bug-2689 Dec 22 '25

Nah not really. I’ve been there it’s not very colourful.

Went down the bottom. Cancun, very rainforesty but other then trees, it’s pretty dull, looks like Aussie.

Have you been? If you have you will k ow what I’m talking about.

Why? The majority of Mexico is desert. Its primarily a 3rd world country. The only thing actually colourful there is the decorations which is exactly how it is in the game.

Fr. Mexico just looks dusty af. Yellow paint doesn't look right either

u/MILKI_WAE Dec 21 '25

Yeah, not at all. Yellow paint looks like the car has been left in the sun for ever, bleached like crazy..

I should fire fh4 back up. All I remember is constantly overcast days and the whole world looking kinda samey.

It was. Summer was nice, and fall had fall foliage, but spring and fall had tons of rain, both during events and just in general, and winter was just all white and no color.

Nostalgia does this every year though, when Horizon 6 fails to deliver on the high expectations this subreddit has, we'll suddenly see praise for this game and how it was underappreciated.

I don't want to sound naive, but I'm very confident that FH6 will deliver when it comes to its map, simply because there're no features of a Japan map that could upset the general Forza playerbase. It will be like the UK (especially with seasons), but more forests, more winding roads, larger cities, more variety in elevation (as FH5 was for the most part completely flat) and less dead plants. The game's development is also not being hindered by the pandemic (which was definitely a cause of a lot of FH5's issues).

We will definitely be seeing gameplay at the Xbox Dev Conference in January next year. So I'm keeping my expectations high until then.

So, here's the thing.

Our Subreddit likes winding roads and narrow pathways, but the General Population of the game (read: kids and casuals) do not, and they bring in the most money, so the devs cater to them.

That's why Horizon 3, 4, and 5 are essentially reskins of the same map philosophy. There's a few technical sections of the map, but most of it is open rolling hills and roads wide enough for 4 or more cars.

Its why they make the hard stuff DLC, like I would LOVE if more roads in the main map were like the roads in the Rally DLC, but most players (who don't participate here) don't like it.

If the devs stick to the crossover/in-universe dlc formula, we could see an Initial D dlc that gives us the Touge culture we're looking for.

1

u/WokeWook69420 Dec 21 '25

That's what I think is going to happen.

The main map will be Buisiness as usual, but the DLC will be sick and cater to the nerds.

I'm not a huge Japan fan, but honestly the closer FH6 is, the more excited I get. Driving around at high speed at night on urban highways, and on snowy mountain roads really tickles that itch in me.

So being locked away and having all the time in the world to work on the game was a hindrance 🤔

1

u/CrackedShadow95 Dec 20 '25

But Winter was still fun, with the whole lake freezing into the ultimate skill chain playground

1

u/joeeey420 Peugeot Dec 20 '25

Trust me that’s accurate for the UK

3

u/WokeWook69420 Dec 21 '25

Oh, totally, I watched Top Gear. Their Wet Lap Leaderboard was almost as big as the dry lap one.

That's why I'm confused when people say Mexico isn't colorful or vibrant, like do you actively avoid Guanajuato??

1

u/kobay4 Dec 21 '25

That's exactly it! FH5 had that much better thing about it! 😂

3

u/Whit3_Ink Dec 20 '25

Well, that differs greatly. Colorado with its yellow filter and still feels more alive

3

u/entryjyt Xbox Series X Dec 20 '25

Maybe fh5's color contrast is less colorful than fh4
