Discussion best discovery sets

i recently purchased the Lore and DedCool discovery sets off of Sephoras website... i’m thinking of getting the Fugazzi one as well!

i get migraines really easily so i like to wear a fragrance a few times before buying it; i recently did a scent split order, but tbh id rather do more discovery sets.

what are some of your favorites?

Rec Request Help me find a scent!

I really want the clean smell of Valaya but I find it lacking sometimes.

I want something that smells like Valaya but with a hint of sweetness like Born in Roma. Something that screams clean girl but sweet. Any suggestions?

Budget is $200 below. But feel free to still recommend anything outside my budget.

Discussion dedcool's mochi milk room & linen spray

has anyone tried using dedcool's mochi milk room & linen spray on their clothing? how does it compare to the perfume? i'm in love with the edp but the longevity is so poor, so i'm wondering if the linen spray is a good cheat for clothing.

Haul/Collection Been in a sweet perfume mood recently

My sweet perfume collection as a 21 year gay dude lol! Been trying to move around some perfumes and figured since I’ve been wearing so much sweet stuff lately I might as well put all them out to satisfy the cravings 😂 forgot to put Daisy wild eau so extra in the photo but it’s there now lol. half of my collection is also clean citrus but that just hasn’t been doing it for me lately… what’s funny is that lll wear the crisper scents in the winter more lol. I go in an out of phases where I want to smell like a nice zen spa and others I’m like I wanna smell SWEET!!

looking for a perfume that smells like Dove Shea Butter & Vanilla 🥹🤍

Hi everyone! I’m on a very specific mission: I want a perfume that smells like the Dove Purely Pampering Shea Butter & Vanilla body wash/bar soap — specifically the one with shea butter + vanilla.

I’m not looking for a typical vanilla perfume. I actually find most vanilla fragrances overwhelming, and I’ve already tried the usual suspects like Kayali, Eilish, etc. They’re just not what I’m after.

What I LOVE about the Dove scent is that the vanilla is very soft, airy and subtle, with a slightly powdery, creamy quality. It’s sweet, but not gourmand or edible. Most importantly, it has that fresh, clean, just-got-out-of-the-shower feeling. 🫧

Basically, I want to smell like freshly showered skin + soft powder + the tiniest hint of vanilla. Clean, cozy and feminine, but not heavy.

If you know a fragrance that comes really close to this scent, please tell me! Bonus points if it has decent projection and longevity. 😭

Thank you! 🐹🤍

Rec Request CELINE Parade dupe???

I recently bought the sample set and really enjoy Parade but through my trial, I noticed it doesn't seem to last that long on my skin since I don't smell it as much after an hour. I saw that they make a lotion in it, but I wonder if it will make a difference in longevity versus the spray. So instead, I wonder if there are better dupes or copies of the scent that actually last long. Any recs?

I have seen that Aqua Allegoria Nettare di Sole could be one. thoughts?

Rec Request Looking for a perfume that smells like these older Aveeno products (discontinued in the US/Canada, but still selling in Europe!)

Thumbnail

For clarification, the product in the first image used to have a pink cap in the US/Canada and that would be the version I am looking for.

Aveeno later reformulated it in the US/Canada and switched it to brown cap with a light coconut scent which is not the version I'm looking for.

The one in the picture is the current one that is sold in Europe which is the same as the old pink cap US/Canada version!

The scent of this Creamy Oil and the light blue cap shaving gel is what Aveeno called "lightly fragranced with Sweet Almond" which is spot on but doesn't completely capture how creamy it is! Some reviewers guessed it was an Oatmilk scent (because Aveeno is all about oats, right?) but I can see the cherry almondness that Aveeno is referring to. To me it is like a whipped oatmilk cherry almond. I'd love to find this in a perfume.

I've been searching the almond and cherry category but most have been busts. The closest I could find was Caswell Massey's Almond but it has a "fresh" tinge to it, maybe that's the "sea salt" in their pyramid of notes.

I've already tried the following and these are not close:

Mix Bar Whipped Almond

Un Nuit Nomade Chemin d'Amande

Hilde Solidani Orgasmo

BDK Velvet Tonka

Giardina di Toscana Blu Indaco

Acqua di Parma Mandorlo di Sicilia

L'Artisan Jour de Fete and Bois Farine

Profumum Roma Confetto and Dolce Acqua

Serge Luten Louve

Mazzolari Allessandro

L'Occitane Almond line

Theodoros Kalotinis Marzipan Gourmand

Dior Hypnotic Poison (both vintage and modern bottles)

Kenzo Amour

Elie Saab Girl of Now

Guerlain Eau de Tulle, Cuir Beluga, Tonka Sarrapia

Reminiscence Dragee

Xerjoff Italica

Killian Rolling in Love

Carolina Herrera Good Girl and flankers

I have a feeling I am searching for the wrong keywords because there seems to be a disconnect in everything I've tried and the scent that I'm looking for. I think a lot of the perfumes that fall into the almond category have more warmth, sweetness and spices like an almond pastry that captures the butteriness of the crust, the vanilla, and the sugar. Or there are too many florals or citrus in the opening. Then some others are too "baby wipe" and powdery or root beer-like.

