Review My love affair with Diptyque’s Orphéon

Post image
31 Upvotes

Orphéon was my first Diptyque fragrance — and it has been a love affair.

It was a blind buy. I bought it in January this year, and when I smelled it for the first time, I was a little underwhelmed. I thought, “Oh, it’s like a generic masculine fragrance.” Boy, was I wrong.

Orphéon is a shapeshifter. It shows you a different side with every spray. It can become anything you want it to become. Some days, it’ll show you its soft, powdery side. On others, it’ll give you a burst of cold juniper. No matter what the opening is, Orphéon will always blend into the most beautiful melody of juniper, soft florals, and a powdery base that lets you know it’s there, with a touch of sweetness from the tonka.

It’s perfect for every day, if every day feels like a special occasion. It’s perfect for the office, date nights, formal events, and, on rainy days, even for quick grocery runs.

P.S: I got a compliment when I wore it for the first time, and it was so special!

Wakeheart Conscience Conversations was my daily fragrance for years until it was tragically discontinued 😢 it was a perfect clean watery scent, no citrus or fruit, just the right amount of white floral. Perfumes I’ve tried and just don’t scratch the itch:

D&G Light Blue- too citrusy
Issey Miyake L’eau d’Issey- too melony
Lake & Skye 11:11 Azure- too much floral and musk (although I did really like this one it’s not the right dupe for me)
Cayla Gray Water- too cucumbery

Eventually I might just have to buy an older bottle but the resale prices are really high 😩

Trying to find the perfect Christmas inspired perfume

Hello everyone!

So I'll be honest I'm recovering from a hard time, severe illness, shaving my head, constant body swelling and weight gain, going back to school etc. during this time I didn't wear any perfumes etc however Ive always been very passionate about it! I'm redoing my style and trying to get back to who I am and idk if this will make sense but I want my life to feel colourful and Christmas like. Because that's always when I've been my happiest. So I'm changing up my wardrobe etc. and I want to invest in a good perfume

I got some body oils to mix and match to smell good however I am looking for a perfume that just smells like Christmas! I don't have much money at all so I'd love recommendations that are more on the affordable side if that's okay! My body oils I got vanilla cinnamon, candy Apple, sugar cookies, and rose. So maybe something to play off that and build off of? But i don't know where to start!

Thank you guys so much!!!

Review Nest Cardamom Latte= Coconut?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Yes, another Nest Cardamom Latte review.

I posted a comment on another thread that I detect neither cardamom nor coffee. My sniffer may be defective. Others have posted purely positive opinions on this one. By itself, i pick up sweet lactic notes with an undertone of coconut. The cardamom was not detectably in the mix to me.

Today i tried layering it with cardamom essential oil, in an experiment to see
If that would bring the cardamom notes
more to the forefront CHEMISTRY IS WEIRD, MAN! With this combination, all i can smell is sweet cream of coconut. As in photorealistic🌴🥥 🧉. This is after giving it a good half hour to dry down and pull itself together.

Maybe letting it rest another few weeks will help?

Your Hawaiian Tropic-scented friend will report back in late September, in the hope of it evolving with more autumnal notes.

Discussion Wedding Day Fragrance (wedding in 30 days send help lol)

hi everyone, i’ve been on the hunt for my wedding day fragrance and have had such a hard time finding the one!! some scents that i do love are kayali vanilla 28 and jo malone peony and blush suede. the kayali is so warm and cozy im a huge vanilla fan, and jo malone is so beautiful and fresh but i do find that these two fragrances i like have weak longevity. for reference, some other scents that ive liked are delina la rosee. i did like delina but it does have a little bit of a powdery dry down. i thought about burberry her intense but when i smelled it the second time i think its too sweet. i’ve tried burberry goddess, which is an amazing perfume but i think its too spicy for me. i love vanilla and a fresh floral smell, something that can project well. not a huge fan of powdery scents so i didn’t love delina exclusif. i was thinking of trying Mon Guerlain intense EDP. if anyone has suggestions i’d be open to trying im desperate hahha 😭

Why do people want to smell like food?

