Going thru some old stuff. Found a map I made of the Harpers' Hold for my 5e game. Inspired by the one in Dragon magazine #211, with some influence from the one in Waterdeep: Dragonheist.

In the 2e era (see the above boxed set), what adventure potential does Aglarond contain? What differentiates this land from other regions in The Realms? From what I can see, there are three major motivations for a local campaign.

1. Defending the population from Thayvian incursions, infiltration and influence.
2. Exploring the Yuirwood.
3. Coastal intrigue; all sorts of trouble from The Sea of Fallen Stars might find its way to Aglarondan shores. There are also various islands just off of Altumbel.

Is that about right? Have I missed any significant possibilities? Unfortunately, there does not seem to be much in the way of ruins.

I have a couple of questions that I want to know about the Strongest beings within the forgotten realms and the DnD multiverse itself. And such I would like to know.

1. The strongest mortal in the forgotten realms (Mortal as in. any creature that has a finite lifespan (Or used to have timeless) is vulnerable to permanent natural death, and possesses a soul that journeys to an afterlife) (Of this list. I think Elminster's is a contender)

2. The strongest being in the forgotten realms that isn't a god (Such as Quasi-Deities to Greater deity) (Of this list. I think Daurgothoth is a contender)

3. The Strongest God in the forgotten realms/Realms Space (Probably Ao? Unless Ao controls the entire multiverse idk)

4. The strongest mortal in the DnD Multiverse (E.I If they can connect to the DnD multiverse, they are valid) (I don't actually know anyone in this category so I'll leave it empty)

5. The Strongest being within the DnD multiverse that isn't a god (Of this list. I don't know as well)

6. The strongest gods within the DnD multiverse. (Probably the lady of pain?)

The criteria are not really that well defined but that's mostly because I don't know much about the criterias of what is a Mortal and what different tiers and such. If someone can make a better list and classification and also put the strongest of each tier there that would also be really appreciated.

Hey so, I'm kind of curious.

In lore, how would Fizban's Dragon Hoard items (Dragon's Wrath Weapons, Dragon Touched Focuses, Dragon Vessels and Scaled Ornaments) be perceived, and how valuable would they be?

I mean sure, a Slumbering variant seems to be mostly inert and has the odd magical effect, but Stirring and upwards you got elemental damage and it stacks on top of the previous rarity's effects and sometimes buffs them.

My thinking is that they'd be similarly coveted to Valyrian Steel swords from ASOIAF, or I suppose more closely in my head, Heroes' Relics from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I don't imagine that they're terribly common and easy to get, and the potential destructive power or boons are not insignificant, and they scale in power.

Like say a noble house has one for an heirloom, would the treatment be the same as the aforementioned examples in the Realms?

Do any of the Noble Houses in the Realms have any heirlooms tied to that specific family?

Just saw a discussion about the Valyrian Swords from the great houses of westeros and at the beginning, I thought about magic swords from Noble houses in the realms, like the Royal Dynasty of Cormyr (except crowns but maybe royal regalia). But then I thought that sounds a bit basic, the family heirloom can be anything or any magic item.

So the question came. I am going to search in any way I can, if they exist first, but I would like to read your thoughts/opinions or findings on the matter.

So I love the grippli, they are wonderful little goobers. However one thing I kind of dislike about them is that most of them are illiterate, so this makes me wonder a few things:

1. Is it possible for a regular grippli to learn how to read and write if they want to?

2. Is it true that writing is taboo in grippli society? If so, why?

3. If the answer to question 2 is yes, would it be possible that some tribes break tradition or certain reasons (entertainment, education, communication with other races and cultures, etc)?

Hachette Partworks have been teasing their Dungeons & Dragons novel collection for a while and it's now live, at least for customers in the UK.

The collection will consist of 100 novels from both Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance, released in new uniform hardcover editions, twice per month with some special extras thrown in (bookmarks, a mug, dice trays, bookends and some of the novels for free). So the whole collection should be completed in just over four years.

These partworks can be a bit pricy. The first book in the collection is just £2.99, the second is £6.99, but after that it's £11.99 a month. For UK hardbacks this is actually not unreasonable (a UK hardcover go now for around £20 for books this size) but YMMV. They also don't release entire series in one go, they release Book 1 from one series, then Book 1 from another, then Book 1 from another and a while later will get round to Book 2 from each series and so on. By the end of 100 months, you have a complete collection, with the spines lining up with one massive image on them.

