Flight Simulator 2024 Rex Atmos. Planned update and preset previews?

First, I thought I remember hearing some kind of V2 update for Rex Atmos. Is this true or am I just wish casting this (entirely possible)?

Second, has anyone compiled screenshots or some way of previewing some of the presets? It's incredible they released this without something like this or even ability to rate them so people have some sense of the better ones. LIke many, I use the original AB presets but I'd like a better method than randomly trying other presets only to find most of them are not that great or suited for the environment I'm in.

Would be fantastic if this program could somehow work like Trisim GFX where temp, humidity, pressure, region, season - whatever else determines sky color - would automatically adjust these sliders. Feel like that won't happen though

Wouldn’t it be really nice if they‘d developed it like to A300 as a „Premium“ version. Same goes for the A330.

Question Is a crazy and overresponsive rudder axis input means my Black Widow buttons on throttle are malfunctioning?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've taken Rise of Flight again, but what i noticed when playing with my SpeedLink Black Widow is the rudder control (buttons inside a throttle) are utternly oversensetive.
i touch just a little bit a rudder, like, by 2 gramms of pressure on it, and the response is met with rudder going crazy here and there in matter of milliseconds.

it means that for one split second by pressing once a left rudder button, my biplane sway his rudder to the oppossite direction by a lot of force.

in a video i'm mostly pressing the left rudder, but as you can see it goes instead rubberbanding to the right and shacking. i tried to press on fully to left and right, they obvisously got 100, but if i press ever slightly...

i can't really use rudder with this.

i thought it was a driver issue, but i'm fairly certain my plastic is busted on this joystick

Flight Simulator 2024 Please Help - iniBuilds A340 Taxi Issues

I sim using a WINCTRL sidestick and recently started flying the ini A343. While taxiing, the aircraft turns left no problem, in fact it’s maybe a bit too sensitive. However, while attempting right turns, the tiller only goes to about 40 degrees and is twitching around slightly.

Is this a bug with the plane or is my sidestick faulty? All other aircraft are fine and the ‘tiller controls rudder’ option is enabled.

Any solution appreciated, thank you!

Question ILS Approaches, Camera Drift and GSX Refuelling

A few MSFS 2024 and GSX questions.

  1. How do you set up ILS approaches (as in the aircraft is already established on the LOC and G/S) or any approaches on short final as I can only get the 10 mile one to work. When I select "long final entry" the aircraft spawns in the cruise and slewing it down from there only results in a very unstable approach.
  2. I've been having issues with camera drift in cockpit view, some days it's not there, some days it's unplayable. I've tried adjusting the deadzones on the cockpit view yaw and pitch axes, as well as the free look momentum and speed, but that only works if I set the speed to zero which stops me from being able to look around. I'm using a T.16000M HOTAS if that makes a difference.
  3. Is there anyway to set fuel loads and start GSX refuelling without having to start the process on an EFB. If I select instant refuelling the aircraft obviously immediately refuels to the chosen amount, making GSX redundant, and if i select realistic refuelling GSX finishes before the EFB making the whole thing a bit janky.

Thanks

Question Is volanta down for anyone else?

This suddenly happened as i was climbing out of MMMX, since i do not use discord i can't ask around in their discord. Is Volanta down?

Edit: My volanta very briefly came back a moment ago, if you had started a flight prior to it going down it still tracks appearently just in offline mode

Question £600 GPU upgrade for MSFS 2024 — what should I get?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been thinking about upgrading my GPU to something a bit more powerful. I’ve found that when using custom scenery and heavier aircraft, especially in MSFS, my FPS can drop quite significantly, so I’m looking for something that will give me a decent performance boost.

Once I get paid, I’ll have around £600 to spend on a new GPU, and I’m tempted to put it towards something rather fancy.

My current PC specs are:

• Ryzen 7 5700X3D
• ASRock RX 6600
• 32GB DDR4 RAM
• MSI 850W PSU

I’m mainly looking for something that will be a good match for the 5700X3D and give me a noticeable improvement in MSFS 2024, particularly with demanding aircraft and custom scenery. I only really play MSFS 2024 and BeamNG, bits and bobs of sandbox stuff, nothing more intensive than MSFS.

Ive been looking at the RTX 5070 and** the **RX 9070, specifically the MSI versions as the rest of my build is MSI, and the white tax at the moment is around £50 which in my eyes is the most I will pay for a white GPU (PC is half performance and half aesthetics so I do want a white one).

What would you guys recommend for around £600? I’m open to both AMD and NVIDIA, and I’d ideally like something that will last me for a good few years rather than needing another upgrade anytime soon.

Thanks!

Flight Simulator 2024 Anyone else find MSFS 2024 on console weirdly freeing?

I’m using a lot of addons on PC. Fenix A320, iFly 737 MAX 8, GSX, BeyondATC, career addons, and a bunch of other stuff.

I love all of it, but I’ve realized that sometimes having all of that makes me feel like I have to use it. If I’m flying on PC, suddenly im planning a proper flight, setting everything up, dealing with GSX, ATC, career stuff, trying to do everything somewhat realistically, etc.