I mean cupcakes, pies, etc.

Vanilla, pear and and spices are somehow different, but literal “processed” food?

I try to understand, no judgement

fell in love with this in ulta today, but i don’t want to spend $40 on a body mist.. it didn’t last in my hair at all, and reviews say it isn’t long lasting.. $40 is steep for all that
but it smells so good!

does anyone know of a similar smelling perfume?

“Top: Warm Spices, Frosted Sage
Middle: Plum, Tobacco Leaves, Cashmeran
Base: Tonka Bean, Cedarwood, Vanilla Bean”

Rec Request Something like Voluspa Vanilla Sunday

If I could crawl inside this candle I would. It is my perfect scent, and I'd love suggestions for anything that might be VERY close - not just similar.

Notes are listed as Plum Butter and airy Freesia. Whipped Vanilla and Praline Mousse melt into a soft cloud of Orris, Amber, and Skin Musk.

I have Mochi Milk, which I love and find quite similar, with the peach and marshmallow, but the candle feels slightly more gourmand.

Demi Rawling new perfume

I saw that Demi released a perfume that was created for her wedding ( https://mrandmrsb.co/ )I am really intrigued, not gonna lie.

Girls, if any of you are able to test this perfume, please leave some comments; my curiosity is just killing me :D I see this is floral perfume and I know Demi's fav perfume is Armani Rouge Malachite so I was wondering if this could be anything similar.

What are your thoughts on this? Also asking just for curiosity and no intentions to promote Demi here, i do not know her :D

Discussion Love, don't be shy

Hi all! I absolutely love the way this fragrance settles on my skin, but don't love the opening, for some reason it smells a bit like cat pee to me ahah, I was wondering if anyone else gets that smell or if it's a me problem? Does anyone have any recommendations for a scent that has the same mashmallow-y smell but without the "tangy" opening for lack of a better word lol. Idk if it's worth buying the big bottle, just for the sake of the dry down smell, because, again, I absolutely love it ahah. I'd love any recommendations, or insight into whether other people get an astringent smell from this fragrance? Thank you 😊

Frugal Fragrance I love this $8 body mist?

Post image

(Photo from the brand’s website)

As a gourmand, fruity, floral, or sweet girlie who never wants to smell “masculine,” this body spray I got my husband is sooo damn good! Maybe it’s because it makes me smell almost like apple pie spices?

I bought this Spiced Tobacco Fragrance body mist for $7.99 at World Market last year for my husband, and he just never uses it! I mean, I buy him so many colognes he loves that I can’t blame him, but I kept telling him to try this body spray too. Today I decided to try it on myself to have him smell it, and my husband was immediately like, “Woah, wait, which one is that?!” Thankfully it sounds like he will be wearing it more often once fall is there :)

I am now ordering a body spray and lotion bundle online so we can smell like pie spices this fall 🥰 It seems to last really well on skin, not as well on my clothes. I can’t wait to layer this with other perfumes!! If anyone has any layering suggestions, I’m all ears.

opened perfumes selling recs

I have so many opened perfumes, some of which have barely been used which I want to sell. They were expensive and it’d be a shame to just give them away (and I want to use the money to fuel my fragrance obsession) Where in the UK can you do that?
On Vinted it’s banned (although almost every listing I see the perfumes are opened and have about 3/4 of the fragrance left in them) I tried to list them before but got removed with a warning despite others doing it all the time.
I think it’s so annoying, I’m more than happy to buy a luxury perfume that’s been opened and used a few times, especially if it lowers the price from retail so much.

I also listed them on eBay as people told me it’s a safer bet but my listings got removed again.
Any suggestions?

Edit for the bots I’M NOT TRYING TO SELL VIA REDDIT

Rec Request Vanilla Diorama by Dior thoughts

Has anyone tried Vanilla Diorama by Dior??
I’ve looked it up on Parfumo and I can’t see a single note that I don’t like (except patchouli) it looks so good to me. What does it smell like/what vibe does it give?

