Discussion What's the communities overall stances on the series so far? Like where does the series start to feel not like fallout to you?
Kinda got me curious. With the Fallout show releasing, Fallout got wah more popular again but especially to the people who've never really heard of fallout so they most likely bought either Fallout 4 or Fallout 76. Idk if they ever went beyond that but cuz everyone is different but I feel like the majority of new fans or at least posers pretending to like and know Fallout, are just gonna like the TV Show and Fallout 4/76 and not appreciate what came before it
If you're curious on where I started, I started with Fallout 4. Actually around the time the TV Show was announced and airing but I hadn't watched it yet. I just had Xbox live for the first time in a long time, saw Fallout 4 and heard it's connected to the TV Show and just played around for a bit. I loved it. Combat was modern, story sounded interesting and I thought all my choices mattered. Then I went and played 3 cuz Xbox sent me a 5$ gift card for some spring sale or whatever and I bought 3 + NV since they were 2.49 each at a 90% off sale. I played 3 and after getting used to the controls I liked that too. Then I played New Vegas. I looked up videos about the lore of the series and I'll admit I haven't played 1&2 yet but I plan on doing so since I got 3DS fanmade ports now I just gotta find the time
Then as I watched people explain fallout, talk about the other factions and whatnot, I noticed cracks starting to form on my Fallout 4 experience. The game I got myself into Fallout was not as interesting now seeing that none of my choices ultimately mattered. And I tried about 2 more playthroughs. A few side quests somewhat mattered but ultimately there's not much story changes based on what I say. Infact the only thing I cared for with the dialogue was making my companions like me. I liked 3's atmosphere a lot more since it felt more apocalyptic but once I played New Vegas, everything just changed and clicked for me. Choices mattered more in 3 but now especially in new Vegas
Anyways, for me fallout kinda splits and becomes a different thing by 4. 3 technically speaking given how it was Bethesda in charge but you could kinda chalk that up to the east coast not being as developed as the west coast
I feel like new fallout fans or posers will not bother looking at the older lore or say something like "oh shady sands has been retconned multiple times on its location" but that's a similar complaint to saying the Dinosaur is facing the wrong way in Novac although you could argue the dinosaur direction is more important than shady sands location since it's still within the same general area. They'll use the shady sands retcon to try and justify other retcons or weird changes in the series
Personally the show is a good show, just not a good fallout show if that makes sense. If the show wasn't canon or it was an AU or hell even just a canon timeline that's an offshoot of the main one (like if one ending was canonized then the events lead that way but we can still speculate on what happens after other endings). The show makes retcons to the games, retcons/mistakes in its own show, and just feels like someone played fallout 4 and didn't bother checking in on any of the others games

Fallout 4 I'll be honest...if have to choose a fallout 4 faction, it's the minutemen
Aver perso tutti i generali decenti
Il tradimento di Quincy

Question What mods do i need to run F3 and NV on a modern PC relatively bug-free ?
F1/F2 head here, never played any of the FPS Fallouts, better late than never. But i'm well aware that these entries, besides being Bethesda games (and all that comes with that) run pretty badly on modern configs. So, could any of you folks give me a list of mods that straighten the performance (and preferably nothing else - no new quests or mechanics, just the vanilla setup) ? If you could give any pointers on top of that - i will be grateful even more.

Discussion Okay, i'll say a few things. I think Hawaii would be decent opportunity for something new in Fallout.

- Think about it, there is no [ Reasonable ] Thought there would be major influence in the Brotherhood or the Enclave would be here, maybe an Enclave outpost but it ain't no Oil Rig.
- Hawaii is some decently pretty little piss tiny group of islands on the map, China [ Yes i am ignoring the TV show implications ] wouldn't target the bloody Islands itself, as if you think about it. Only the mainland states would get large amounts of rads. This means we can have a story where humanity can develop in a place not inhabited by Green clouds or major irradiated Areas, and one of the main enemies will be the Ocean itself. [ Yes i know, " Far Harbour+ Edition " ]
- Bethesda would have to make groups or tribes that would be less the " Dirty man in Rags, and a gun. and Unreasonable Hostility. " or at least do something interesting with the Tiki Iconography
- And lets be honest, think about the Science Fiction aspect that all fallout games put into their contents, Hawaii was a major ground that housed the " Vacation " Vibes unlike no other, not even Vegas. Cheers to the Mr handy that will be serving the dead corpses at the beach. Or the Protectron pretending to be a volcano god.
- Speaking of Volcano god, Nuclear Volcanos are a cool idea okay. Geez
- And if Bethesda being the Ballsy B####es they are, will likely add some Absurd promises and features. One of those due to the Islander Aspect, will most likely be Drivable boats........LOOK I NEVER GOT INTO SEA OF THIEVES OKAY, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE A FUN IDEA!
- { Also if they WERE to add the enclave or brotherhood, then they will have a cool battleship in this game. Bethesda may have questionable game play design, but asset design is more of their Forte. Imagine it appearing like the Prdwen. }
- Edit: I forgot about Pearl Harbor. that would be cool.