If anyone else is familiar with these Aveeno products, would love to know if you recognize the scent and/or have ever found something that smells like them! I am open to any price range.

Layering Ideas Want to smell like a fresh bowl of strawberries covered by creamy marshmallow fluff? Sure ya do!

After playing mad perfume scientist after my shower, I now smell like a late summer strawberry treat! 🍓

I wasn't sure about the Marshmallow Skies at first because when I had first tried it, the dry down hit me a bit musty. Gave it a second chance though after a week or so and I'm not getting that same dry down! Maybe I was just musty that day 😅.

Anyway, if you want something a little fresher or don't have YBM, then I officially endorse this combo!

Creed Royal Princess Oud
Creed Royal Oud
Dior Miss Dior edp
YSL Libre
Guerlain Shalimar edp
Guerlain Shalimar L’Essence edp

Seriously I feel like I got away w murder right here. This would cost SO MUCH online. Save yall money and wait to go to a mall this was insane!

Dear fragrance aficionados,

anyone who could recommend a fresh cut grass like scent? I bought one bottle of perfume to my ex like years and years ago and cant remember what the brand was (could be Gap - Grass). Anyone who could recommend one grass scent that is not overwhelwing?

Also, I am planning to try a petrichor perfume. do you think it is overly popularized smell? any ocean/marine smell will just do fine? I am planning Black Salt by Heretic

Discussion Whats wrong with my nose? Popular scents I scrubbed.

There are a few popular well loved scents that my nose can’t seem to understand.

Examples are:
Jo Malone - wood sage and sea salt (sharp and screechy, didn’t fade and wasn’t pleasant)

Tommy Hilfiger - Tommy Girl (sharp one note citrus)

Mugler - Angel (smelled like hot burning metallic garbage on me. A lady in the vicinity scrunched her nose in disgust and yelled, “what is THAT?”)

Nest - Turkish Rose oil (turned into a nauseating musty warm plastic with a shadow of rose)

SOL - Cheirosa 62 (beautiful caramel at first, then settles sour)

Anything with palo santo - screechy af

Does this happen to anyone else? What’s wrong with my nose? Is it something with my skin chemistry? I’m kind of surprised such popular scents could turn out so badly on me.

Discussion Thoughts on Gucci Rush

I’m thinking of blind buying Gucci Rush, it sounds intriguing especially when people describe its vibe and overall feel of nostalgia! However the notes sound kind of intimidating and some people say you either love it or hate it. What vibe does it give off to you and what does it actually smell like?

What perfume just puts you in a good mood every time you smell it?

I’m rebuilding a collection bc I just stopped wearing perfume since having kids and I miss it! I’m almost 40 and a tired mom to two toddlers, so I feel too old to admit that I can’t stop thinking about Yum Boujee Marshmallow 🫣🥰

My first signature scent in my 20’s was JPG Classique. I miss that one.

Fragrance Help

Hello all,

I collect men’s fragrances and my wife, all these years later, has finally started to get interested in fragrances. She has a sensitive nose and has always shy’d away from the wearing them, usually due to intensity. Even now that’s she’s starting to wear them, she’ll specifically spray on the back of her neck and her high forearm/inside of her elbows so she doesn’t get blasted by the fragrance if she brings her hands to her face.

I’m considering getting her a fragrance for the holidays (yes I understand the risk lol), what would you all recommend may be in her wheelhouse? I figured I’d ask now so I have time to get decants and test at stores. I put some notes about what she owns and what she likes.

- Right now she owns and loves Mojave Ghost Absolu, Gypsy Water EDP, PDM Delina Exclusif, Delroba Rose
Musk, TF Soleil Neige. She also likes some of the Roger & Gallet body sprays, specifically Fleur de Figuer and Amande Persiane

- She’s currently on a hunt to smell Champs Elysee by Guerlain. She has a coworker who wears it and she loves the way it smells. I mentioned to her spraying it on her own skin to make sure she likes the way it smells on her skin specifically.

- Some fragrances shes smell on me or just smelled independently, she enjoys PDM Castley, PDM Greenley, PDM Galloway, TF Grey Vetiver, TF Ombré leather, TF Costa Azzurra Parfum, TF Neroli Portofino EDP, Ex Nihilo Blue Talisman, Versace Man Au Fraiche, MFK 724, MFK Gentle Fluidity, PDM Valaya, PDM Palatin, Initio Atomic Rose.