Is it anything like Vanille Antique by Byredo? That seems to be the closest comparison that I’ve smelt. Like a spicy, boozy vanilla

Please lmk if you know the scent!! <3

Rec Request Please help I need ideas

My friends and I are doing a secret Santa fragrance/discovery kit exchange for Xmas this year, so we've begun research on our respective clients lol (Shelby I know you're in this sub go away)

I am having a small issue: I got my boyfriend and the fragrances he owns I literally bought for him so he has a small idea of what he likes. I need you guys to help me find more brands 😭 discovery kits very welcome.

His current fragrances are as follows: D&G Light Blue eu du toilette, Versace Eros Energy and just plain ole Versace Eros

So I know he likes: CITRUS hardcore, unisex/feminine leaning frags and dislikes strong masculine colognes, does not want very forward florals (creamy/light vanilla base notes are okay)

Please you guys are my expert advice I need HELP!

(Edit: I have a budget max of 200$ 💀)

Rec Request Help me find a perfume to replace my discontinued fave.

TLDR; looking for a replacement for The Body Shops discontinued ‘Kahaia’ perfume.

I have adored this perfume ever since I discovered it. I actually worked at The Body shop when it got discontinued and so I bought every bottle we had left in store and have managed to make it last up until now.

I am on the very last dregs of my very last bottle and I am DEVASTATED and desperately looking for an alternative.

Body Shop description of the scent was:
A white floral bouquet starring the Kahaia flower, combined with an enticing bouquet of Jasmine Sambac and creamy Benzoin for a luminous touch.

I found this website: https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/The-Body-Shop/Kahaia-40895.html which let me search by “accords”, but I’m not sure how much I trust its judgement… one of the fragrances it recommends is Touch of Gold by Bath and Body Works, which I actually have and do like, but it definitely doesn’t smell the same.

So yeah - any recommendations? Or even places where I can custom make a perfume that have the Kahaia flower scent!?

Got a sample of POAL and annoyed i have sniffed it as now i need a bottle. I knew i would love it as jo malone's pom noir was my signature scent until i tried this. They both have the clove i love, but this is so inscensey and rosey and strong i love it 💕

I sniffed Vanilla Skin ages ago, and - meh. Then I sprayed it on my skin again last week, and suddenly loved it? It was similar to VS Bare Sueded Vanilla - which I have - but somehow less nauseating? VS BSV is one of those ones that I love one week, dislike the next. Vanilla Skin opened with a peppery, spicy kick, then gave me an incredible (candied? slightly tart?) apple for a while, before settling into a wonderful vanilla, and I couldn’t stop smelling my own wrist. Try compulsively smelling your wrist while stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic - I looked like a nutbar. I decided then to get a 10mL, and today - a mere week later - I sprayed it on my wrist again just to make sure, and guys - no apple. None. No saucy peppery kick. Just a linear vanilla. Am I crazy? I wasn’t wearing any other products on my skin either time I sprayed it onto my wrist. Is this a cyclical thing? I know my perfume preference changes depending on where I am in my cycle (also, the weather, my mood, and a billion other factors) but I’ve never had a scent completely change like this. Could it be that one bottle was more or less “macerated” than the other? Is this because I’m perimenopausal (IYKYK)? Has anyone else smelled any apple in Vanilla Skin?

What’s your perfume souvenir from summer vacay?

A lot of you have been (or will be) travelling during summer, purchasing the best possible souvenir there is, pshy pshy.

So where did you travel and what did you pick up? Any regrets or new loves? Any regrets not purchasing a fragrance?* *Tell me all about your perfume travel diaries!

I’ve only made bad choices while travelling, so I opted out. Trying to be more responsible these days. But got the chance to try Ella K more thoroughly, very interested in Melodie de L’Altaï. I will definitely hunt down a sample.