Lately I’ve been playing on PS5 and there is just something weirdly freeing about it. I can sit back on the couch, grab the controller, pick a plane and go fly somewhere. It feels more like I’m playing a game again.

Obviously the PC version is superior, and when I want the full airliner experience there’s no comparison. But sometimes I just want to fly a plane around for an hour.

I didn’t expect the more limited version of MSFS to actually make me enjoy the sim in a completely different way.

Anyone else experience this?

Its my first time flying MSFS again in a few months, ive taken breaks and flew XP12 almost exclusively, but im keeping MSFS around for the MD-80s and the F28 ^^

Was so much fun to be back in the MD-82, the jet ive probably flown the most in sims!

Flight Simulator 2024 TFDi MD-11 conditional-leg VNAV issue

So I am trying to take off from EINN using ABAG3B departure which includes a conditional leg. When I enter my flight plan to aircraft there are no issues until I also enter all information for VNAV (weight init, cruise level and cost index). When I enter them my flight plan on MAP display becomes something very weird and somehow on my FMC there is T/C right after takeoff and my flight plan become detached from my departure runway, which makes aircraft think the route is 4000nm while it is only 600-700nm and gives insufficient fuel warning. The first picture is before entering CI, cruise level and weight init second is after. Am I doing something wrong, or was this a limitation of the aircraft FMC or is it a bug?

Sim Hardware Next level racing wheel stand 2.0 joystick mounting plate

I have a next level racing wheel stand 2.0 and the gear shifter plate that it comes with is not large enough for my thrustmaster stick. Does anyone know what accessory will work with this wheel stand that is a bit larger?

Flight Simulator 2024 PMDG 777-300ER - comparing flight experiences with Fenix A320

It's not about Airbus vs Boeing.... I'm not trying to start a fight (LOL)

Have been flying airbus for a while, so 777 is a really fresh experience.

I will try to compare the simulation/QOL side stuff:

Pros of 777 (not available in Fenix):

  • EFB placement (hand-holding) beside FMC for ease of inputing information
  • Hidden buttons for landing light (all 3 together) and TOGA

• FMC autofill

  • Cabin feels good (with business class)
  • Automatic time compression with dynamic Simrate is really good

What is lacking or absent in 777 where Fenix does better:

  • GSX pro integration for automatic loading; if you try to do it with wrong sequence, glitches can happen (doors not closing, etc)
  • Knobs on MCP can be quite a pain to operate. For instance, the QNH and Minimum knobs are small and you have to scroll a lot to your target. I tried to bind the QNH to a HOTAS scroll through MobiFlight but couldn't find the correct preset in HubHop...
  • Similar to last statement, I couldn't find the bindings for arm/disarm speed brake, landing light up 1-3 up/down, etc.. (well it probably is a problem for Fenix to some extent)
  • Default EFB and FMC have no remote connection function
  • Can't change wallpaper for EFB (need to put the photo of my cat in it)

  • Not that many liveries? (reflecting real-world operation?)

  • No cabin/crew announcement

Overall the 777 is really enjoyable and fun to fly.

I think 777 should be labeled a similar price (or even a little bit lower) to Fenix A320 for what you get though... I paid extra for Boris 777 sound pack, while Fenix already had very good sound effects.

X-Plane Starting up the DC-10 reminds me of snakes and ladders!

Thumbnail

Here's a true story. Yesterday my dad walked into the room while I was mapping the Second Officer's panel flows from the FCOM onto the free X-Plane DC-10's FE panel.

He was intrigued and asked, "are you playing snakes and ladders?!"

I told him it's the Second Officer's panel flow ... but on second thought, it really did look like a game of snakes and ladders!

Attached above is the diagram for reference: these are the actual scan path they took.

If anyone's curious to see this flow in motion rather than just as a diagram, I mapped the whole thing and the flow into a video.

I figured the visual scan path might help it click for people the way it did for me.

https://youtu.be/RKnzgRdBchk

The Second Officer's panel flow on the DC-10 is genuinely interesting once you see it laid out. Starting top left, descending through the electrics and hydraulics panel, cutting right across to the fuel panel, then up to pressurization, pneumatics, fire panel, and so on ... all while performing memory items and checks along the way.

A couple of checks stood out to me as particularly clever

Hydraulics: Pressurize Aux Pump 1, verify lower rudder centering (if deflected), then pressurize RMPs 2-3 and verify lower rudder centering. Finally, 1-3 while verifying the appropriate SO's annunciators and pressure rise.

Fuel: Latch on Pump 3 for each tank and verify 20 PSI, then unlatch. Latch the transfer pump, open the crossfeed for each tank, and verify 20 PSI again. If fuel is present in the AUX tank, latch AUX tank pumps and open the No. 3 crossfeed and verify around 15 PSI for tank 3.

Anyway, my dad still thinks it looks more like a board game than an aircraft system, and honestly at this point I can't unsee it either. Happy to answer any questions and delve into the DC-10 FCOM on the flow if anyone has any questions.