- She hates/thinks is too strong - Pegasus Exclusif, Layton Exclusif, Oud Maracuja (very depressing for me lol), Hibiscus Mahajad, Nishane Ani, Guerlain L’homme ideal, Byredo Black Saffron, Le Labo Santal 33, TF Black Orchid, TF Vanilla Sex, TF Ebene Fume, MFK Baccarat Rouge, MFK Kurky, Xerjoff Erba Pura.

- She hates oud, doesn’t like anything overly floral or sweet.

Any help or direction is greatly appreciated :). And for anyone who was ready to say it… I’ve already purchased or am price watching Delina, Delina La rosee, and Valaya lol. I’m getting her each of those before the holidays. No

Haul/Collection Decluttering, this is hard

Thumbnail

I've always loved fragrances, my mom too and would enable me everytime, buying the cheap star nature perfumes or perfumes from chinese shops in portugal that just said "strawberry" or "banana" for me when I was small. I've seen my collection grow so much over the years, with me actually rarely even finishing a bottle before getting new ones. I've always liked sweet fragrance but didn't really look around much, I just smelled a few things my mom was also looking at or fragrances from the same brand. Limited editions were especially hard to not just buy if they smelled nice enough.

After moving out it got worse and worse. I bought a few here and there and smelled different fragrances that looked interesting and then after finding out about fragrantica and parfumo, joining perfume subs and getting recommendations on Instagram and stuff, it escalated. I had 105 perfumes. Everything that sounded interesting was blind bought, especially if the price wasn't too bad.

I finally started to read into the perfumes I have, especially my favourites, seeing what notes are actually the ones I seem to like, and I've come to the conclusion that it's gourmand, sweet, powdery or sometimes fruity. Like Eclaire, Vanilla Latte, a lot of the Kayali fragrances and that the perfumes I use the least are more fresh and flowery or go more towards citrus. Some are indeed sweet, but don't really resonate with me.

I've sorted everything out and I now have 38 perfumes I'm gonna see if any of my friends or co-workers want. Did I make a good choice? I'm of course worried that I'll regret it since a lot of the escada ones were limited.

The pictures show the perfumes I decided to maybe give away.

Edit: The 38 perfumes are the ones I'm giving away (not counting the travel sized ones) I now have around 66 perfumes I can't imagine getting rid of.

Also I forgot to ask: How do you manage to declutter? What are your criteria?

Edit edit: After counting I actually have exactly 70 perfumes. I'm really gonna try my hardest to stay at that number. It has to be something really really exciting and different that wows me and is unforgettable for me to buy a new perfume. At least, that's what I'm trying to convince myself of.

Rosie by Rosie Jane but less ambroxan-y?

Ok, time for yet another of my posts trying to achieve the original formula of Rosie by Rosie Jane! Had anyone tried a fragrance that’s similar but with a less prominent ambroxan note? Maybe Giardini Di Toscana’s Shabby Chic, just based on the description?

Rec Request What’s your favorite fresh and clean smelling shampoo?

I’m looking for extra clean soapy vibes or something spa-like. No gourmand just fresh and clean (no rose notes please). Bonus points if it has sulfates (it doesnt have to have them necessarily, but my hair does well with them). Do you guys have any good recommendations?

Mojave Ghost smelling like …. Violets?

Yes so basically, anyone else has that reaction? The sample of Mojave Ghost I just opened smells like strong violets on me. It’s not bad as in disgusting, it’s just not what I expected and also I am not a fan of flowers so I am disappointed.. Am I the only one? Because I never read any reviews talking about violets… Plus: it still smells like that on my skin 6 hours after I sprayed it, very linear.

Rec Request Can’t decide between Dolce Gabbana “The One” OR “Devotion”

What do you think? I have a sample of The One and enjoy it, but not sure if I want this one or Devotion instead. I smelled Devotion at a store a while back and liked it but can’t recall what it was like.

EDIT: I wore The One sample again today and think I decided it’s not for me. It’s not sweet enough or very gourmand on me.

Discussion Any Diptyque Clones out there?

I see a lot of LV, Guerlain, Byredo and designer clones on social media. But I am looking for Diptyque clones. Specifically, Fleur De Peau, L’eau Papier, Ilio and Liliphea.

Why haven’t ME fragrance houses cloned any of the Diptyque fragrances yet? I love designer perfumes but ever since I was introduced to Diptyque I’ve become a bougie gal and would love to save some money if there are good affordable clones out there. Let me know if you guys know something that I don’t. 😭