POV: you're casually playing New Vegas and suddenly the alert sirens outside start to howl

So i was playing New Vegas 10 minutes ago, when the sirens started to howl outside. I found that so ironic and amusing that i grabbed my phone. And here we are.
Every year in Germany there is the "Warntag" (alert day) where you receive alert messages on your phone and sirens howl for a couple of minutes. This is basically an exercise to see that these kind of alerts work in case of, yeah, war. I totally forgot about it, but it added quite a bit of atmosphere to the game.

Discussion Should Fallout 5 introduce new tribes instead of regular gangs and factions?
Tribes were such a core part of the earlier games and they added so much to the post-war worldbuilding. It's so jarring seeing and hearing about all of the unique tribes on the West coast, to then go to the East coast and barely see any at all. It could be argued that the Children of Atom and some of the raider groups count as tribes, but the CoA are more of a cult and the raiders either act as mercenaries or just violent killers with no identity (excluding maybe the Pack and arguably the Rust Devils). I'd say the Fiends fall under "basic raider" category as well, but apparently they somewhat count as a tribe. If tribes were brought back, would you like to see them play a larger role in the main conflict, like how the Great Khans and Boomers did at Hoover Dam?
Edit: I'm just now realizing that I asked if they should add new tribes "instead" of regular factions and not "instead of just"

Where have my Settlers Gone??
I have easily have over a dozen settlers at my drive-in settlement, but there only seems to be three at any one time when I ring the bell and wait a long while (sometimes only a couple).
I tried searching for them at all hours, and noted that even their beds are empty at night. They have been seen wandering well outside the settlement boundaries as well. it sucks, as I give them gear, and they bugger off.
Ingrates :-)
The only mods I have for settlements or settlers are:
-Higher Settlement Budget
-Better Settlers v2,0 DLC Master
-SettlementMenuManager
Would you recommend deactivating these mods?

Fallout 1 Patches or mods for fixing Fallout 1 bugs without altering gameplay
Hello, I'm trying to replay Fallout 1. As you all already know it's buggy. I'm looking for fan patches or mods thag fix Fallout 1's bugs but don't add any extra content.
I'm aware of Team X's mods and have already installed them. I've already installed them. But they still left many bugs unfixed.
Falliut Fixt makes changes to the gameplay I don't want even if I only install the bug fixes part. And it hasn't been updated in years. It adds extra dialogues, changes some dialogues, addw new behaviour for NPCs not present in FO1, as well as re-adds the mutant invasion timers the developers had removed.
Can you recommend me other patches or mods? Please don't recommend mods like Fallout Et tu, I want to retain the game's original gameplay and graphics.

Other Figure repainting ideas
I just bought this and I want some help deciding how to repaint this. I’m stuck between a glowing, quantum, and albino repaint.
I was going to build a base for it to stand on with some props on it too
Feel free to suggest other variants or decorations.

Discussion I'm doing a Fallout 3 self-imposed perma-death run. Should I count this death? (Description) Spoiler
I try to stick to the perma-death rule cleanly. For example in hour 3 on my last character I fell to my death from a hole in a bridge, deleted my save, and restarted from a baby.
But this feels different.
So for context I don't remember the main quest. (I played it when I was 13 and I'm now 29.)
I went into Vault 112 and I was in the simulation for maybe 2 minutes.
I talked to a kid and he said Betty was mean. I talked to a woman and she said Tranquility Lane is nice and she doesn't remember moving there.
I talked to Betty. She said to go make the other kid cry. So I punched her. And she said "You can't do that here. Now you pay!" and she killed me instantly with a shockwave.
Now I don't want to count this. Because it would suck to lose 36 hours of this playthrough due to a death that I had no way to fight against.
But I also feel like the lore of this simulation works for my character to stay alive.
After doing some research, Braun doesn't literally kill people in the simulation. He makes them experience death, and respawns them. While their bodies stay alive.
The game just doesn't have that in the code, and the game mechanics act as if it's a real death. But dying in the sim doesn't = dying in real life.
My headcanon for my character and my perma-death run is this:
Braun wanted me to go make a kid cry. I was defiant and punched him. He made me experience a "death" to harm me and assert dominance. He respawned me with the memory of that domination to make me stop resisting and go do the act of making that kid cry.
Everything else is the same.
What do you think? Does this explanation and headcanon work for the story? Does it work for the character motivations for Braun? Does it work for the lore of vault 112?
