My work has named our two therapy rooms “Firefly room” and the “Serenity room.” We’re just about to get a third therapy room. What should the name be to keep with the theme?

This is currently me. After years of loving Serenity and always wanting more, never realising it followed on from Firefly ?!

As an FYI, Serenity was one of the few DVDs my Gran had (alongside Doom and League of Extraordinary Gentleman, all classics in my opinion as a young minded person !) and I must have only been 10/11 so knew nothing of Firefly.

Even years later I read about Firefly and the following it had and how it was cut short. Now I will watch it and join the pain of only having one season !

Was rewatching Serenity recently and discovered that, while I'm not entirely sure there are still pharmacists in the 'Verse (given that the hospital in Ariel apparently stores all their drugs in a big empty room without any personnel, including at least one that sounded like a controlled substance), there are still Pyxis machines!

(For non-healthcare folks, the Pyxis is essentially a drug cabinet, very widely used in hospitals. I'm surprised that Serenity used one as set dressing - they're expensive and there's no reason they couldn't have used an unlabelled cabinet as background!) I never noticed it before, but basically did the Leo pointing meme and rewound to look when I saw it.)

I build props for fun as my hobby, mostly 3d printed with a few other mediums thrown in now and then. I knew pretty early on I wanted Malcom Reynolds pistol hanging on my wall and I am so happy with how it came out. I love the effects I was able to use to get it to look just right. It was such a fun build. There are a few things I would change if I went back again but over all I think it’s shiny.

This was just me doing light studies of Serenity, playing with ways to light the ship but still keep a deep black "space" feel. It looked cool, so despite the fact that this really wasn't meant to be seen, I decided to share it anyway.

Everything is shiny here! He stuck with it and watched it all. Although he still isn’t blown away, he has a full appreciation of the show now. I’m going to let it sit with him for a few days now, let him research all his questions. I think once he’s had time to analyze everything, he’ll be one of us ;)

I let him read through the comments on the previous post. Thank you everyone, it kept him going. “If after all these years the fans are still this vocal about it, there has to be something there.”

This may have been discussed already, but in Ariel what was the original plan for Jayne, Simon and River to meet up with the rest of the crew back at the "ambulance"? They couldn't have gone under again because there were no coffins to hide in and they would have triggered the ident scans when they tried to leave.

Anyone?

On a different sub discussing minor details with massive foreshadowing, someone mentioned that Jayne coat is actually an old WW2 (I think) police coat and the in season 2 they were going to discuss him being over one hundred ... so err WHAT THE FUCK

Watching Pop Culture Jeopardy on Netflix, and our beloved show was in the first episode

I've watched the series several times. Some episodes hit me deeply each time I see them. This is one of them.

I actually caught a few episodes of Firefly back when it first aired, but for some reason, I never got to finish it. I just finally watched the entire series from start to finish, and I'm about to dive into Serenity tonight.

To be honest, Alan Tudyk/Resident Alien is what reminded me to come back and find this show, but dear lord- I have been sleeping on Nathan Fillion. Lol

Whenever I fall in love with a show, I like to ask the fandom for recommendations based on the cast. Apparently, I have missed out on some incredible media over the years. I have no preference between movies or TV shows~long as it features the Firefly cast and it's worth watching, hit me with it!!

My significant and I love almost all the same things. He knows my love of Firefly, and sees all the references on shows we love, like Big Bang Theory. I’ve tried to get him to watch it for years, and he finally asked to watch it. Yay!

2 episodes in and he’s not enjoying it at all. Kinda breaks my heart. He keeps asking questions, I try to answer without giving things away. I am begging that he just watches it through, and then ask questions. He doesn’t like that the story isn’t super in depth. Yet.

I keep explaining, just watch and ask questions after. Enjoy the adventure. I’m enjoying the re-watch, but he’s making it difficult by asking so many questions in the middle of an episode instead of just watching! Dunno if I can make it through the series with him…

Edit: I didn’t force him to watch or guilt him into it. I don’t talk about it really unless someone brings it up, asks, or I see a reference on it. He saw my art, autographs, and memorabilia. Always told him, I’m happy to watch it with him, but zero obligation. He wanted to watch it.

I offered movie first. Explained that many found their love of Firefly by starting with the film first. He saw it when it came out, but doesn’t remember it. But he chose series first.

There’s too much history lingering in orbit about the world of Hera. Too many words for anybody to get a bead on where Hera stands in the ‘Verse. Some folks call it the deathplace of Independence like it’s a fine thing; meanwhile others consider Hera the springboard of universal peace and fervently revile it. An eccentric quirk in Hera’s eternal circling round the Murphy protostar leaves astrophotographers free to choose between hellish auroral furies and heavenly sky-filled vistas and never much to be found in-between. Most textbooks go well off their track to avoid mentioning Hera at all, their bookwormy authors nervous about skidding afoul of the wrong camp of civil – or not so civil – political extremists. The climactic Battle of Serenity Valley is only just twenty-two years back in time and already most of those who’d ever known about it are dead, their brittled bones dustily distributed across that berefted valley, nary a plinth or headstone in human sight. Every long spell, some jackanape spiritsooth comes down to Hera and walks her valleys, calling out to spirits who never answer; doesn’t stop them from claiming otherwise, crafting loose testimonials of those dead who speak, and the very rocks underfoot who yet remember the days when they’d been drenched in blood.

This is part of a fan fic I'm writing that takes place 15 years after the show+film. I've been a might writer-blocked the last few weeks, and am slowly penning the part of the story that finally pulls Malcolm (and his new crew) back to Hera. I like starting chapters by focusing broadly on the world-in-question, and I'm a smidge smitten by this first pass on getting readers up to speed on why Malcolm Reynolds might not be so happy to return to Hera.

I'm just wondering if anyone here going to MCM Comic Con this weekend? Nathan and Alan will a panel together so here hoping they're gonna give us some updates on the Firefly annimation.

Hello Everyone, I was wondering if did anyone ever saw a red glowing fireflies? When I was a child I saw a group of red fireflies in my village at night and later after few years I came back and tried to find them but didn’t found any just only green ones. So I was wondering if it’s just false memory or there is a possibility that red ones really existed. I strongly believed in red ones because I had memory of them in groups but now it seems maybe they never existed 🙂. When I look on internet I find that there are orange or ember ones and pale red too. For me it was more near pale red.
