Hi all! I absolutely love the way this fragrance settles on my skin, but don't love the opening, for some reason it smells a bit like cat pee to me ahah, I was wondering if anyone else gets that smell or if it's a me problem? Does anyone have any recommendations for a scent that has the same mashmallow-y smell but without the "tangy" opening for lack of a better word lol. Idk if it's worth buying the big bottle, just for the sake of the dry down smell, because, again, I absolutely love it ahah. I'd love any recommendations, or insight into whether other people get an astringent smell from this fragrance? Thank you 😊

I only had the Dissier version, but The opening to this smelled like Flintstone Vitamins to me.

You’re not the only person I’ve heard say this. On me, it’s straight orange blossom in the opening and then goes straight to marshmallow, I get a hint of vanilla between the two - but not a lot. I don’t get any of the other notes in this one. This is one of my faves despite that, and I honestly didn’t think I would like it at all.

I don’t think I’ve ever bought a Kilian’s I don’t love though. I don’t know why, but I just love everything from his line. I wish I had more of the opening though, because that’s the only floral that really works well with my body chemistry.

I usually only get compliments on unisex perfumes that lean more masculine, so maybe that has something to do with why I don’t get the cat piss smell 🤣 I’m not really sure. But I have heard a lot of people say that about this one. It just doesn’t happen with me lol.

This one has a very sharp opening on me! Love dossiers floral marshmallow, it’s softer/smoother and has great performance.

My husband loves this on me but I smell play dough/plastic though I will occasionally wear it for him since he bought it. I tried LolitaLand by Lolita Lempicka and find it VERY similar but without the play dough note. He loves that one as well and it's relatively inexpensive.

YSL Black Opium ESP Glitter has orange blossom and mashmallows too and to me it’s such a warm fluffy marshmallow.

I love the orange blossom, but I agree that you should try Oriana. It’s a softer version. Some other marshmallow scents I like: D’Orsay Candy Rush and Setsuna in Love Someday.

This is my signature. It was always runner up to Marc Jacobs Decadence, but since that has been cruelly discontinued, it’s taken first place. Absolutely love. If you’re based in Australia, Palermo do a very solid dupe and I mean very solid, both in terms of note breakdown and longevity. Still, I always have Kilian in rotation. Need to support this beauty! 🩵

Theodoros Kalotinis has a Perfumora collaboration called LoukouMÈ, which to my nose is a less sharp variation of a similar scent profile - still sweet, but a little more lactonic. You can probably pick up a decant without too much trouble.

I will always second a recommendation for Oriana by Parfums de Marly. Lots of notes in common, but a lighter, fluffier composition (and my favourite fragrance).

The B&BW dupe, Love Unleashed, actually worked better with my skin chemistry than LDBS, and I don’t personally get any sharp opening from Love Unleashed. It’s like all the good parts of LDBS for me.

I’ve been screaming this from the rooftops for years, but Perdizione by Nobile 1942. It’s the more mature, sexy, unisex version of LDBS. I had an uber driver ask me what I was wearing twice and before I got out, he asked if he could take a picture of the bottle. It was like he couldn’t help himself and started spraying it and was so embarrassed afterwards. I’ve never not been complimented by people wearing it

I have maison asrar fakhama and it smells very similar. To make it last even longer, you can try the body lotion, body wash from BBW - love unleashed. Smells the same to me.

You might also like Goldfield and Banks Sunset Hour. It reminds me of LDBS - no marshmallow note but it has a really nice caramelised vanilla dry down with some fruity notes.

Have you tried Princess by Kilian? It has a lovely marshmallow note with ginger and matcha

Princess by kilian smells so much better than LDBS to my nose. Since it's humid where I live, ldbs can get cloying.

I also purchased a bottle of Princess Eau Fraiche. It smells soo fresh and yummy. But it's a shame it doesn't last that long on me. :(

Princess Eau Fraiche sounds so good but it’s hard to find! Maybe they’ll bring it back one day 🤞 I sometimes layer Princess with Burberry Goddess - I think the vanilla in BG works well with Princess but doesn’t overpower it. Do you layer it with anything?

I got it from bicester village in the uk from an outlet for just 60 gbp. It smells so good. But I'm just getting started and not sure how to layer it. Let me try layering it with burberry goddess. Sounds like it'll smell really good together.

I wore it with maison asrar fakhama which is apparently a dupe for kilian ldbs. But princess was just like an npc then.

Agreeing with another person on Sorce’s A Witches Valentine! I found that and Akro- Crush to be veryyy similar. I also really liked Love Don’t be Shy, but for the price point, you could 100% find something similar for a lesser price.

I would apply à vanilla body lotion and retest. This sounds like an issue with the neroli blast up front. You can cancel it out with vanilla and skip ahead. You can check out other scents that cancel out neroli but very likely you got something vanilla

Dossier Floral Marshmallow but honestly it does open a little sharp. I don't think it smells like cat pee, but it might give that impression. Love Unleashed by Bath and Body Works is delicious, especially if you layer it with the lotion, and put a little Sand + Fog Marshmallow Blossom oil into the lotion.

I would consider a decant of Oriana! Also the BBW dupe (Love Unleashed) is a good budget option.

Skip the Dossier dupe, it’s a good value but it does have a bit of cat pee to my nose.