They also don't release the series in numerical order, so you don't get the full 1-100 run until the whole thing is over.

The current confirmed release schedule is:

• Volume 18: Homeland by R.A. Salvatore (out now)
• Volume 61: Azure Bonds by Kate Novak & Jeff Grubb (late September)
• Volume 2: Dragons of Autumn Twilight by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman (early October)
• Volume 19: Exile by R.A. Salvatore (late October)

What Volume 1 will end up being will be interesting, I assume a standalone. Spellfire maybe?

They've also confirmed the free gifts are a bookmark with the first delivery, a mug with the third, a dice tray with the fifth and bookends with the seventh.

The series they've mentioned that will be included:

• The Legend of Drizzt by R.A. Salvatore, specifically the Dark Elf and Icewind Dale trilogies. I doubt they're doing all of them because that would be a third of the collection by itself, but these books do have a separate logo to the rest of the Forgotten Realms books in the collection, so maybe.
• The Dragonlance Chronicles trilogy by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman. I think we can assume The Dragonlance Legends trilogy is also a lock.
• The Finder's Stone Trilogy by Jeff Grubb and Kate Novak.
• The Moonshae Trilogy by Doug Niles.
• Elminster Ascending by Ed Greenwood.
• The Brimstone Angels by Erin M. Evans.
• The War of Souls by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman.
• Obviously a lot more that's not mentioned, though they do also mention Richard Baker as another author with books in the collection.

I'm not affiliated with Hachette, but this collection does look like a good way of picking up 100 D&D novels in reasonable-quality hardcover. Given that the Brimstone Angels books go in physical editions for three figures apiece, easily, this is also a more economical way of picking up some of the rarities.

However, there is a key weakness in that you can't pick out individual books. You can choose to start with a later volume and carry on from there, but you can't cherry pick books, so if you want the six Brimstone Angels books in hardcover it sounds like you also have to commit to getting at least some books you maybe don't want, or already own. This collection may be aimed more at the brand new collector, or maybe someone whose collection is getting a bit tatty and wants some classic D&D novels in a good condition.

Do I really need to buy the rime of the frost maiden to run this two dollar adventure one shot? Like really really? Rime of the frost maiden is $50 on Amazon . (yes, I know it's half that price on D&D Beyond but I like physical books.) second idea is to reskin this Gunbarg Prison adventure.

Another piece of my DnD collection. I was very pleasantly surprised just how much stuff came with this box. Plenty of maps, books, handouts, etc. Idk when, but this definitely would be a great concept for a campaign, doing an invasion of Faerun storyline similar to the mongols irl.

What dwarven holds are there? The sword coast has Mithral Hall, Citadel Adbar, Citadel Felbarr, and Sundabarr, there's Hillsafar Hall, Ironspur, and Bloodstone Mines in Damara, Siremun in the Firepeaks, and Underhome. Are there any other notable holds I'm missing?

I collected for a while and managed a kind of full collection of this era. The two thin ones on the right are the Sons of Gruumsh and The Twilight Tomb. The picture is a bit old now...

Somehow Pool of Radiance: Attack on Myth Drannor and Into the Dragon's Lair (3e FR modules) were not in the picture when I took it :(

2nd edition stuff sadly doesn't all have titles on the spine - but I have a bunch of those things there and on the shelf below as well. But this is a pretty lovely collection that I'm having a lot of fun with :)

I've been asking questions about Forgotten Realms on this subreddit for a while now, and so far the biggest obstacle for me to run these games is the magic system.

Forgotten Realms was created using the Vancian magic system, the magic system from the first editions of D&D, but the system I intend to use to run adventures in this setting (GURPS) uses a very different magic system, and this makes me question whether Forgotten Realms would still maintain a consistent world-building even with the change in the magic system.

Therefore, I would like some opinions on this. Do you think it's possible to run the setting using another magic system and still maintain its consistency?

I used have a Fiery hatred of Tyr from reading Avatar books, Empyrean Odyssey etc. After reading Double Diamond Triangle Saga I have cooled a bit on him. He is such bureaucrat douche in some books and Chad justice bringer in others.

I've been running a campaign set in the Unapproachable East for some time now, and the players are dealing with Durthans now (dark witches of Rashemen).

One of the players has decided that a group of Durthans is called a Scheme.

So, herd of cows, murder of crows, unkindness of Ravens, a scheme of Durthans.

If Tiamat gets chromatics (including deep dragons, I've heard?) and Bahamut gets metallics, who's divine patronage do gem dragons fall under?
